  1. Why are you keeping the Brand and Model of the Dac such a secret. You would probably get better responses if you told us what you were actually considering. Not at all... there is a Bel Canto V3 dac for sale and the owner just wants to move it for a very reasonable price... around 700 shipped... 2500$ new. They aren't really discounted new because production from bel canto is fairly low and quite boutiquey
  2. I think this make a trendous amount of good sense. Save the monies and put it to use elsewhere.
  3. OP... save yourself some capital and consider buying a used AVR unit, if that is the way you are leaning. pimple face brats at the local box store is about the worst way going about it... but I admit, it IS convenient. if this is a dedicated 2 channel, strongly consider dual monos or a stereo amp with dual mono architecture. forget all the fanciness of an AVR if you are not going to use it for HT duty. Less in the signal path, the better.
  4. take a phone video when the neighbor shows up at the doors step
  5. out perform? well the unit i am looking at has a dynamic range of 126db, max output of 5.5 Vrms balanced XLR/2.5 Vrms RCA, Master Clock jitter 2picosecond RMS, and THD+N <0.0015%... I guess I am wondering, will I be able to hear the difference though... or is it more cerebral and marketing. also, from what I have been reading... limited reading... is that bit depths higher than 24bits, induces distortion because of the algorithm used in encoding.
  6. Nice... but like most techno, it's about 57 minutes to long.
  7. the unit I am looking at is AMERICAN and I can pick it up for well under a grand and I don't need any USB capability.
  8. I find the same thing OP... and I to run mine 180 out because it seems less bloated and much tighter and cleaner. I go back and forth between in phase and out of phase at least 4-3 times a month just to be sure I am hearing what I am hearing.
  9. I have very happy with my current DAC running inside my OPPO 93, but I have a chance to get a better stand alone DAC for a really good price. What the hell are the differences besides samle rate and bit depth? Will I actually see and hear SIGNIFICANT. improvemnt in performance if I get spendy on a stand alone DAC or is my current cyrus DAC more than good enough? I bring this up because I see DAC's that are literally thousands and tens of thousands of dollars... is there that much difference in them? I can read specs and make judgements based on that, but I am looking for someone that really can explain this stuff in techo detail (yes, I know what a DAC does) The new unit I am considering originally retailed for more than $2500 and is a 24/192 with master clock and a proprietary power and input stage. The am considering this because I find myself REALLY enjoying digital music lately even though I NEVER play music from a computer, just digital media/cd/sacd/dvda etc.
  10. My peak so far was 106 Db for two min. Have not even had it half way as of yet. wow... that's crazy... my ear could not take that.
  11. http://tricities.craigslist.org/ele/4613409533.html If you aren't familiar with these spectacular speakers, you should do yourself a favor and look them up. Type 'Cornscala Style C' into your favorite search engine and click the first link. These speakers are based on the famous Klipsch Cornwall and La Scala speakers, hence the name 'Corn...Scala'. The main idea behind the 'Cornscala' was to put the strongest characteristics of both the original Klipsch Cornwall and La Scala into one near sonically perfect speaker. Each cabinet features a 15" woofer, a midrange horn, and a high frequency horn. The components (listed below) are top quality in every way. The designer of these speakers, Bob Crites, is very highly regarded in the audiophile community and has done amazing work with Klipsch speakers. The technical specs (from the main website) are listed below for your reference. These are some serious speakers by any standard so they don't come cheap.. I have a truck so I can deliver it to your house (if you live reasonably close to Chattanooga). If you are in a neighboring city like Nashville, Knoxville, or Birmingham I am willing to meet halfway. The original price for these speakers is $1723.00 + $400 (shipping) = $2123.00 delivered. The speakers are only 10 months old and have been used a few times a week. There are literally in 100% perfect condition without even the slightest spot on them. According to the website, these speakers are not even broken in yet. The speakers have been left unfinished so you can add the wood veneer of your choice. You can easily research the Cornscala on various hi-fi websites and forums. These speakers are very highly regarded across the audiophile community. The only reason I am selling them is because I am moving in a couple of months and the new house doesn't have a good wall for my current setup.. Anyway, simply reply to this listing and I will contact you directly by phone or respond via E-Mail. Thanks, MR

  15. and your point is what? This comment is literally such simpleton intellect that to give it credence would be like acknowledging that I have somehow been challenged to a power struggle with a five year olds undeveloped smooth grey matter. To the victor goes the spoils...
