  1. What do 6U8 tubes do in a power amp? What do 6GH8 tubes do? I'm getting some hiss and squealing in my Scott 208 power amp, and I think I've narrowed down the problem to the 6U8 or 6GH8 tubes (what are the differences?). I've searched the forum but found only one thread. thanks in advance! Forrest
  2. Funny, I was looking for this today as well. Found it here Use the search feature and look for 'H/K 730 or 930' or go to this thread. http://forums.klipsch.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=50495&forumID=68&catID=19&search=1&searchstring=&sessionID={E8388EF0-9790-4446-99F8-055780FF7C1F} HDBRBuilder (Andy) gives the lowdown on how to clean the units. 7. dipthongs.... I was fully expecting a fini photoshop on this one by now ahem.. however, a dipthong is where a vowel such as 'i' , actually has to vowel sounds used to make the proper pronunciation.... i.e. ahhhhhhhh-eeeeeeeeeeeee.... a really good example is the word 'toy'. t + Oh + ee the word 'night'... if pronounced in standard english.. is phonetically nah-eet here in the south... where we *can* turn 'yes' into a four syllable word, words like night become 'naht'. the definition of tar? Dem thangs on yore core. etc. Forrest (suffern frum ack-scent rat naw)

Any chance of coming down the the 'Green' and hearing some Corns with tube power? That's a beautiful part of the country you live in and the ladies' accents.. well.... Are you guys coming to the Pilgrimage?? Michael from INdy ---------------- Funny how a fine set of legs can make a lack of dipthongs sound really sexy, ain't it? The Corns at the church are powered by SS, since I run a mixing board into the SS receiver (an Onkyo tx-4500 MkIII, I think). I would be glad to take my Scott down there and hook it up to listen to, however. Could be revealing! The one thing about that room that doesn't lend itself well to stereo listening is the reverberation. It is a 'wet' environment and I'm happy with it that way since congregational singing and my choir sound really good in there. 2 channel listening, not so much, especially at higher volumes. I wish I had tried my Cornwalls on the long wall in my home (tiny abode that it is)... because the Khorns really opened up that way. The Cornwalls with tubes in my house were superb, but nothing like the Khorns on the long wall. My life is incredibly full, but I'd be glad to find some time for a fellow Klipscher! Come on down! 13. The lesson of the moth by Don Marquis, in "arcy and mehitabel," 1927 ------------------------------ i was talking to a moth the other evening he was trying to break into an electric light bulb and fry himself on the wires why do you fellows pull this stunt i asked him because it is the conventional thing for moths or why if that had been an uncovered candle instead of an electric light bulb you would now be a small unsightly cinder have you no sense plenty of it he answered but at times we get tired of using it we get bored with the routine and crave beauty and excitement fire is beautiful and we know that if we get too close it will kill us but what does that matter it is better to be happy for a moment and be burned up with beauty than to live a long time and be bored all the while so we wad all our life up into one little roll and then we shoot the roll that is what life is for it is better to be a part of beauty for one instant and then cease to exist than to exist forever and never be a part of beauty our attitude toward life is come easy go easy we are like human beings used to be before they became too civilized to enjoy themselves and before i could argue him out of his philosophy he went and immolated himself on a patent cigar lighter i do not agree with him myself i would rather have half the happiness and twice the longevity but at the same time i wish there was something i wanted as badly as he wanted to fry himself archy Time for a quote! I began to hear what these speakers can do. I would love to visit Artto's listening room though! Forrest Scott... how about a pic of your piano? Us players out here in forum land would like to see it! well, this one, anyway.
  16. 580 square foot home. Me and my son living here. 2 computers, electric dryer (rarely used), gas floor furnace. 1950 fridigaire fridge (inefficient but oh so 'perfect' looking). Avg. temp last month, 38 F. 7 Kwh/ day (218 total) $21 56 CCF gas, $63.85 Champagne.. you must have an incredibly energy efficient home to live in MN and have energy usage that low for 4200 Sq. feet! Good for you! Forrest (trying to walk lightly on the earth)
