  1. I just discovered the problem. You're pumping CNN through them? Wolf Blitzer will blow tubes all day long.
  2. Lisa You might have mentioned this elsewhere, but I can't see thumbing through 15 pages of talk about wall voltage. I was just wondering what your're listening to while your amps are at Craig's? You aren't going music-less are you?
  3. Yeah, but did you notice the nice ladder in the background? Sweet! That ladder is sweet but how about the papasan chair. I'll bet it's original.
  4. That's why it's called Bargain Land and not Customer Comes First Land.
  5. Boy I don't know.... looks like someone might have got a real "bargain" at BargainLand. http://cgi.ebay.com/Klipsch-Cornwall-III-Cherry-3-Way-Horn-Loudspeaker-NR_W0QQitemZ170103859135QQihZ007QQcategoryZ3276QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Is that a III in the picture? I don't know the Cornwall that well. They put the little piece of paper with their logo in the photo. I imagine they don't pack all that well but even with a little damage, 1/3 off list price isn't too bad.
  6. Yep you do remember the knobs. The two handed turn of the sidecar the most notable. That's a lot of amplifiers. How did you ever wind up with that many?
  7. Ok, I can let one negative comment go by but not two![] If properly rebuilt these little beauties sound tremendous. I would doubt there is anything that sounds loads better than a pair of these in good operating condition. Different, maybe a little better, maybe a little worse, but I'll bet nothing is loads better. If they weren't so damn precious I'd take them to Indy so others could hear them. I agree you can find as good of sound for a lot less, my Blueberry for example, but that isn't what Gilbert's after here. PS. You must not remember them that well, smooth turning controls they do not have. Kind of clunky actually.
  8. That turntable has an "S" shaped tonearm doesn't it? Careful with cartridge allignment. Most of the normal allignment gages work for straight tonearms but not so well for these "S" shaped tonearms. If you still have the 45 adapter that comes with this table, there is a built in allignment guage on it for setting the cartridge overhang. Instructions should be in the manual.
  9. Seti, Not exactly. I mean the external power supply to the preamps. He has only one of them. The peamp is just a sculpture without it. I suppose you could build one if you had the other to copy. Wouldn't be pretty though. But those 9's would be the best power supply for your speakers! I have a pair at Audio Classic being repaired right now. A major hole in my Marantz tube gear collection will be filled. Still missing the 2's and those silly speaker crossover boxes.
  10. That pair will only make a good mono preamp until he finds the other power supply!
  11. That link is offered as an alternative site on the web link I listed. There's also a couple of others. Craig, on the subject of tube testing, will you please include some tested values on the tubes I provided you with. I'm going to test them with my tester, and compare the results. My Hickock has not been recently calibrated, and I'd like to know how the results will compare. What model of Hickok do you have Gilbert. I have a 752 that was calibrated a couple of years ago, although I was told that there is not much to calibrate in this model.
  12. Absolutely. I have a 20X/H on my Linn connected to my Blueberry.
  13. Craig, At least she picked a fitting username. "Me again". I was a little slow in catching on to that one.
  14. That would be about the going rate for a 505 with a box and manual. Wonder what cartridge is on it? His description of "the best diamond stylus" is useless. If it really was the best stylus, it would cost $10,000.00 For $200, you should look to spend $100 on the turntable and $100 on a new cartridge. I never trust any cartridge that comes with a used table. Like an AR XA or a Philips 212. Then buy a Grado Red cartridge or Goldring Elektra cartridge. There's 100's of way to go, I just threw those out as reasonable things to look for. Other budget used favorites... Vintage Thorens TD150 and TD160, Dual 1229, newer but still used models like ProJect, Music Hall. And also the Technics models mentioned above if they haven't been used hard by a DJ.
  15. Scott, That is great on the Tandberg!!!!!! You can get in the tape exchange for round 2 which will be starting up in about a month. Which model did you get? As you know, it is one of my favorite sounding decks. I don't think there is a better sounding reproducing deck out there. I am trying to remember, is this one from the friend of yours that wasn't willing to let it go? Travis That's pretty cool about your 300+ collection. That's quite a few. Back when I had my TEAC, I used to look for pre recorded rock reels, they're almost all 31/2 speed which I thought was a bummer. In any event, I bought a TD20A based on your reccomendation. It could be very nice or could be a lemon. The seller wasn't an audio person. She did have it professionally packed and shipped though. I'll know for sure next week. Would love to be in on the tape swap although I don't have much to swap at the moment!

  17. Heck, I see you just bought these on ebay. Now that I see what they're worth(not that much), open them up and play away.
  18. +1 The patent attorney we use at our company said no attorney will get involved in patent disputes unless there's at least $1,000,000 in sales involved. Not worth it to them for anything less. And just try taking legal action without an attorney. You'll get nowhere fast. I wonder if D-Man ever got this patent. It was applied for in 12/05 which means it's still probably being looked at.
  19. Travis, How much are they worth sealed vs how much are they worth opened? If it's substantial, you might save them for someone who collects these sort of things for collectors value as opposed to someone like yourself that just wants to spin some reels. By the way, I finally picked off a Tandberg. Won't see it for a few days.
  20. And you didn't even ask for our cosmetic design assistance? The nerve.
  21. Lisa, More on this? How does this hook up to a Peach?
  22. The Klipschorn pictures leave a lot to be desired. Someone turn on the lights.
  23. Dodger, what's up? Good to hear you.
  24. Those attending Indy are really in for a treat! The pCATs are a new standard in my world. No I haven't compared them to every other amp in the world and I apologize if some think that i am going over the top with my praise. But unless you have heard them I cannot accept your opinion. I simply cannot believe that I have this level of fidelity in my house and can listen to it every day. Un freakin believable. Josh To date, I am having the exact same experience. I've kept my mouth shut for the most part to avoid spreading "Jubilee over exposure forum backlash" syndrome onto the pCATS.
  25. From that salty Northern Illinois offshore breeze I guess.
