  1. Timmikid, I finished a couple of rebuilds and they are being auditioned now with some good results. Getting the next pair ready for getting a complete, no holds barred rebuild to use as a comparison...[] Dave, I looked at the buyers feedback and he also just picked up a C22.. looks like he is putting together a nice Mac system...[]
  2. He is an exceptional photographer!! If you look closely at the amps, you can make out scratches and other minor nicks and dings. The bidders list shows that most of the real heavy bidders are from the Orient. I'm wondering if the overseas bidders have him on their 'Favorite Seller's' list due to the really nice McIntosh pieces he's listed in the past? Timmikid, can I talk you into sending back the pair you have... []?
  3. Craig, Would you be interested in getting an MC30 with permission to install whatever mods you would like to try? We could then forward it to Audible for a side by side comparison with the ones he has....
  4. I was wandering through the MC30 auctions this morning and came across this auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/McIntosh-MC30-MC-30-MONO-PAIR-EXCELLENT_W0QQitemZ5879280492QQcategoryZ3284QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem The amps looked a bit familiar and it struck me that I had just unboxed these very amps and put them on my bench yesterday. I had won them in this auction : http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5871474406&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&rd=1 It's amazing to see what some people will try...!
  5. Your wife is right, six amps is too many to have laying around... to keep her happy, you might think about getting rid of those silly little MC-30s... []
  6. I believe one of the Dynaco websites (link escapes me at the moment) has what they call Dynaclone trannies that are supposed to be exact replacements for the originals. Craig from NOSValves I think mentioned at one time that he could provide suitable replacements as well. The Dynaco sites also have lots of info/parts for building or re-building most of the Dynaco amps. I'm hoping to tackle one or two as a 'winter' project next year.... []
  7. Ron Cornelius, McIntosh Product Manager & Field Training Manager
  8. Mark Kauffman, Klipsch Senior Product Specialist, Loudspeakers
  9. I had originally posted these over at the 2 Channel, but thought they fit better here... My girlfriend Myrl and I got to meet some great people at CES 2006.. [] Dr. Bruce Edgar
  10. Ok... I've upped my meds and feel much better now... [] I should have posted in the General Forum vice the 2-Channel, as they are just general pictures. I'll repost them in the General Forum this evening.
  11. How would lining the sidewalls with bookcases & books effect the absortion/reflections in a room?
  12. I think it was quite a complement when he said, "But then again why do people upgrade old Klipshorns with a new fancy ALK xover?" I certainly am enjoying my new "fancy" xover...[]
  13. If one were to build a LS bass bin from scratch, what changes would be recommended to reduce the reflections? It would seem that 'rounding' out the corners would be a start. Would changing the size of the deflector help as well?
  14. A little straightening with a ballpeen hammer, a little woodputty and a couple of drywall screws and that speaker will be almost, maybe as good as new...
  15. It probably wouldn't be too much of a surprise if I mentioned that I would be interested in them if they didn't work out for you...[] As others have suggested, you might find that trying some other tubes may help... I find that I like the tele 12AX7, Bugle Boy 12AU7, Black Plate RCA 12BH7 and GEC KT66 combination.
  16. Just checked my paperwork and Fini is correct, it was Roger that I was thinking of! I've only had the one experience with him, but he was very good to deal with and seemed to do a thorough job on my 6000A. I plan on sending him another one to calibrate shortly!
  17. I recently had a Hickock 6000A serviced by a gentleman in Los Angeles. He seemed to do a thorough job and his work appeared to be of good quality. He provided a checklists that he followed in it's repair and calibration along with the test results. I'll find the paperwork this evening and post his contact information.
  18. Terry, I gave it a good shot! I knew they would go high, but was hoping that the seller would stick with a 'US Only' auction, which he didn't. The winner seems to be buying up a lot of McIntosh gear lately..! Just got my fourth MC40 and will be putting together a good pair and getting them to you for a check-up and upgrades shortly. Did Tom's pair of 40s find a good home?? Frzinvt, congratulations on those nice looking 30s!! I pondered too long on getting them! Born2RockU said you committed to them less than an hour after I asked about them. I'm glad they are going to a good home..[]
  19. Before I pursue a project that I'm working on much further, I was curious to see how much interest there might be in newly manufactured MC30 chassis and/or bottom covers? If interested, what would the preferred metal be: stainless or chromed steel?
