  1. Without knowing what the rest of your system & room size/layout it's a little hard to give specifics but I'll give it a shot. I'm running an HT-5550, RF-3 II mains & RW-10d so we're kinda similar .... under Speaker Set, I have mains set to Large & the Subwfr set to Both. Under HP Tone Control I put the Bass to +3 & Treble to -2. On the sub, the low pass is set to 65. I get pretty good low sound but I also have tile floors. Hope this helps ... & as always, YMMV. peace, mitch
  2. I'm glad sum1 else opened the Monster cable Pandora's Box ... I do agree with seth here. For now I use RatShaft 14Ga copper wire and screw-on (re-usable) gold plated banana plugs. My wire runs are < 10ft and for now the suit my ears just fine. Although i did put out a bit of $$ out for an AudioQuest Sub-X gold tipped cable @ 25% off and I needed a 15+ ft (6m) run to reach my sub's placement. The $20 they knocked off the RCX-4s sale price made it less painful too. peace, mitch
  3. How do you feel about road-trippin' to Gainesville? Or Lake City? Seriously. I popped a J'ville zip in the dealer locator & looks like J'v only has Installation places for in-wall/ceiling Reference stuff. Personally, I think It'd be worth the hour trip to hear the Reference line-up. I just don't know if the Synergy line would have the cahoneys to fill that open/large of an area. I could be wrong and will let the 'experts' in here answer that for sure. Call the stores (there's one listed in Brunswick GA too, approx same miles as to G'v or LC) & see what they have @ what price. Maybe you'll get lucky and they'll be running a sale or clearancing some stock ... ya never know. Happy hunting. peace, mitch
  4. Bill ... congrats on ur upgrade. I had a friend help me hook up and tweak my RW-10d on Sunday and WOW what a diff!!!! Tested a few different CDs but really noticed the difference when I popped in Amanda Marshall's Everybody's Got A Story ... lotsa good thumpin' on it. Also was very clean low end watching "Heroes" Monday night. With a 12x18 room and tile floors a little bass goes a loooong way. [] Next up is getting the RCX-4 up and running. peace, mitch
  5. I just went ahead & registered for a free acct .... no big gig .... said NO to the *special* subscription offer and the e-mail crap. I think it might save it to their site linked to ur acct. Not sure 'cuz it never asked me where to save it locally. Sorry I can't help ya more on this.
  6. Having trouble figuring out where to put that new big screen TV and get that all important WAF?!? Just got the new HT seating and aren't sure where best to put it & then where to put the mains and surrounds for that optimal HT experience ... then check out the link below. Odd shaped room? No prob, just put the walls/windows/doorways/closets where they should be. Place your furniture & accessories where they go. Don't like that layout? Well don't bust yer @$$ moving big heavy furniture all day ... just drag 'n drop to rearrange your layout. This is a really cool & time saving program I found yesterday while (unsuccessfully) trying to use AutoCAD to layout my living room so I could get some placement options for my soon-to-be new sub. Hope it helps you guys as much as it did for me! http://www.bhg.com/bhg/category.jsp?categoryid=/templatedata/bhg/category/data/arrangearoomtest.xml peace, mitch
  7. 'Max Headroom' was Matt Frewer from 'Doctor Doctor' & played TrashCanMan in Stephen King's 'The Stand'. Most recently he's on SciFi's 'Eureka'.
  8. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for not scheduling it on the same weekend as Vintage IN Fest .. looks liike I'll be able to make it this year. Now .... 'bout that 9AM thang!! [^o)] Guess I'll just git thar when I git thar .... luckily it's just a 10 minute bus ride from my apt & youz guyz r right on the bus line. So, weather permitting, count me in plus 1 possible guest. peace, mitch
  9. The mailer that I have for this sale lists the 2 Indy stores and the Cincy OH store too. RW-10d for 1/2 price, I'll be there. Plus ya never know what else they might have for a steal deal. That's how I got my receiver for $180 when it retailed @ $400. peace, mitch
  10. I'm *finally* going to be adding a sub to my RF-3IIs and can get an RW-10d for ~$250. Will the 10d fit (sound-wise) with my 3IIs OK? My apartment's living room is approx 12'x18' with tile floors. My "entertainment stand" (actually an old ~5' W x ~3' H solid wood dresser) is centered on the short wall with the TV on top of it; the RF3s set to each side of the entertanment stand (toed in slightly). I'd like to go with the 12d but seriously doubt that I can get one for 1/2 price like the 10d deal. Additionally, because of space limitations (& trying to find an RC-3II ), I've been considering the RCX-4 for my center speaker, for now, ceiling mounting it and swivelling it dowenward toward my approximate seating position. So, whatcha all think? peace, mitch
  11. Sounds like one HELLUVA deal!!!! I just tried bidding (unsuccessfully) for 2 RS3IIs and an RC3 and they went for $400. I have a pair of RF3IIs and would love to get the RS3IIs but cash flow is not too good and since most of my fam lives in NW IN and a friend works for the ChiTrib the pick-up wouldn't be toooooooo difficult to swing. If I hear of anybody up in Da Region looking for a good speaker set up I'll keep ya in mind. peace, mitch
  12. Two words ... Ugggh Leeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!! GM design needs to take a look @ DaimlerChrysler's Challenger concept on how to get the 'mystique' of the original yet bring it up to date. Let's just hope that they (DC) learns from how they FrackedUp the Charger production crap compared to the concept car! peace, mitch
  13. 1st vinyl? Hmmmmmmm .... 45s ... don't have a clue. LP ... Aerosmith Toys In The Attic for $3.99 @ Kresge's or Woolworth.

