  1. If you dont mind pre owned OP take a look at the Onkyo 806 over the 608... It has great preformance/value
  2. case in point... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rt=nc&nma=true&item=270654130772&si=VVgCUhvAex7PI6YW5cksiBB%252FFQk%253D&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEDWX%3AIT and i have seen more than this pricing lately... what seems to be happening?
  3. do you want to part with those Bonzo? i am in cali to... :-)
  4. thank you guys... I was wondering about this after seeing some set ups that seem to be stacking speakers in what seems to be the same channel
  5. quick question about multiple speakers on a single channel... Since I am technical newbie, I have often wondered what would be the consiquence of using more than one speaker per channel... eg using two cornwalls for the left channel and two for the right? what about three pre channel? does it half the output? thanks and sorry for the newbie question
  6. very cool... welcome. I am about an hour above Santa Barbara myself
  7. Very nice... How are you wiring your hereseys?
  8. I use an 806, I like it a lot.I dont use a sub, but there are times when I wish I had one for use. Also the 806 has pre outs if you want to do that. the 806 is a great deal for the money
  9. I have a big collection of these old 78's that I have been caring for for the last 40+ years... I never have listened to them as I dont have the mechanism to do so Form what I gather they were my great grand fathers, because there are some old edison Cylinders with some fairly Racist titles in there to. but most of them ate Duke, arte and blues/country based artists. I need a websited with more researchable info. does anyone have a source they would like to share?
  10. I've never seen that Kazuhito Yamashita video... quite stunning, thanks for sharing!
  11. Thanks! Give me a little time to finish them up and you would be more than welcome to come listen. mike tn Wow... that's awesome... I'm buying if we do get the chance to meet up
  12. i hope you guys know that the winning bid only shows the amount they beat you by and in reality they could have outbid you by thousands. you don't know if it was 2.53 - 20.53 - 200.53 or 2000.53. i bid 1800 on a set of cornwalls and got them for 900.. i was so happy i saved 900i usually only bid once with 15 seconds left in the auction. you should never show your bid early than that if you really want to win. don't give other bidders a chance to increase theirs. if you look at the winning bid they usually only bid once. this was no disrespect to Schu and again losing by 25 doesn't tell the whole story. the winning bidder could have bid 5 grand on these speakers. ^^Exactly... I thought in this climate $1700 was going to be enough to take those home... guess not. I dont need a sniper service though I do see teh usefulness for those that might be less inclined to watch auctions like I am.
  13. another mike in TN... go figure. Awesome awesome sound projectors there mike. love to experience them someday
  14. hmmm... thanks. I dont use snipers(dont want to pay for something I can do myself), i just need to pay more attention next time and be willing to ante up. seeing as I have over 1100 transactions(99% purchases) on Da Bay, I know my way around fairly well. I was just being hopeful that 1700 would take these home in this economic climate... oh well. now only if gilbert will accept an offer on a set of cornwalls I can skip over from TN to pick them up... not very hopeful there either
  15. yeah... I am the corner dunce the 1700 I bid that held till 10seconds left wasn't even close enough to the selling price of 1725... next time I will bid 1750 [] regardless of asking price, a thing is only worth what someone is willing to pay
  16. Les Paul just passed away... Godspeed Lester
  17. I could never understand the point of these lists... Having played myself for near 40 years, i find these comparisons very troubling... there is no such thing as the best art... it's just art. but if you want to discuss players and the styles you love personally, I have to go with a relatively short list in no particular order... Steve Howe Juan Serrano Adrian Belew - Frank Zappa Jimi Hendrix John Mclaughlin Danny Gatton Joe Pass Chet Atkins Les Paul Monte Montgomery - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8_6aa-TTvI Both those two links above are WELL worth the time to watch... Monte's for his technical ability, Adrians for his ultra subtle abilities, mastery of electronics and musical voice. Both videos are very special...
  18. OKay... what I want to know is, who outbid me for the Brazilian Belles on the Bay? Ugh Peace [D]
  19. OH MY GOD... that horn and belle are beautiful. [Y]
