iHi @seti  , yep this is an older thread , what kind of speakers are these  in the picture , I remember a Klipsch speaker that looked somewhat  like this  but not sure  -------they look like  the MiniPunch  but they are not square cabs , are these 15 or 12's ----tx

Yes it is an older thread.  JWC had just obtained those subs. Seti, Mark 1101, and I were there and assisted in dialing them in .

There are lots of subs out there but few are musical and have IMPACT at the same time.

With the strait horn trax mid-bass, K402 -K510'a top end....and those subs.  All driven by four bridged Mac 275's and two Mac 1.2KW amps??

Being around audio for fifty years I hesitate in saying something like this...........  Top to bottom , That was the best audio system I ever heard !!!

The builder for my home ('30s) must have owned Belles cuz they fit just right!

I can see that you have a good flank distance and it works for you.  I often needed a center and they were in the way.

My doctor told me that the stress from my job is destroying my health, and that I should retire. I'm 61. So this morning I browsed real estate listings for retirement houses west of Saint Louis, as far as Columbia, MO. And I have just one question:

Why on earth do they keep putting a fireplace in the corner of the living room, completely ruining the house for Klipschorns or Jubilees?

No matter the location they are ALWAYS in the way....

...hell. In all my years in this hobby I had truly never heard of such a thing until today. However, after a little googling it appears there are lots of them and they can cost up to several hundred dollars.   Forget cables. Apparently what's truly needed is a hyper-expensive power cord attached to a special audiophile grade wall plug, but that is not enough for true sonic bliss. You need a copper, bronze, gold or ceramic fuse to lift the veil from the music.

Here's another odd thing about them, many require that they be installed in one direction only.  I never realized electricity flowed in one proper direction only, because I could have sworn that the juice flowed from positive to negative, or visa versa if you have a two prong plugged and simply switch it around.

So has anyone played around with these fuses, and is there any rational at all to using them.

Just use tin foil and be done with it.......

These just popped up 400 miles away.  Don't know much about them.  Seller asking $900 with very little information about them. I'd love to snag them but would like some input.  Are these the 'Decorator" model?  Drivers & x-overs seem original, yes/no?  Any info from those knowledgeable about these would sure be appreciated.  Thanks a bunch.

I still have my pair of vert decorator Cw's  (retired) that I ordered in '72. In '75(retired)  I ordered my second pair (horz) in walnut. (wife)  I used the '72's on their sides as centers for the "75's .   Both sets were without question Cornwall 1's.. Don't think these are 2's.

but anyway, too much $$$   You can buy finished CW's for less

You mean this Marantz Model 15?

I believe the 15's were Saul Marantz first SS amps. Mono blocks bolted together behind a plate front cover.

Had a pair in the early '70's. with the mod 14.  A mono block used as a center channel amp.

    Ran his 7T preamp.

Sweet sounding gear back in the day.

I have been on an endless (seems   endless anyway) experiment with  Full Range Drivers  and Bass Drivers in a 2 way set up My rational up to now has been cross the bass over low enough to keep vocals off the bass drivers. Allowing the Full Range to shine. Reading some reviews of other projects similar to mine I have gleaned some insight that they are crossing the bass drivers much higher .

Thinking about the probable advantages to crossing higher might be fuller sound,  better mid bass etc...  I  know  most heritage cross  over somewhere in the 4-500 range for the bass

Anyone here  have any insight to advantages or disadvantages of crossing the bass higher  ?

I started playing last night and  Perceived a fuller  sound but I also  got some  odd harmonics at certain freq  (that could easily be room  related) Plan on trying crossing over  much higher  to see what I might  hear. Am very  curious  to hear what others  might have experienced  or think.    As always thanks  for any info

I run dual 15" drivers in reflex bins with horn loaded mids and top.  My ear tells me to keep the LF in the bins and not to allow it to creep up into the mid horn.

And don't want the cone drivers to produce any of the mids as well.

So I use an ESN design on my bass board.

Could be just me.....or  only apply in a bass reflex unit ???

Another thought I had.  If that product is so good and they can't get enough of them, then why doesn't hifi shops carry them. If the demand is there no company is going to say we don't want to make them any longer.  Would be asinine.

I don't believe that you will find one in the US.

AH! products are sold only by Upscale Audio.  You might try calling AH! in Holland but I expect that they are very guarded due to their contract with Upscale.

    That looks pretty cool indeed.

Bi-amping is always fun, but don't bother unless you combine it with an active crossover.

Please note on the amps (and you probably already know this), they need to be very quiet ones (no hiss or hum). Will yours be in good order?

Good luck & it looks like a fun project,

    -Tom

    Tom,

I have read your posts for years and have always respected your opinions.  I must disagree with this one and run the "fools bi-amp".

Use two bridged Luxman M -117's  (refurbish) on the bottom through an ESN circuit for the LF.

And two McIntosh 100's on the top.  I switched the setup around  and listened for mouths.

The passive Bi-amp sounds much better that the other configurations.

    Regards,

I picked these Klipsch Cornwalls up recently and I am hoping to get some information on the speakers themselves. The ID tags on the back say they are Type CD and the serial #'s are 9P303 and 9P304. I know CD stands for Cornwall Decorator but the black looks to be factory painted to me. When you take the black off you can see that some of the pieces looked to be painted pre-assembly. Could you order Decorators back in 76' and have the factory paint them?  The top left of the speaker is also stamped 'OD' on both of them.  I believe the grills are aftermarket since I haven't seen a single set of Cornwalls with them.  If they are factory black I want to leave them original but if they are not I have been thinking about sanding them down and staining them.  Thanks for your time!

Purchased a McIntosh MC2505 Amplifier on-line a while ago and the owner said he would have the amp professionally packaged but as you can see the packaging was poor and the amp has signification damage to the face of the unit, gain switches and power switch will need replacements along with glass, end retainers, upper & lower extrusions, right power meter and end caps.  The wood case is damaged beyond repair.

I've already purchased another MC2505 amplifier, so my question is a vintage amp worth the effort and expense to fix? Or should I just try to sell as-is for parts?

I have never seen damage that bad. Destroyed!  I would demand my money from seller.

    PS: I'm very sorry!
