  1. His publicist was most likely trying to put a better spin on what is an akward news item about his client.
  2. Not to jinx it or anything, but what state might you be headed to? Carl
  3. I believe you can pay for a list of fax #'s. Well, I called all 3 credit agencies. Their recorders say that you can just call one and they'll send info to the other two, but I didn't want to take a chance on missing anything. The police dept got a call from me also, so now I have a police report case number to go along with the fraud paperwork from the bank. My son has closed his checking account (except for $5.00) and opened another. What a pain in the a$$. The bank has fraud protection so he'll get his money back. The worst part about it is the fact that the lost dollar ammount is most likely too low for a detective to spend much time working on the case. Then there's the fact that some scumbag has my sons SSN, address, birthdate etc and will most likely use it for no good. You gotta hope there's a special place in hell for these idiots. Thanks for all the advice (except for you JB[]).
  4. I found a name on my wifes notes. She was talking to someone named "Eric Bradford", if that was his real name. I googled him also. There seems to be someone in the Houston area with that name pulling all sorts of scams. Hmmmmmm.
  5. Not even remotely close to Top Notch. Is that James brother?
  6. Thanks, I'll work on that tomorrow.
  7. I saw that when I googled the phone #. It seems I'm not alone.
  8. Yes, they have his SSN. Where would I go to put a fraud alert and lock?
  9. Short background story. My 19 year old son had a great job, complete with company sponsored 401k and medical ins. The downturn in his job market caused him to be laid off. He found another job, at a small company which did not have health insurance. Since he's been working there we've stressed the importance of having health insurance in case something happened to him. My wife and I can no longer keep him on our insurance due to the fact that he's graduated highschool and not in college. While he was at work one day his company received a fax toting health insurance for 89 dollars a month. He brought it home for us to look at. My wife decided to check it out due to the fact that she has worked in the medical field for years and had done a lot of billing and coding insurance claims. She called the toll free number and absolutely grilled the guy on the other end with very specific questions. She was satisfied and we ended up giving them my sons personal information and bank routing info. They deducted his enrollment fee and 1'st months premium. Fast forward nearly a month later. We hadn't heard form them nor have we received a policy or any paperwork. The toll free number (866-410-9954) is no longer good. I'm going to either call or go to the bank tomorrow to find out if they can trace the money. I'd like advice on what questions to ask and what authorities should be contacted? Should I contact any of the credit reporting agencies as someone has all my sons personal info? Thanks. Carl
  10. Just get something close. Remember, crossthreading is natures locktite.
  11. Are you talking about t-nuts? If so, most hardware stores sell them. They look like THIS.
  12. Does this need to be humorous or captioned for an advertisement?
  13. Welcome to the forum. There have been several posts about the amps in the SUB-10 going bad. Most people get a replacement amp from Klipsch. I've not read which particular component in the amp typically fails. If you're good with pc boards and amp topology, you might check it out and report back.
  14. I'd say a trip to the urologist is in order.
  15. I'll be impressed if you can get JB in on this program.
  16. very few (none that I know of) pre/pro's allow setting distance via their multi channel inputs. The multi ch inputs on pre/pros are an analog pass thru which does not convert the signal from analog to digital to adjust the distances then back to analog, so the signal comming into most pre/pros analog section is dependent upon the device doing the DA conversion for all neccessary adjustments, as adjustments are done in the digital domain before conversion. So those using the multi channel outs on the Oppo need to know this in advance. The Oppo does allow for setting distances , as long as they're all the same or less, so L -10ft C- 10ft R-10ft, these are acceptable what is not is L- 15 ft C- 9ft R-11ft this is not supported. So if for example your setup is like ex. 2 the speakers would all play at the 15ft setting hence everything being out of whack. Makes sense. I missed the part about multi channel input. I was thinking HDMI.
  17. That's the first instance of a woman driver doing something peculiar that I can recall.
  18. I can't seem to find it, but groomlakearea51 has a pretty detailed post on making grills. You might search his post. As I recall, there were a bunch of pics.
  19. It's hard to get a good idea of depth from the pics, but be sure to bring the speaker as far forward (away from the wall) as possible. If it sits too far back and is pointing downward, you'll reflect some of the sound upward off the mantle. Looks great!
  20. Just curious, why would you want to set your speaker distance in the player as opposed to your receiver?
  21. Typically, for movies, you want a sub that will go to 20Hz or below as there is a bunch of info down there. If you use your sub for music, the ability to go below 20Hz isn't that critical.
  22. All you're doing is splitting the signal. The "power" comes from the built in amps on the subs.
