  1. No course book, but a lot of rationalization. He was on a whole different level than denial. This isn't political, it is historical, and this is the quote that summarizes it all: Nixon: Well, when the president does it that means that it is not illegal. Frost: By definition. Nixon: Exactly. Exactly. If the president, for example, approves something because of the national security, or in this case because of a threat to internal peace and order of significant magnitude, then the president's decision in that instance is one that enables those who carry it out, to carry it out without violating a law. Otherwise they're in an impossible position.
  2. I have always wanted to go the "The Hall." It would take something like a Klipsch Gathering to get me to go up to Cleveland for that sole purpose. Unfortunately, it is just too short notice and I have a short week going anyway. I think it is a great idea and I am sorry I am going to miss if it turns out happening. I voted No but definitely interested. Thank you for thinking of us and thank you for being the official speaker of rock and roll. Travis
  3. Here is a taste of what it is like. This I would describe as moderate, at least what is comming through in the visual. You see trucks pulled over to sidebof road, at about 2 minutes in the driver pans down to the speedometer to show speed. You could not drive that fast in a "heavy rain", even with polorized lenses, which help. That looks to have been taken during the day, even as dark as it is. https://youtu.be/rIjOYpAfusw
  4. Rains almost every day down there on Gulf Coast in the summer.I have friends in Seattle and Vancouver, and they claim it can be overcast, NO sun, for six months solid. Is that true? They say when sun comes out, it is opposite to Snow Day, everyone skips school, work, whatever, to enjoy the Sun. Everytime I have been there is has been beautiful and sunny.
  5. I grew up on the West Coast, first 26 years, but had visited family in Texas briefly all through that time. Apparently, always managing to miss bad rain. Moved here in '97, and within a couple of months knew what everyone was talking about when they described the rain as "coming down in sheets." It literally does. I have witnessed several times where people have to come to a complete stop on the freeway because you cannot see in front of you, even with the fastest of wipers. It was quite an eye opener. So the big PSA ads running the last couple of days are the familar: Turn around. Don't drown.
  6. Yes, although we are in the process of modifying/expanding the Terms of Service. A sneak peak is available here: https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?app=forums&module=extras&section=boardrules Still being tweaked by Klipsch counsel, so, as it states - SUBJECT TO CHANGE. The same 3 rules still apply in this expanded form though. Oh no, I know what a lawyer can do to "3 simple rules."
  7. From my Post No. 12 in this thread: "These have nothing to do with current Admin or Mods, it is about seeing this all before. I think it is good to look at history. As Chad and others have mentioned, this stuff is cyclical, There is nothing really new here in my opinion, it is just the cycle we are in." That of course is just my opinion, I may be totally off base on that. If I am, someone just say so, and I will move on to something else. I have a pretty good memory and with this great search function on this Forum it is pretty easy to find these old threads. I believe it is important to look at history here for several reasons. First, it makes people realize that what you post is there forever, especially if someone quotes you. People can try to claim they take the high road, or whatever, but there is a paper trail, so to speak, of what you say in here, and how you say it. Anyone can go in and look to see if you are a pot stirrer, resort to personal attacks, bait threads with politics, provide help, advice, comfort, or whatever. Boxx's Family can, and did, go in and see how he interacted with people. I feel confident they had many happy and proud moments going back and reading his posts. He left a proud legacy, just as Old Buckster did. I think it also helps moderators and posters alike to see what has worked in the past, and what maybe hasn't worked. None of what has happened in the last couple of weeks hasn't happened on this Forum before. Threads being locked, people resigning, members being banned, moderators being tested, posters deleting their old content, etc. It has ALL happened before. I have already posted an example in this thread where people had hurt feelings because threads were deleted and they were not the offenders but had spent "valuable time" responding/providing content. They even so far as to put what their time was worth per hour. That is the potential downside of letting a potentially political thread to even get out of the starting gate: people think that because their time is valuable it somehow makes their content valuable. It doesn't, it's just your opinion and unless that is your job in the media, it is worth nothing, except what joy and satisfaction it brings to you, as the POSTER. It should bring someone joy and satisfaction by helping ithers out. Unfortunately, the history of this Forum, as is true everywhere, reveals that some people get joy and pleasure by name calling, humiliating, and personal attacks. Fortunately, the history of this Forum makes clear that it doesn't go unnoticed and they are an endangered species here. I don't know if anyone gets the same benefit that I have in looking back. If not, say so and I will move on. If they are helpful, I can post one from time to time that is a close repeat if what is happening currently in the Forum. Like I said, I have a good memory so it makes it easy to go back and look stuff up. I have at least 20 more moderator examples "in the can." I hope everyone is having a wonderful day today. Travis
  8. An 11 year old thread? Many forum members and Klipsch employees have come and gone over that time span. I'm not quite sure how it's relevant to current events unless you're using history to establish a pattern? Nothing gets by you does it?
