  2. You know the old addage, "Once you get tubed, there is no going back"
  3. Craig, So my bro's rebuilt 299-C is going to sound better than these Jolida's and Antique sound lab stuff?
  4. I used to know a guy who had a vintage Marantz 2250 Solid state reciever from the 70's, his would do the same exact thing. It would snap and pop out of the Left channel every so often. We cracked it open and used canned air and blew all the dirt and dust off the innards and got basically everything very clean. We put put the cover back on and plugged her in and never heard a pop ever since, you might want to try that as a first step

Only a few songs on that CD I like, but that last cut is killer. What you "get" is more of what you like about Klipsch loudspeakers, with less of what you don't like about Klipsch loudspeakers. The Auricaps and Kimber's make the sound smoother, richer, clearer, and more open. You also get an absence of hash at low to moderate listening levels, and a substantial reduction in harshness at high SPL's. It's easy to hear, unlike cable changes where you have herniate yourself to hear the difference. ---------------- Yeah, I have all the Korn CD's, that is a very rockin track indeed. I mostly jam 80's Metal through the system

  7. Guy, How does the ST-70 sound compared to the 299-C?
  8. Guy, How do those KT-66 based amps sound compared to the Dynaco Mark III's? How much are you asking?

And by the way Dean, looks like a top notch job. What should he expect to hear improvement wise? ---------------- The performance is nothing short of intense euphoria, once I had installed the crossovers and sat down to listen, I immediatly began to hallucinate and sink into a deep catatonic state, I did not where i was or who i was, I had lost all touch with reality as we know it. I had traversed into a dimensional plane that is beyond our grasp, I felt and experienced pleasures that mere men could not comprehend or begin to Phatom. I began to have delusional visions and started to communicate in ancient tongues that were alien to me, I began to spit up bile and convulse violently until my heart stopped and cardiac arrest took its toll. And then my brother shut off the unit and I suddenly was back to normal. If anyone of you venture to experience this intense dimensia, then step up and get the crossovers done.
  10. Here is a pair of rebuilt and modified Dynaco Mark III's on Audiogon. http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?ampstube&1106742760
  11. Qow, those quicksilver mono's look nice and for the price, they cannot be beat. Someone could have some sweet sound if they picked them up to use with there Klipsch speakers and a nice tube preamp. That is 60watts per channel of pure PUSH/PULL Rock power, anyone wanting to pay thier respects to the Gods of rock must have these at thier disposal
  12. Mine have a switch on my Dynaco's that i can flip between Class A Triode and AB Ultralinear. I prefer Triode since it deepens the soundstage, smooths out the highs and mids,it basically makes the music more natural and laid back sounding, not as edgy as in Ultralinear mode, and since I had 60 watts to start with, I end up with 30watts per amp in triode mode which is still more than enough on my efficient RF-7's or any Klipsch speaker for that matter.
  13. Go with a solid pair of 60W PP monoblock amps based on the KT-88 tube, strap them in triode mode and get a nice Tube preamp and get ready to rock, I have this exact setup with a pair of Dynaco Mark III amps in Triode mode, and for Rock, classical, whatever it may be, they deliver on my RF-7's. You Khorns will flat out simply jam!!!
  14. Very nice setup indeed, I am very happy for the guy. If he enjoys it and it brings him happiness then that is all that matters. But I have one quirk with the guy, I was reviewing his musical tastes and I did not find any rock, now Jazz I like, Classical yes but POP???? I would have dumped the pop in favor of Rock!!!!! I like all types of music from Bach to Rock
  15. Hallo Wolfram, was ist los meinen freund? I love Vivaldi's Violin and Cello concerto's, they have a unique sound that is truly wunderbar to listen to. Also, Franz Josef Haydn and Johann Sebastian Bach are others who have wonderful violin concerto's.
  16. DeanG has done crossover upgrades for my RF-7's and my brothers KG 5.5's. They make a nice diffrence! KG 5.5's = Smoother and cleaner highs that bloom towards listener, more coherent and controlled bass. I can play any cd's and sit right in front of the speakers and jam. RF-7's = Smooth highs that come towards the listener, more laid back and deeper soundstage. Look, the bottom line here is that you have never heard a George Lynch guitar solo unless youve heard them on a pair of horns and tube equipment, with pair of Dean G crossovers I pray to the gods of rock daily and must pay hommage with nothing but the best sound possible.
  17. Goto www.amazon.com and do a search for each of the albums and artists listed here and listen to sample tracks from each cd
  18. Scorpions : Love at First Sting Scorpions : Blackout Scorpions : Savage Amusement Dokken : The very best of Dokken Cinderella : Night songs Dio : The very Beast of Dio
  19. Get 'em Dean!!! Update the crossovers and Blast some metal through those bad boys!!!!
  20. WOW, I just found a pic of the Klipsch Reference Premier speakers. They look very exotic and they seem to be 3 way from what i can percieve, there is a midrange tweeter below the Tractix horn.
  21. I looooooooooooooooove my RF-7's!!!! Best speaker for the money bar none!!!!!!!!!!!
  22. I have a 2 disc set called "The Very best of Frank Sinatra" It was done in 1997 so the sound quality is top notch. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000002NFI/qid=1099671552/sr=2-1/ref=pd_ka_b_2_1/104-0290743-1167932

Next, Santana, old Van Halen, and Audioslave. Each was outstanding. Carl. ---------------- Excellent, what recordings did you listen on the Bach and the Mozart? Im really impressed with that Audioslave CD, it seems to be mixed extremely well, it has nice bass and clear smooth vocals and guitar, very powerful mixing they did on it.
