  1. You're more likely to burn up the pump trying get to get it all out. Stabilizer would be my recommendation. Also, if it's in storage for a long duration, try to find some E0 gas to dilute it with. The process is getting better and better all the time. Chances are, that farmer has a old school thought and hasn't really put much else thought into it (most of them are clueless about it anyway). It's been awhile since I've caught up with all the ethanol talk from the many car forums I provide tuning advice, but what is used to make ethanol is essentially waste. As engines are built to take advantage of these types of fuels (no, your FlexFuel vehicle is not), power and MPG's increase. Pistons rock during normal operation, which is why they are slightly barreled. Audible knock is more like marbles in a coffee can and generally too late for a motor pushing a lot of power. Octane is the fuels resistance to detonation, not the speed at which it burns. Knock sensors are reactive in the ECU pulling timing. Some cars will be proactive in pulling timing, but only because it's experienced enough knock in a given RPM and load to warrant a problem.
  2. I love ethanol; the more the better! It's cheap race fuel! I run E85 in two of my vehicles and store them 5-6 months at a time without any additives and have been doing it for like 6 years. Couple key things for doing that... Don't have a carburetor (or have an ethanol safe one) and keep the system sealed. Never had a problem with ethanol drying out rubber and I had stock return line, EVAP, and rank in my supercharged 1995 SHO. My STi is mostly stock fuel parts, and my S2000 only has an injector swap (OEM STi injectors at that). Most of the Subaru's I convert are just pump and injector swaps (and tune) a dyno I've yet to see an issue. Now for my carbed motorcycle, minibike, and lawn mower, I use stabilizer with E10 fuel. As far as burning food for fuel. What is used for making ethanol was never going to be used as food.
  3. Yeah, it's irritating. If I tell someone I have some Reference (RF-62 IV... Which is also annoying that the next generation is II) speakers (someone who's just getting into HT and/or audio) immediately thinks of the new "Reference" line.
  4. These are not Heresys but you definitely will not "need" a sub with these for just music. http://quadcities.craigslist.org/ele/5470409422.html Bill I guess that depends on the music you listen to. I listen to all kinds of music, but some of it definitely digs pretty deep.
  5. I sent him an e-mail. I'm guessing he'll want to much to justify his used speaker over a new cherry vinyl from Crutchfield for $350 shipped.
  6. It is, but if you want cherry, just buy this: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_714RC62IIC/Klipsch-Reference-RC-62-II-Cherry.html
  7. Omaha, NE. I sent an e-mail to the guy in Nashville and never got a response.
  8. Looking for an RC-62, preferably black and preferably the first version. Must be mint.
  9. not sure if this is your setup or not but this was one of the images that inspired me to try three identical speakers across the front. Very cool! Yep, that's my setup, however, I will be moving here soon and will lose the theater (keeping my speakers) and not likely to do another only because I'm more of a music person.
  10. Receivers with preouts are in the $600 and up range these days, which is pretty frustrating. I recently got a Marants NR1605 so that I can have all the features, surround sound, and at least preouts for the front two main speakers.
  11. 3 identical floorstanding speakers will be the best match across the front three if you can do it.
  12. I have a set of RF-62's I've owned since 2008. The only upgrade I really see worth doing is an RF-7 II, otherwise I'd just keep the 62's.
  13. Is it the high altitude, or weed... Or yes?
  14. I'm glad I'm moving back to Denver, I can make a killing on used Klipsch speakers. https://denver.craigslist.org/ele/5497834572.html
  15. If it drives on rails, you're not driving hard enough! Yeah, my S2000 is my track car. I started competing in NASA Time Trials at the end of last season and I'm already digging it over HPDE. It paid out a free set of Hoosier R7's my first event. It's helps that I placed first in my class. I couldn't drive this car daily, especially mine. It's small, it's stiff (although good Ohlins coilovers), and drones... But I don't even daily my STi, which I could, but when I drive it, it's because it's a nice day.
  16. I just upgraded my setup... I had a sub I wanted to use that my dad and I built 20 years ago (which I upgraded about 5 years ago with new drivers, BASH plate amp, and much better port). I picked up a Dayton T amp and moved my RB-51's to computer duty. I'm pretty happy with it. It's all setup temporarily for now.
  17. If I were local, I'd make an offer. GLWS
  18. Haha, okay. The Honda is a blast on track. I believe I hit 16 track days last year with it and competed in 1 Time Trials (TTB) event with NASA, and won. Hoosier sent me a free set of R7's for the win too. My local track, which is only 10 minutes away is Raceway Park of the Midlands (Formerly Mid America Motorplex), but I try to hit different tracks through the country each year. Here's one of my last NASA events this past season. I had already won my class, so I just lined up in the back and chased cars down: This was the last event of the season where I finally tried using both my GoPro's at the same time: Yep, Yamaha made the old V6 SHO motors. Great engines, but the car around it wasn't ideal. I am currently the tuner for a 95 SHO in Atlanta that has been upsetting records and with his current setup going in, we are hoping to get him deep into the 10's in the 1/4 and 170+mph in the half (currently at 11.55 in the 1/4 and 151mph in the 1/2).
  19. Nice! Are those powder coated? I don't know what holds up to that high heat. Back in the late 70's I modded my Dodge van 318 cuin 8 cyl engine with Hooker Headers, Arvin Asp muffler, cold air intake, Eldebrock manifold, Holley 650/400 cmf carb (two smaller holes for economy, 2 larger holes for power). Of course it made the van run strong, but because of the increased gas flow and opened up exhaust, it got great gas mileage way ahead of its time! As long as you kept your foot off the gas, of course. It's a ceramic coating by SwainTech. It's applied as a molten state as I understand. It's very thick and requires a grinder to get off. I've used it on 3 headers and a turbo exhaust housing now. It's pricey and takes awhile to get your parts back, but it's supposedly the best coating you can get. Keep your foot off the gas? Blasphemy... Flat! Out! I've modded a few cars over the years and have been tuning customer cars for some time when time permits between my civilian and military jobs. The car in my Avatar is a 1995 Taurus SHO that I sold a few years ago. I built it up pretty nicely and made 550whp on 14 PSI. My current toys are an S2000 (track car) and an STi (mostly a garage queen because of spotty weather here). Both cars don't see winter driving, so they're stored under a cover for 6 months a year, which is one of the many reasons I'm trying to move back to Arizona this year. Track car Looks stock This is what the header in the previous post is going on: Sorry if I posted too many pictures.
  20. Just curious, if there aren't any complaints on the crossover on the RF-7, why do I see threads about modifying the crossover on internet searches?
  21. Cars and racing is my biggest hobby, so most of my new stuff involves expensive automotive parts. That said, I just recent got a new header.
  22. I'm sure many won't like this, but I prefer my RF-62's over my dad's LaScala's (which I grew up with and never thought they dug deep enough for me), so I imagine the RP-280F's would do pretty well. I haven't heard the new line yet, but I've been very happy with the RF-62's I have. I wouldn't mind a set of RF-63's or RF-7 II's, but I don't "need" them, so I haven't felt the need to spend the money.
