I have a little advice to foil a tactic used by "snipers". ( I have used snipes myself to win a bid. ) Snipers will bid $1 on an auction without a reserve to shut off the "Buy-it Now" feature. If you list an item with BIN put a reserve on it or start it halfway to your desired selling price. This will let more buyers look at your BIN and, maybe, take advantage of it. Snipes in themselves are not bad. If they win a bid they are always higher than the previous bidders maximum price. The seller wins and the sniper wins. They do frustrate non-snipers though. I know I was, when that bid came in with seven seconds to go, and I didn't know what was happening. Rick

The only thing I remember about him is the " Simply Irrisistable" video and the commercial based on it. Still 54 is too young to go. If he has any young children I feel for them. Rick

Do they come with an adapter so you can use the upper horn as a hearing aid? Rick

Which has better more powerful BASS? ...Khorn or Cornwall

DeanG says " It's the kind of bass that makes you glad you don't have a pacemaker." I have a defibrilator/pacemaker (thus zapper). Today I was listening to Chuck Mangione and the feel of the bass drum, when kicked hard was like a skipped heart beat in the chest while the (slightly) flabby belly jiggled. But the sound, the sound of that kick! No BOOM rather the sound of the striker hitting the skin with all the force that the drummer's leg could muster. Fabulous! Just like he was in the room. And this with an unmodified 299C. I was listening to some "new" 7591 Scott's, sweeet. I'll be keeping these for Sunday company. Rick -
installed an outdoor fm antenna, wow
3dzapper replied to MichaelShaffer's topic in General Klipsch Info
Sure. The FM band is just above channel six VHF in the spectrum. Any VHF antenna will shine as an FM receptor. I have a little RCA Ministate up in the attic that I use with excellent results. Rick -
I played Al Hirt's "Cotton Candy" Sunday for my 75YO father-in-law Sunday. It is his favotite album and he has worn out his copy on cheap stereos over the years. He was in heaven. The copy he heard is his Christmas present. Don't tell him it's a suprise. Best demo? Telarc's direct to disc 1812 Overture. If your TT/cart can track the cannons and your speakers can make them real without blowing up the amp. Man, you've got the system! Rick

In 1978 the Cornwalls were $1000/pr. Klipschorns were $1800?pr in birch. Rick

Cornwalls are a compromise. Take a low frequency driver, optomized for horn loading, place it in a bass reflex enclosure and it will react differently with more frequency doubling. What you hear with Corns as increased bass response is actually distortion. When the signal calls for explosive bass the Khorns rock. When the signal calls for a muted bass line they reproduce it beautifully. I've had my Khorns in several different size rooms over the years. In each they were the best sounding speakers for my type of music than anything in the world that I have heard. Busa when you get your horns you just have to try them with valves. Since I have been habituating the forum I have and love thier clean sound free from switching distortion. With your huge amps even unbridged you will get some awesome rock and roll but with valves you will get awesome rock and roll and experience the sound that the producer put in the grooves. One more thing when you get your horns rope caulk the suckers! Makes a tremendous difference. Enjoy! Rick -
Please be more careful in the future. I exercised my finger an extra time clicking my mouse agian. My finger is getting muscle bound. Rick

Hereseys are a great sounding "little" speaker. I recently picked up a pair for my HT room. They have the classic Heritage sound. I found the mud magnet tweeters a bit on the strong side. but then, I have always felt the Alnico k77s in my horns were a little timid so I switched them. I got two perfect marrages. The first thing I did when I unpacked them Monday was to rewire with 14ga OFC, tighten all the connections on the crossover and install some polyfill. Today I rope caulked the woofer and squaker (tweeter already done). They sound super even in the small room with CD and SS. They ain't Klipschorns but what is? Unfortunatly there is no room in there for Cornwalls. Oh well. I only use my sub, Rw-15, with effects. True bass is better to my ears. Funny I first read about Klipsch speakers in Roling Stone. The article was about La Scalas and went into PWK and his quirks. I was sold. I saved and saved. When it came time to buy the WAF reared it's head and we went to buy Corns but bought Horns. In a nutshell buy the Hereseys you won't be disapointed. Then later buy some Corns and use the Hereseys for rears. Then buy some Horns and use the Corns for rears and the Hereseys for front and rear center. Problem solved! Rick

My Khorns were $1,600pr (US) in birch in 1978. What would that be today? 5k? Add the veneering and the price has stayed pretty much level adjusted for inflation. Rick

Those sound like AndyKubicki 's Khorns. I think they started life as early utility models with open tops. Rick

Those Macs went off for $1028. Rick

Here's a guy on ebay who has a Sam's folder for your amp. Sam's folders have schematics, component values and locations and teat point voltages. Very useful. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3047869276&category=3284 Rick -

Hi Dave_Wee, Welcome to the forum. Here is a good link to learn and discuss HTPCs (home theater PC): http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/index.php?s=e7a86c99bbe106fcb00dd27b8792f8b9 Yes, you hook up the speakers to a good amp/reciever. Here would be the best way to control volume with a remote. Rick -

larryclare, Can you scan that disk and post it? Rick

Hel Guedj, You are going to need someone with newer Khorns than mine to answer that one. Rick

I don't think the KSW's will match at all. In another post you ask about the RSW-15. That would be a much better match if you feel that you need a sub. Of course "ears" will have to be the final judge on sub-woofer questions. By the way when you hit the submit button, wait a minute, have a smoke, and relax before you hit it agian. That will eliminate these multiple posts. Rick
