  1. I need to go through my slide box. I think I have a few photos of her from back in the day...
  2. I ran Heresies an LA Scala at the same time with a 2226b for decades and it could drive you out of the room with the loudness it produced. Sounded great! Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
  3. Just got back from San Joe. Caught Tal Wilkenfield in San Francisco. Worth seeing, but I liked her better playing with Jeff Beck. Amazing, amazing bassist. Loved her lyrics and new songs, but her singing is lacking.
  4. Starting off: Tal Wilkenfield in San Francisco next Saturday night. Stevie Nicks and The Pretenders outside Detroit at the end of November.
  5. The literature with my B&W 802 Diamonds says to bi-wire. I have tried both and can tell no difference. The 802D have no jumper for a single wire setup.
  6. I don't even count how many I take. Used to take nothing but bodybuilding supplements until after 50. Now, with RA and fibromyalgia, A-fib, I take way too many. 60 was a turning point for meds.
  7. Yes, Seadog, that is right about John. I knew him pretty well. Dated his sister-in-law. John was married to Vonda. I dated her twin sister Rhonda. Stayed at their house in Fayetteville a few times when Rhonda was up there.
  8. One thing I have learned over the years is to partition your hard drive so that only the operating system is in a partition all its own. Use the other partition(partitions) so installing all your other programs and data away from the OS. This will save all other stuff away from the OS so restoring it is much easier.
  9. The boot HD will be looking for the configuration of your old motherboard and processor. I have switched out motherboards, switching the processor and had a boot without problems. You will most likely have to go into the setup menu and reconfigure the boot menu. I am no expert, but have always had two sons that could guide me through the procedure, if needed. They are both IT pros . One is a network and storage specialist and the other is head of global VR content for LeEco. Neither live in the area though. When I switched motherboards, it was with the same setup as the previous one. It has been many years since I did this, so take my advice with a grain of salt
  10. I find it a little harder on the eyes. Too much white and not enough contrast.
  11. He didn't put enough in on the initial charge.
  12. Low on Freon? Yes, it was. The AC installer said that when everything is 95+ degrees, the gauge readings are not accurate. He was right. There are no leaks. Just glad the heat wave has temporarily broken in these parts.
  13. Oh, the AC is finally working correctly. A very comfortable 72 degrees in the house!
  14. Dad had a great day. Thanks for the congratulatory messages. Judy and I took him and his girlfriend to lunch, then on to his party. Got to see lots of cousins and friends I haven't seen in years. It is just hard to remember to not look in the rearview mirror so I don't see him stealing a kiss from his girlfriend, Mardie.
  15. Couple of updates: The AV is working, but the oil keeps freezing up. It will get the house down to 77 degrees, then freeze. Just pulled the disconnect to let it thaw. Today is my Dad's 90th birthday party. Spent yesterday working on replacing boards in his house to repair a hole left from a floor furnace. Repairing 90 year old wood floors is extremely tedious!
  16. Does anyone know if Paul Hovenga is still actively working on audio gear? I have sent an email to the address listed on his website, and called the phone number on his website. No response to the email in over a week, and there was no answer at the phone number. The call went to a voicemail that had not been customized; it just said "you have reached the voicemail box of...." and gave the phone number. I posted an inquiry about this here: https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/164924-looking-for-vintage-gear-technician-recommendations/ but have not gotten any responses (other than a 'welcome' from one forum member). Thanks, Opus Paul was out of town for a few weeks. I just picked up four units from him a couple of weeks ago.
  17. Well, the AC isn't working as it should. Still just a little warm in the house. Don't know if the AC guy is going to get out this weekend and check. Poor guy nearly had a heat stroke each day he was in the attic. The attic temp is ranging from 130-140 degrees in the heat of the day. Comfortable enough so the "dog days" of summer aren't too bad. Even though, the dogs are laying around on the floor absorbing coolness from the tile. Still have some fans going to keep them comfortable. The floor looks like a flop house for dogs. Don't think I will be doing much outside this weekend. Going to my house in Clarksville tomorrow and repair some 90 year old oak flooring before my son moves back from Austin. He asked if he could live in the house for a couple of years while he looked for property to build on. I told him that when the floor is finished, he had to accept the fact that a pair of Cornwalls and a spare stereo system was going to be set up and he would just have to live with it.....
