  1. No time like the present to step up to the refernce line.
  2. For your rear 'center' use either a KV or the KG. Both will work great. I am using a KV because I upgraded my original system to 6.1. I placed my KV in the rear and bought a RC for the front center. Everything sounds great.
  3. I saw it in the theaters and thought it was the worst movie I have ever seen.
  4. 20% off MSRP is a fair amount for both sides. Mark up on Speakers is like furniture and Jewlery. There is a lot of mark-up.
  5. It's my understanding that SACD and DVD-audio is analog signal.
  6. glennbarn, As you can see most of us agree that the difference between the RC-35 and RC-3II are minimal. Either one would sound great. I would listen to them both and choose which one you liked and got a good price for. I think I paid $290 for the RC-3II. Good Luck
  7. You may wnat to change to EQ of the center channel in your receiver set up. I did this and it better matches my mains.
  8. To be honest I audition them both at Ultimate. The RC-35 had a much fuller sound but was as not clean (defined). The RC-3II was alot cleaner but not as full. I chose the RC-3II but I probable would be happy with the RC-35. What main speakers are you using?

  10. My brother in-law has the Intergra 6.4? which I have listen to extensively. The receiver is very impressive sounding and loaded with features. I do have mixed feeling about companies which sell high end models along with regular modes i.e. Sony and Sony EX Lexus/Toyota and Onkyo/Intergra. It's probable not based upon and facts but I get the feeling it's the same basic unit with minor upgrade and a new face for a more substaintial price increase. I am in favor of detachable power cords. I just now wish all manufactures would use the came power cord connection.
  11. I a using and RC-3II with older KG mains and they match fine. I think most Klipsch will sound very good together.
  12. "Are you missing something" Answer: No not when you are dealing with high-end subwoofers. Now if you were comparing low end to the high end then the answer is a definite YES. The question for you is your room large enough to place two subs.
  13. I have never heard or seen other finished in the Synergy line.
  14. I have read many articles about small vs. large settings. Try them both, however, in my opinion if you have floor standing speaker set the receiver to large, if you have a decent size center set it to large and surrounds to large if you have decent size surrounds. What I mean about decent size center and surrounds if the speakers can go down to 60 hz. I set the cross over on the sub or reciever to 10 hz above the main speaker lower frequency. Then adjust your gain (volume) on the receiver sub output up and do your tone test to balance your speaker.
  15. I would be curious to see if there is any real difference in picture quality between a $150 progressive scan player and a $1,000 player.
  16. Not really. Especially between regular no name 12 g speaker wire and Monster speaker wire.
  17. The Sunfire subs recommend using the left input only. And that's the way I'm running it.
  18. Just, I would not be a bit concerned with the wattage from Harmon/Kardon. Their receivers are very clean power. There was a post which showed the actual output from receivers compaired to the claim wattage. H/K are very formitable amps. Not to offend anyone but I would take an H/K receiver rated at 70 wpc over Sonys rated at 100wph.
  19. The only true way would be to hook the same system in the same setup and switch the connection. I would be suprised if anyone can tell the difference.
  20. digital optical or digital coax...the eternal questions. If you can tell the difference you have great ears.
  21. Go into your DVD's main menu and make sure the Digital Output is set to on and that DTS is set to on.
  22. My guess is that either the receiver or more likely the DVD player is to analog.
  23. endover, the difference between DD/DTS and Pro Logic is like night and day. Upgrading your surround speakers will not make any difference with Pro Logic. Pro Logic has very weak surround sound. As it currently stands, no format exists in Movies for 7.1. It's my understanding with 7.1 receivers that the two back channels are the same. If you purchased a 6.1 receiver you can run two speakers off the one back surround channel. In terms of price, $400 dollars will get you a nice receiver with plenty of power. Good Luck
  24. In addition, you typically cannot use the 'B' speaker connection for back surround. 'B' mains send only stereo sound so using it will not work. Try playing B only in surround mode and only one speaker will play. The only true 6.1 surround format is DTS. Dolby's 6 channel is a matrixed from the rear surround channels.
