  1. Coytee, don't let them scare you. I have only purchased 3 speakers since I started hangin around this forum a few months ago. Welcome aboard!
  2. I'm with Keith here. Properly set-up, the KSP-400's are pretty outstanding IMHO. I had 300's and was pleased, but found a pair of 400's for $1100 used from a forum member and they are tremendous. I have heard RF-7's and they are great speakers, IMHO I think for the $$ the KSP-400's are tough to beat. I know another guy who has a set for sale and I think he would take $1200 or so for his. PM or e-mail me for his info. Keith is also right about finding a C-6 center, makes a ton of improvement too. I think there is one on audigon right now for $195.
  3. Gary, don't feel bad buddy. Although I haven't heard that album, my wife and daughter have laughed at me several times for sitting in my dimly lit listening room with Coltrane and or Miles Davis on. After many Sunday afternoons listening to jazz while I read the Sunday paper, my wife is "getting it". During dinner last Sunday, she actually requested I put on Blue Trane. I about fell outta my chair. Jazz, like 18 year old MacAllan, is an acquired taste.

Ok guys, some of you may have seen this site, but my son found it and showed it to me and I just thought I would pass it on to the forum. Anxious to hear some comments. http://www.royaldevice.com/custom3.htm
  6. Keep the wife for sure, and I am LMAO. Maybe you should start a Fruit of the Loom concession to help pay for the hobby!
  7. WOW!. Amazing. I am jealous for two reasons: First for the incredible kit you have there and second, my wife would have me drawn and quartered if I tried a set up like that. You definitely have WAF issues there. Nice rig. Do you get friends who come over to sign disclaimer forms before you let them watch The Matrix just in case they have heart failure?
  8. Happy B-Day Moon. This one's for you.
  9. Hey Gary, You say it's your birthday. Well happy birthday to you. The only thing that bites is knowing that in 4 days, I will be 3 years older than you!
  10. Ed, great looking corns. I agree with Garymd, would love to get together and hear them sometime.
  11. That's a beautiful pair...of speakers?
  12. I think the best thing about the e-bay listing is the 20 minute rant the guy goes on about the speakers he has vs other speakers. He's going to scare off all his potential buyers. LMAO.
  13. One last point...monopole kicks dipole as surrounds.
  14. You forgot to ask how everyone feels about 901's!!
  15. Strabo, better call your friend and tell him you just remembered you borrowed his CD and you will return it to him over the weekend!
  16. Mark, LMAO. if its not the WAF, its the GAF. Heck, we are all in the dog house 24/7.
  17. Thanks, Dean. My other choice would be to move my '76 Pioneer SA-9500 II from the family room to push the Cornwalls. Any appreciable difference in an older ss and the newer one?
  18. Hey guys, I certainly don't want to fan any flames here but I do have a question. I have read a lot of threads here about matching upstream components with your speakers. I am currently trying to buy a set of Cornwalls and I have a Pioneer Elite ss 110w per channel amp that I will use to drive these speakers on the "b" side in my game room. Am I just kidding myself to think that I will be satisfied with this combination? I currently use this amp with my KSP-400's, but they are as you know, not Cornwalls. It appears most folks here on the forum feel strongly about tube amps with heritage speakers. Although I have heard several tube setups, I have never owned one and would not have much idea where to start. What do you think?
  19. Taurus, I have made 6 corporate relocations and the moving companies offer a crating service for "high value" large items. Last two moves, I had the speakers packed in movers cartons under my watchful eyes and then the crating company came in and built individual crates for the speakers. Works great and not a bump or scratch. Check with your mover to see if they offer the service. Good luck on your move.
  20. Just wanted to say thanks to Keith (T2K). I picked up a set of used KSP-400's a few months back (at Keith's recommendation)for the fronts of my HT. I moved my 300's to the rear. Keith also recommended I find a KSP-C6 for the center. Well it took a while, but I finally found one and just got it today. Just hooked it up after work and played a couple of DVD concerts. Well, you were right Keith, the C-6 just sort of melts into the front and does not jump up in your face like the C-5 did. Thanks. Great advice.
  21. Guys, thanks for all the great advice. This board is amazing. You guys are the best. Based on the fact that this lady lives alone and by her own admission had to have help just moving them into the family room to take pictures, and she drives a Honda, I did not get the impression that she was going to run right out and take them to a repair shop. She actually was very concerned initially that I was going to raise heck with e-bay because the speaker didn't work. After getting her to calm down (she must have apologized five or six times)she told me to let her know if I had any other ideas or if I decided I just wanted to drop the whole thing. With all of the positive comments and offers to help if I get these home and need to repair or replace some components, I think I will make her an offer to buy them "as is". BTW, thanks for the compliment on the Crossfie Indy. How the heck could you tell that it was a Crossfire?
  22. Thanks guys. I just talked to my brother-in-law. He has a set of '76 Cornwalls and he is of the same opinion. He looked at the pictures and said they looked better than his (and his have been babied). I think I will sleep on it and maybe call her back in a day or so. Been a Klipsch fan since I first heard my B-I-L's Corns in 1976 and thought I had a pair of my own. Maybe I will yet. Any other thoughts?
  23. Hey guys. Need some help / advice. I found a pair of 1978 Cornwalls (cwo) #17S825 & 17S826 that a lady in Chicago had for sale on e-bay. They were her husband's and she knew nothing about them. She did not even have a stereo to connect them to. They have been sitting in a closet for 3 years. After having some discussions with her on the phone she agreed that if I won the auction, she would have a friend come over with his amp and cd player to connect the speakers and make sure they worked. Well, I won them for $700 and was pumped because the pictures of the Corns looked beautiful. She just called me to give me the bad news, after hooking them up to her friend's amp, one of them produces zero sound! She offered to try and take them into a local stereo repair shop (within 2-3 weeks) and see what they thought. What does anyone think? Do I wait to see what the stereo shop thinks? Offer her significantly less money? Or run away. What are probable issues and approximate costs to repair / replace parts? Thanks.
  24. Griff, so the main advantage of the high end conditioners (aside from the independent filters) is to give a more stable current, removing or vastly reducing the possibility of spikes? Help me out a little here and don't laugh if I am way off base, during a say very dynamic load placed on an amp it would be less likely to create a spike? Or maybe the reverse, it would not be subject to a dip in current?
