  1. Sorry I am sure maxg listened to it on vinyl should not interchanged the two. Will admit I have not listed to a good TT set in years. I would think it will sound awesome on a LP as well
  2. So do I (sorry for butting in) but is that uncool?
  3. Its an Album from Roger Waters from Pink Floyd fame. It was release in 1992 by Columbia. PF was composed orginally of Waters, Rick Wright (keyboards), Nick Mason (Drummer) and David Gilmour (who was replaced early on by Syd Barret, the inpiration for DSOM) Radio KAOS is also very good. They are both worth a listen (IMO).
  4. I have been finding myself just listen to music more and more, especially CDs I had before I upgraded. Look at my profile for equipment, (pics posted of the room hi HT) but before you discount me, you have to try, if you have not already track 8 on AMUSED TO DEATH (rest of the album is great imo). The crack of the axe on the wood is almost dead center and the horse (equipped with bells on their leather harnesses) drawn sled approaches from the left and passes through the sound stage off to the right. The Ferrari 246GT passing right to left is not quite as impressive later in the track, but holy S its cool. Saw a post from maxg that mentioned that CD and it inspired me to give it a listen. I had a re-adjust the toe in a bit, but now its sweet. Much wider presentation in stereo (Denon terms "pure direct") than any multi channel effect can produce. I really like PF and Roger Waters. Goose Bumps.
  5. The lights have to be off no doubt and the remote in my left hand to control the volume, sitting in the sweet spot with my eyes closed and hopefully with a big grin a goose bumps.
  6. Colin / Olorin Thank you for the white paper. Much appreciated.
  7. Sorry for $2499 they should include cables and an attractive sales lady. My mistake. When did they introduce this? Assume recently since BB got it, seems very expensive, always wonder for companys that jump in to a new area that they don't outsource and if so, who actually made and what other companies already market it?
  8. The Office is great, never seen Father Ted, but will now definitely look it up. Used to manage people before jumping to IT, so who interaction was brilliant would just cringe at the thought. Did you see the commercial for the American /NBC version? Looks lame but I actually kind of like the lead actor, same guy as the weather man in Anchorman. For a $1000 they better include cables.
  9. When I first saw it I thought it was their new top of the line power conditioner. Ken are you sure its not? For a $1000 bucks, I bet it conditions lines better than anything else on the market; perhaps its a combo amp and power conditioner. If its truly an amp it should come hard-wired with their cables.
  10. "Well, I took them back and got a set of Heresys. Problem with this set was that 3 of the screws on one woofer were stripped and two on the other were stripped. You couldn't tighten them and they just fell out. I ended up dealing directly with the factory who agreed to supply me with a brand new set of KLF-20s, custom built for me." I can understand why you would be frustrated, would be too. Would agree the country of origin should have nothing to do with it. My experience was different in that the RF7s, RC7, RS7, RSW15 all arrived in great condition. I thought they sounded great the first day, such a difference from the Boston Acoustic T-830s /HD-8s multi channel set up I was used to (truth be told I hung on to them way to long). But after break in they are even better and no quality problems as of yet. I have had similar quality issues in other equipment, but for custom speakers I might consider.. just kidding. What did they build for you please provide details. I had a Motorola cell phone that never worked, but they never built me a custom one, but of course it cost 1/60th of the estimated cost of your purchase. Would love to know what they built for you. For the moderators Can we order custom speakers from the parts bin built in the factory in a cabinet of our choosing?
  11. 'Derek and the Dominos Live At The Filmore' I brought this a while ago and pulled it out for a listen. I completely forgot what an amazing performance the two CDs capture. Its from a concert recorded back in Oct 1970 from two shows. If you a Clapton fan or just into blues/rock I would highly recommend it. His guitar was so much more raw and unpredictable than it is today, its like a completely different person. When you listen to the concert its hard to believe that there are only 4 guys on stage and he is the only one playing guitar. The recoding has been digitally mastered in 1993, the sound stage is great, but the dynamic are of a 70s recording as opposed to say One More Car One More Rider. Would highly recomend it. The 18 minute version of 'Let it Rain' is incredible.