  18. When I first met PWK in 1976, I has some very interesting discussions about the Bell Labs research into 3 channel (phantom channel) playback. Turns out my cousin who introduced me to the Bell Labs research in 1970 also knew Paul (my cousin was a full bird colonel). My cousin demo'ed his console that he designed and had handbuilt in Formosa with the three channel set up. He paid Chinese labor 10 cents an hour to build the most ornate console I had, or ever have seen since. This was inside the mansion that had been owned by Chester Lauck (of Lum 'n Abner fame) in Mena.
  19. What Roy has said reminded me of when I was in college. I worked maintenance at the local brick factory. The owner came to me one day and said, "Mike, I want you to go over to the new shop and build me a couple of metal work benches." I told him, "EK, I don't know how to weld". He said, "Mike, did you not hear me? I want you to go over and build me a couple of metal workbenches.". I reiterated me statement about not knowing how to weld. He then said, "Look, go over there and build the damn benches. Look around you, there are men here with 40 years experience. Talk to them about what you need to learn." After I graduated and went to work for him full time, he pulled the same thing. "Mike, I need you to design the new addition to the factory. Get to work on the drafting table and lay out the building and the rails for the kiln cars. The engineering library is behind you." The project was about a year from start. Not only did I learn how to weld and how to cut a nut off a bolt without damaging the treads on the bolt, I laid out a very large building, along with structural specifications and drawings to match up the existing rails with those in the new building. Learning never stops!
  20. I had to sell a pair of JBL 4411 and Altec Lansing 9842D to help finance the AC/gas furnace combo. Still need to sell a car and maybe some other speaks to finish paying for it. Thought about my La Scala, but I just don't want to really sell them. Good thing I didn't list them since Judy says "no way"! I guess I could sell a pair of Epic CF-2. I listed several vintage receivers, and a linear TT, but in this area, not many people want to buy vintage stuff. I do have a couple of Technics SP-25 and a pair of Russco Studio Pro B I could part with. All the receivers were gone through by Paul79. Oh well, I need to thin my collection, I just don't like going the ePrey route. The people in this area that are into vintage gear want a $500 receiver for $20.
  21. AC came back on about 5 PM. Quickly dropped the temp to 88 in the house from 91. Slowly bringing it down. Right now, it is at 77. Got a good night's sleep. It is amazing what temperature sinks we have in a house. Hopefully it will stabilize at 73 today. Especially since the heat index is supposed to be 117 today!
  22. The bone spur on my clavicle was pointing right into the rotator cuff area. The biceps tendon overlaps the shoulder joint for stability and attaches to the coracoid process on the scapula. This provides greater leverage for the biceps muscle. The shoulder structure is complicated.
  23. I had mine torn completely. They also had to relocate my biceps tendon from the scapula around to the top of the humerus. Lost about 60% of my bceps strength. He also removed about an inch of the clavicle. All due to years in the martial arts and strength training. Removed about 3/4" of the process on the scapula the biceps tendon attached to. Started physical therapy a week after surgery. The pain was the worst I have ever experienced since the hospital didn't tell me to start the pain meds right away. They had done a nerve block which wore off at about 2 am the morning after surgery. It was like flipping a light switch, no pain to unbearable in an instant. It was hard to catch up once the pain starts. Starting PT a week after was the best decision ever. You must stay with it religiously or you will pay more later! All this was due to a calcium deposit shaped like a cone pointing right into the rotator cuff. My biceps tendon was nearly cut right through. If I had waited any longer, I would have lost completely the use of one head of the biceps muscle. Once the tendon is cut like this, it is impossible to reattach. Good luck and I know you can work through it. Just be patient and follow PT program.
  24. Still no AC. He should be finished today. Temp is supposed to hit 100 today so I dang sure hope we have it going. Been a miserable 5 days during the hottet temps so far this year!