  9. Some commentary by Forum members about the 2 channel Forum being locked down over the weekend. https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/38826-banning-posts-forum-censorship/page-3?hl=locked Some comments about free speech, how relatively tolerant the Klipsch forum is about many things. Didn't someone here say there are only 3 simple rules?
  10. Trey Cannon, 11 years ago. He gave out warnings about personal attacks, which of course went unheeded. He shut down the 2 Channel Forum over the weekend. He has a post in there about what to think about before hitting the post button. Degree of Difficulty: 5.0 (entering hostile territory after shutting down the entire 2 channel thread) Style points: 10.0. (Ignores personal comments about himself, gives simple and straightforward advice that any 10 year old would, and should know. https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/38878-2-channel-shutdown-overreaction-to-childish-flames/?hl=locked#entry351700 Might be a good idea to test in this periodically.
  11. Cortez? I need to go back and look at the maps. If so I am sure you will be going to stop in and see the cliff dwellings.
  12. Have a great trip and safe travels. If you think you will be pulling through Austin at lunch or dinner time let me know and I will buy you lunch or dinner. Be extremely careful on 87 going into San Angelo all the way to Brady. I am not sure how much they are running pipe trucks these days but last year that was a very deadly stretch of road according to my DPS friends. Travis
  13. +1 on the swimming, as you already know from Triathlon training, most aerobicly intensive exercise, zero impact, and there are water exercise for low back pain and to strengthen muscles. http://www.spine-health.com/wellness/exercise/water-therapy-exercises
  14. Thanks Roger, We actually got out of there in a gap in the weather. Those sound like wonderful books. Travis
  15. My Mom just emailed me the following: This is a true story? Well maybe... A young cowboy from Texas goes off to college. Half way through the semester, having foolishly squandered all his money... he calls home. "Dad," he says, "You won't believe what modern education is developing! They actually have a program here at A&M that will teach our dog, Ole' Blue how to talk!" "That's amazing," his Dad says. "How do I get Ole' Blue in that program?" "Just send him down here with $1,000" the young cowboy says "and I'll get him in the course." So, his father sends the dog and $1,000. About two-thirds of the way through the semester, the money again runs out. The boy calls home. "So how's Ole' Blue doing son?" his father asks. "Awesome, Dad, he's talking up a storm," he says, "but you just won't believe this -- they've had such good results they have started to teach the animals how to read!" "Read!?" says his father, "No kidding! How do we get Blue in that program?" "Just send $2,500, I'll get him in the class." The money promptly arrives. But our hero has a problem. At the end of the year, his father will find out the dog can neither talk, nor read. So he shoots the dog. When he arrives home at the end of the year, his father is all excited. "Where's Ole' Blue? I just can't wait to see him read something and talk!" "Dad," the boy says, "I have some grim news. Yesterday morning, just before we left to drive home, Ole' Blue was in the living room, kicked back in the recliner, reading the Wall Street Journal, like he usually does". "Then Ole' Blue turned to me and asked, so, is your daddy still messing around with that little redhead who lives down the street?" The father went white and exclaimed, "I hope you shot that lying dog before he talks to your Mother!" "I sure did, Dad!" "That's my boy!" The kid went on to law school, and now serves in Washington D.C. as a Congressman.
  16. Yes, right between Cleburne and Burleson, some super serious hail and winds last night. My Mom's old home, town Olden, had a tornado, one death unfortunately. Travis
  17. Up in Fort Worth area for Mother's Day, hail the size of golf balls, tornados, lightning, and floods. Happy Mother's Day to everyone.
  18. Everybody hit the nail on the head, they onlybthing I can add is that I reccomend maximum torqueage. Use a torque wrench that has a Certificate of Validation to be "dead on balls accurate." It's an industry term.
  19. Luther did a pair of corner speakers is Rosewood, here is the link with photos https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/68441-diy-garage-project-brazilain-rosewood-veneer/?hl=project
  20. Nonsense, that is Grade-AAA professional work.... thank you so much for posting (better late than never). Sure would like to know a reliable seller where that kind of veneer could be purchased. Anyone know? Greg? Luther (wardsweb) knows, especially in rosewood. The grain, pre-ban, iron on, glue on, etc. I seem to recall that he is getting it recently by mail in rolled up in large mailing tubes. I can have him pm if you want.
  21. It most certainly belongs to you, no banking regs have changed this. It you do a number of paypal transactions set up a seperate account for this, just like you should do for IRS 941 deposits.
