  1. A used Rogue 66 with line and remote is close to your range. I personally was not a huge fan of mine but then again, I bought it new and paid more than twice that. Here's one on A-gon. For 600 or 700, I would have like it a lot better! http://cls.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?preatube&1105953759
  2. I should have read your other thread. If you can find a forum member in Orlando to pick them up for you, that would be #1 choice. But, I would think if you call the guy on the phone and you get a decent feeling, then go for it. Send the check to the Ebay listed address only? Shouldn't matter to him wheter he recieves the check at his office or home.
  3. Are the addresses even close? Give me the guy's name and address(in a Private message) and I can run a people search on him here at my office. Gives me all current and former addresses. You can also be up front with him and tell him your concerns. Ask for his phone number and call him. Some more red flags are 1. He has no feedback since last June 2. He does not have any other acutions going nor any bidding activity either. I also asssume, you contacted him through Ebay via the "ask seller a question" button as opposed to an email he sent you. If you're still concerned, tell him you have a brother in Tampa who can come pick them up to save you the shipping cost. Ask when would be a good time for your brother to come and pick them up. Set up a time and date and let it pass. If he contacts you to say "Where the hell were you?" well then he's probably legit.

  5. I can't beleive they let you keep all that. That would be so cool to have. I've had some MRIs done back when I had knee surgery. The darn Dr. barely let me look over his shoulder in the office let alone go home with a disk. Awesome!
  6. Greg, check your PM. I would like to buy this Garrard. Would go nicely next to my ELAC in the "doesn't sound that good but sure looks retro cool" category.

I can see all the way down to just above your knees.

I was just browsing eBay...there appears to be several different flavors of mods you can perform (that's my assumption based on the photos I'm seeing). I'm not so sure I would just go and purchase one of these through eBay, unless I knew a trusted forum member did the work. Someone else could modify and ruin the sound right? Since it is not a new piece of equipment I'm at the mercy of the modifier, as I would have no idea what to do. ---------------- Just look for a stock ST70 on Ebay. No mods. Should be several of them at any one time. Like Craig said, a good condition stock ST70 should be around $300. Then ship it to Craig and let him modify it, you can trust him. There's a lot of hacks out there I'm sure. Anyway, there's enough people here at the Klipsch site that have used him and can verify that he'll do a great job.

Michael, is that still your assistant in your avatar? I need a bigger monitor, she never looks the same?
  10. Chalk me up in the load of crap column. At least until I start manufacturing and marketing high end audio cables.

Using analog CD outputs from my RDV1060 or does it make more sense to get an integrated tube amp to give me a cleaner path, so I can hook up a tunrtable too? I am willing to spend around $1500 net. Are the Rogue amps any good. I have seen good reviews, but haven't really heard anyone using them. There are some on audiogon. The stats look pretty good and they are fairly new. ---------------- This is just one dudes opinion, but I was not hugely impressed with my Rogue gear. Hard to say exactly why but all I can say is, I sold it after a year or so and was not all that sad to see it go. I had a Rogue 66 preamp and a an 88 amp. After not being thrilled, I sent it in for the Magnum upgrades. Except for the new cool blue lights, I was still not "wowed". Maybe I was expecting too much. I've been more impressed with my restored vintage gear including my Dynaco ST70 recently upgraded by NOS Valves who I found here on the Klipsch borads. I've also got some Mac and Marantz tube gear that I liked as much or better than the Rogue stuff.
  12. Paul, your decor has come a long way since early 80's! Thanks for the old pics.

I also got wind of a pair of Krell amps, model # unknown, that another dealer in Boise had taken in on trade from the wife of a doctor that had passed away. He said he was willing to let them go dirt cheap, since they aren't a brand he carries, and would call me back in a day or two with the details, hey are currently stored in an offsite warehouse. Even though I wasn't thinking of buying the La Scalas, it would work out sweet if a little footwork landed me a sweet deal on some Krells! If they're out of my league, I'll at least pass on the info to those here that may be interested. 40% off of on a new Ferrari F430 is a hell of a deal, but that still makes it a $120,000 car. His idea of "dirt cheap" may not be the same as mine. ---------------- Ctbb, So were Krells "dirt cheap"? What did you find out?
  14. Thebes, Bummer on the tonearm wires. Those wires are way to tiny for my big fingers too. Soldering and working with those damn things in a *****. As for letting the record spin at the end... Always bugs me so I have tried several tonearm lifts. They are a little tweaky to get them set up but I've used this nicely overpriced "lifter" for several years now and it works well. http://www.expressimoaudio.com/lift/lift.html I also have a tracking force gage. Just the old $15.00 Shure cantilever model. Works ok for me.
  15. ---------------- Actually I think the royalities are also only a few cents - the rest? Profit for the music industry (AKA Sony et al.) ---------------- The rest is not profit. How about, packaging, recording costs, promotional costs, shipping? Royalties are very complicated but much more than a few cents. Kind of interesting article link below, I hope I have more time to read it later. http://stuffo.howstuffworks.com/music-royalties3.htm

  17. That guy is so funny. Check the email correspondence below. Most people might have offered some information on HOW to buy them. But if you read my email, you'll see I didn't ask that! It's one hell of a little preamp though. Go to the actual auction site, click "Ask Seller A Question" and ask him if he is sending the Second chance offer on the Cornwalls. My bet is he tells you no. Seems the Second Chance offer scammers are going after Mac and Klipsch a lot these days.
  19. Doesn't anybody read posts these days? I just offered a 70 Watt Yammy with barely any use in your price range. Then again, I know nothing about the Yammy's so maybe an early 90's receiver isn't considered a true Yammy. I always liked it though. I used to crank a lot Primus on that thing. My Name is Mud.
  20. Based on the latest Ebay sales I'll sell you a mint Mac MC240 for $4000.00 No, I guess I'm keeping that one. I do have this Yamaha RX 570 receiver that has been stored in it's original box for about 8 years now. It was in perfect condition when I put her away. 70 Watts X 2. I bought it 1993 new. I remember loving it with some PSBs that I had back then. If you're interested, let me know. Audiogon Bluebook says it's worth $120.00 for whatever that's worth.
  21. Thanks for the bigger photo. You are a great guy!
