  1. What are you saying -- that I should just flat out go for it at that price? One of my guns is an American Western Arms Peacekeeper chambered for the .45 Colt. It's a collectable -- so I don't shoot it. A little pricey, and it would take me a little while to move it. I would sell the Aragon to get the Heresys and the tubes, then use the gun money to buy another amp to replace the Aragon. Of course, If Kelly sells me the Scott...
  2. Of course, in spite of Kelly's love affair with the Eicos -- the Moondoggies are still in place. Nice post Colin, much better:) The nOrh is intriquing -- I'm looking forward toward your thoughts on it.
  3. Cool -- works for me. I appreciate you following up for me.
  4. I don't agree at all, as any well recorded and mixed session will always sound proportionately better on Klipsch.
  5. I AM broke. I'm also trying to land some tubes that will set me back some as well. I'll only do this is if they are near perfect. I would then sell the Aragon to cover the cost until I can get around to selling a firearm. I'll sell an amp to anyone -- I won't do the same with a firearm.
  6. Are they 1's or II's? What finish? Did you ask about dings or scratches?
  7. I can't get ebay from work, it's blocked at the firewall. What kind of shape are the Heresys in? Make me a picture -- I can't SEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeee
  8. No, I do Cisco routers and switches. However, I see ads in the paper all the time for Oracle Database Admin people. Oracle may not be hiring, but it sure does seem like there is a shortage of these folks in the Dayton, Columbus, & Cincinnati areas.
  9. No doubt. What the hell you trying to do Colin -- scare the life out of this guy? Easyeyes, all of your friends probably don't use horns do they? The real advantage of horns is that you don't HAVE to use solid state or anything high power at all! I have th Klipsch RF7's which are rated the same as your KLF-30's in efficiency. I'm using 9 tube watts a channel -- and I can hit very high volume levels in my modest sized listening area. Unless your room is the size of Albert Hall -- you should have no problem with 20 watts -- which will easily drive you out of the room. Quit thinking in "watts" -- it's almost completely meaningless. Where overseas are you? The amps in the price range you are looking usually have an autobiasing feature, or the bias is preset and you just leave it the way it is. Even if you had to do it yourself, it's ridiculously simple. If you don't want to go 'vintage', I still think the Anthem Amp1 and Anthem Pre1L sound very good for the prices they are going for now. Both amp and preamp together could be had for around $900. Not bad considering the two together went for $2500 5 years ago. However, a Scott in fine condition will probably best it in sound. Going with tubes will totally transform your KLF's, and I'm sure your friends will have a good laugh at your expense -- that is, until they hear your system.
  10. Lowest note in that movie is when they are digging through the dino turd piles looking for the cell phone. When they pan to the beast stepping out my SVS driver bottomed out big time. I don't know what in the hell that frequency is -- but it sent me flying to the Samson.
  11. Two bigger egos one will not find, kelly and craig locked in combat sublime.
  12. Ed, Get out the manual for the 9000 and find the section on the digital filter. There are two settings, and I think you will find the 'soft' setting much more to your liking with the K-horns. It's one mean machine.
  13. Ed, I asked you in another post somewhere what you thought of the sound of your 9000es? How did it fare against your McIntosh? Have you changed the filter setting from 'sharp' to 'soft' yet.
  14. Took an extended lunch today and put the Halos on the tubes. I moved some of gear around and did some listening. I took things up to the 95db point and it sounded pretty darn good. The dampers tightened things up a bit. It's a subtle change. The ambience I raved about appears to be intact, but the image seems to be a little more focused. Things between the speakers just sound more defined. The bass is punchier and the snares have a little more snap. It certainly doesn't appear to be a change for the worse. They kept what I liked, and gave me a little bit back of what I missed in the AE-25 -- and that's fine with me. At any rate, certainly more of a change than I expected -- considering all I did was put hoola hoops with pads around my tubes. The ringing is gone too -- now replaced with a wonderful uuummmmm sound. I hit the pause button and I'm met by my Apollos chanting the mantra. Apparently, the resonance point has changed. It's not quite as loud, but still clearly discernable. However, the postive here is that it's not near as annoying -- nor is it noticeable when the music is going full bore. I have yet to fully experiment. I just put them across the middle of the tubes. I can probably change things up by moving them up the tube somewhat. The instructions indicate that every tube type has an optimum seating position -- and experimentation is needed to find it. It seems I've made some headway here, and I'm pretty happy about that. Sounds good.

  16. I use the Monster 550i's. A $50 set of interconnects that have two center conductors and a braided shield. Most interconnects, even high dollar ones -- seem to be intent on using the shield itself as the return path -- which I think is retarded. If you are going to spend big money on IC's -- go with silver. http://www.rscables.com
  17. You specific question regarding the B&K 507 is best addressed by B&K technical support. Send them an email via their web site.
  18. It depends on how aware of the sound you are. Most can't tell. Many others, including myself -- can easily tell. It's very easy to hear the difference when you jack up the volume. Biwiring sounds "cleaner" to me.
  19. For the price of RB3's and the RSW10 -- you can get the RF5's. Hmmm. I prefer the RB5's -- but I think in your situation and your tastes -- definitely go for the RF3's. Bigger drivers = lower distortion. Get the sub later.
  20. "I have heard the RF-7's, and didn't think they had enough advantages over my SF-2's to spend 1,500 dollars on them." Lucky you. With hearing like yours -- you can stop ugrading now.
  21. Happy birthday Kain. Go with God, and be good!
