  1. A couple years ago I bought a Denon stereo reciever from them and everything was ok. A year or so ago I bought a set of RSX5's. I paid x-tra for next day delivery and two weeks later I called them on it and they had them out in the next day or so if I recall. NEVER AGAIN. Not really sure what goes on at that place but communication is terrible. Even though Authorized is a bit more money I would probably go that route if there ever is a next time. Local dealers for me are pretty good.
  2. Well now, maybe there is hope for my old Klipsches after all. Thanks....

  4. Little over 10 years ago I had the biggest electric of the time. Can't remember the name but 4 wheel drive and 4 wheel steering. Took me a few weeks to build it after work on a card table. Ball bearings oil shocks 200 dollar programmable speed controller and high quality servo. Should have kept it, traded it for a real dirt bike then graduated to a race Honda 250R 4 wheeler. Back to the truck, my favorite was the stock plastic body which was repainted several times due to crashes and modifications. Tried them but thought they were too flimsy (polycarbonate bodys)and could not take abuse. Figured I had close to a thousand bucks in this thing with all the battery packs and little customized things I did to it. At the time I was about 28 or so and I once went to a small town hobby shop where all the younger guys had their trucks and cars on the off road track. I never said anything and I didn't have it with me but mine would have smoked them at the starting line, and that was with a stock motors. Some of the best times of my life......now it's stereo I remember now, Clodbuster.
  5. Spikes....pointed metal/aluminum legs on the bottom of the 4.2's. The speakers came new with black plastic covers over these. A year ago I re-discovered they were there (spikes) and slipped a pad of concrete underneath to change the sound.
  6. Thanks for your comment Scp53, I hope you enjoy your time here. If you are interested......Audiogon and AVS forums are pretty informational.
  7. Hi John, Those 4.2's will be plenty big enough to fill about any bedroom with sound. My 4.2's have been powered by a Denon 40 watt reciever for about the last 12 years or so. I have been able to change the sound tremendously by using the original spikes hidden underneath the plastic covers, and then by putting concrete pads {stepping stones} underneath them. I heard maybe they would sound even better powered by some tube equipment. I usually listen at soft to moderate listening levels. There is a guy that hangs out here at this forum that does crossover modifications and I'm trying to find out if these 4.2's are worth the trouble and expense of any available modifications. Enjoy them as they have the ability to let you hear great detail.
  8. Thanks for asking that Marvel.... Didn't want to ask too much, I just figured there was a reason and they weren't just randomly placed. Those look reeeeeally good in Maple too!
  9. Hey, those are nice looking monos too! Probably a lame question but... why are those two little metal (boxes?) on the back of each of those amps turned different directions? That dark wood looks real good What do those cost...approximately, and how much power do they push?
  10. Having never owned or operated a tube amp before if (I) were looking into some tube mono's those (Cayin) Bizzybee amps look great! If they look good and sound good to (you) or (me) then I would not hesitate to try them. American German or Martian made..........
  11. Sure hope I made the right choice because I just recieved a new last years model Denon #2900 they were selling out. The picture is much more detailed and lot's more colorful! My tv is a regular old 27" Sony. It also looks good with the other 2 pieces of Denon sitting there. The guy's before me are giving good advice as I am not real smart when it comes to all this fancy talk.
  12. Been a while for me but, be at McDonalds at 11:00 and I'll buy lunch.....Big Macs on the house!
  13. Holy Smokes!....and I thought 70-75 was pushing it. checked with an official rat shack meter.
  14. racksandstands.com and standsandmounts.com have quite a lot to choose from and have easy to navigate websites.
  15. I know exactly what you are talking about Ill, Some people say it will make no difference and I'm just wasting my time but (to me) there seems to be more low volume control and yes, the need to crank the knob further. Seems like the best way for me. ...this being for two channel only.
  16. I am just getting ready to bi-wire my liv. rm. receiver with 12 gauge cable ... again. The first time seemed like a success after listening to my old polk's. The more fuller sound sounds familiar with better low volume control. For me going from 14 gauge to heavier 12 gauge on my 12 year old Klipsch made me happy. And, that's what this is all about right?
  17. ( wwwracksandstands.com ).......?
  18. This may or may not help but on my 27" Sony the video(picture) is running through the "s" cable and the audio is running through two component cables. I just didn't use one component cable. This may get you started, but there is probably a way to get the "best" out of your system from someones elses advice. ..cheers..
  19. ...correction.... The concrete pads go underneath the speakers.
  20. If the kg4's are anything like my 4.2's there is a huge difference that can be made with them. I went to a home remodel store and bought 2-12"x12" concrete pads of concrete and set the speakers underneath and used the supplied spikes with the speakers. All the boominess disappeared and the sound is just better. Cheap fix for a couple of bucks.