Recommended to me a fellow Forum member. ---------------- "Don't It Sound Good" by Jennie DeVoe ... track #7 from her newest CD (just released) Fireworks & Karate Supplies. peace, mitch

I'm looking to spend around $3000 + or -. I'm considering a Panasonic HDTV 42" Plasma. Their selling for 1/2 the original list-price. I've also sampled a 42" EDTV Plasma by JVC. I don't know much about this technology and it's use with TV's, any input or alternate recommendations would be appreciated. ---------------- Gilbert .... Check to see if the Panasonic HD Plasma is using Yamaha's Tru-Black(?) filtering screen. I saw the 1st and 2nd generation versions of this back in Jan/Feb and in side-by-side comparo it is outstanding against the other plasmas they (Ovation) had. The Yamaha rep told me the other companies they were producing these screens for & I *think* Panasonic was one but I ain't sure. Very good black background and great sharp colors. peace, mitch PS ... F1 ROCKS!!! Can't wait for 20 June ... tix arrived 5 weeks ago!

When it was not full of people things echoed really bad at Market Square Arena. Yes, ELVIS did have his last concert there. Now MSA is all torn down doomed to be a parking lot I am sure. ---------------- Actually IKF the old MSA lots are supposed to be mid-rise tower condos (like we need more $300K+ condos downtown) with street level retail space. I could use these for my 'nice' HT in my home photo gallery. They are holding their last 'in box' pair for me for one more day only. Or should I hold out for RF7 or keep with my heritage line? Thanks ---------------- Colter ... $750 for a pair of 5s .... Hell YES!!! BTW, which Ovation is blowing these out? Castleton, Greenwood or 38th St? peace, mitch

The Bluejays are a problem and continue to be backyard bullies. I wonder if the're good eaten'? ---------------- Boomac ... Blue Jays may be backyard bullies but them & crows are natural mosquito killers. I keep feeders, suet cages and bird friendly trees/flowers around my place. Cardinals, goldfinches & Carolina chickadees (too far south black-capped ones) are year-round visitors here in Indy as well as wrens, sparrows & other finches. My local mockingbird has finally found my suet cages and it's a hoot watching him/her trying to stay balanced with wing(s) flapping and pecking @ the suet. I sit near (within 10ft) my feeders and the birds have grown used to both me AND my cat being near them. The mockingbird will tolerate me being as close as 4ft from the suet cage now. The suet cages bring in nuthatches, chickadees, downy woodpeckers, flickers and occassionally a red-bellied woodpecker ... what a sight to see a 10-14" r-b woody perched and feeding on a 5" square suet cage! My most awesome sighting was seeing a Scissor-tailed Flycatcher ... what a gorgeous bird. It's also cool that we have Peregrine Falcons in downtown, Golden & Bald Eagles nesting within the county and a nest of Osprey too. Of course there the ever-present Turkey Buzzards, Red-tailed & Cooper's hawks too. Lastly, there are Green Herons and the state's largest Great Blue Heron rookery on the NE side in Ft. Ben State Park (formerly Ft Benjamin Harrison Army Base). And that's just some of the 'feathered' wildlife I see nearly every day.
  20. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ... Those wacky Canucks!
  21. Check the Serial number with Klipsch Customer Service or Product Registration ... they should know. Definitly *NOT* an RF-anything .... RB-xx maybe.

  23. U could try different cables. Go to RadioShaft, get a spool of their 12ga wire and screw on gold-plated banana plugs & DIY. Also, see if yr cuz will let you try yur Denon on his/her speakers. Good sound on his .... maybe bad connectors/cable. REMEMBER, Monster not always = great cables/sound. I now defer to the experts. peace, mitch
  24. MV .... 3 weeks? Mere nbabes, give 'em another 5-6 weeks minimum. IMHO. My Yammi is 75wpc in 2-ch, 5.1 & 5-ch. stereo..... or will be when I can upgrade past 2-ch. Have you tried to up the treble on the receiver? Oh, what gaug wire? 16? 12? Could be that. peace, mitch