  12. Thebes Very well done, have you ever read 'The Magus' by Fowles?
  13. Yes, but lets hope you and youre the future Mrs. Ratboy dont have braces and dont substitute a neurotic show dog for kids.
  14. Now that you say cognac, I am sure that was I was told, never acquired the taste myself, so just did not remember correctly. Thank you. In regards to your experience on stage with that company in audience can't even comprehend, awesome.
  15. Is it true that his coffee cup is full of whiskey when you see him play live? The only time I did see him live (@ the Tower in Philly) he was drinking from a coffee cup. Just wondered if you knew. Heard it from a friend who worked up in the Jazz/Blues festival in RI.
  16. Ken You have a good system for someone in college and it sounds like you made smart purchases it terms of relative costs/quality, as you said once you graduate things will change and you can get the equipment of your dreams. You will land a high paying job, meet the girl of your dreams, who will spend your paycheck and make you feel like your back in college financially. Thats ok cause the job is going to take up most of your free time anyway. Then there is always: College loans? Kids? Mortgage payments? Taxes? How do you make God laugh? Tell him your plans.
  17. No doubt Calvin Harding Jr. being the man of integrity he certainly is, right now has a few complimentary and probably by now dusty sets of these speakers sitting in his garage. Perhaps Calvin Harding Sr., hearing impaired of course is enjoying his sons Christmas gift, of this fine set of speakers. Calvin is the kind of guy that reviews films like Catwomen or Surviving Christmas and calls it the feel good movie of the year just to see his name in print.
  18. You clearly know nothing about audio, you can't set that crossover that low and get respectable sound. I say its time to get some real equipement, like what I am running and then perhaps someday you will understand.
  19. Yesterday the damn lamp would not turn on at all, the DLP would cycle, but no lamp, Tried 4 times and waited 5 minutes between attempts and no dice. Since its still under warranty I called yesterday to get service arranged, for this Friday. Tried it tonight and bingo its on. Will let you know what they say. Know I am hoping the does not work.
  20. Dee Agree its a great CD, love Buddy Guy and that album. If you want a really good Buddy Guy tune 'Don't Know Which Way To Go'(about 12 minutes long) w/ Clapton also on guitar from the 'Rush' movie sound track if you don't already have it. Its really the only really good track on it but its worth it or see if you can download it if your into that. Don't think you will be disappointed. Also try 'As Good As It Gets'.
  21. Thanks for the posting; its a good read. I have enjoyed Widescreen Review in the past; they enabled the reader to learn quite a bit about the then up and coming new sound formats of DD and DTS. They had a lot of doubt about the intro to the DVD when the laser disk was still in existence, believe their general take was use a laser disc size disc for straight discrete digital sound w/ picture as opposed to the compression introduced by the above formats on DVD. Sorry more on topic, they always really like/ed Mirage and it seems almost the opposite approach to Klipsch in many aspects. They were always used in many of their reference systems and always spoke highly of them. Had to laugh when interviewer brought them up. They must have had some type of deal with them.
  22. The one I got is multi channel DTS. But there are SACD and standard 20bit available, you choose when you order. Check it out http://www.telarc.com/gscripts/title.asp?sku=CD%2D83395%2DDTS&mscssid=2XRUN1GFU7DA8GENHPWT1670AX5R0K65
  23. Cheese and crackers that could get some serious volume. I am rather uneducated to the science of sound but would think you would loose some sound stage location with six across. Have you those w/ tried surround sound? Any way envious of that equipment, wow. Looks like a live environment, more pictures please.
  24. Kevin97225 Is that for real? Perhaps I am gullible but MY G!!

    The Village

The Village was good that it was different. The sound was great, really encompassing and deep bass and gave a sense of being there. (scare the s out of my wife) Like most M Knight movies, I will not watch many times over. though cool idea. Hitchcock is in a different league as of right now. My personal favorites are Vertigo, Rear Window or North by Northwest. IMO Sixth Sense was the best and the closest comparison. That said I hope M. Knight or others get there or best those films.
