  1. I agree, you can't begin to compare the RF-7's to the HeresyII's. If you are looking for bass and a large sound stage then your only choice will be the 7's. The Heresy's just can't compete.
  2. I don't know if anyone has noticed this or not. But, when I first hooked up my RF-7's the bass seemed muffled. I looked in the port holes at the back of the speakers and I noticed that the acoustic foam at the bottom of the speaker had come loose and was blocking the port holes. I pushed it back along the bottom to the front and up the front side of the speakers and the difference in bass was huge.

My only criticism of the 35's is that I wish they had a tad more extension....plenty of mid/treble energy..just lacking in the most upper tweeter range...to me. ---------------- I have both the 35's and the 7's. I feel exactly like you, I think that the 35's are a great speaker but seem to be held back a little in the top freq's. However, the 7's are not held back at all and combining them with the RC-7 will give you the best HT sound. The 7's will accurately play back all recorded music and are definitely worth the extra cost. If you haven't already listened to the 7's, you are missing out on one of the best sounding speakers ever.
  4. Wow!!! That's a lot for Forte 2's. I'm trying to sell mine for $600 plus shipping.
  5. I have just upgraded to the RF-7's and RC-7. What a difference in sound. I listened to the RF-35, 5 & 7 before I decided. I thought that the difference between RF-35 and RF-5 was minimal compared to the difference between the RF-5 and RF-7. So if I were you, I would buy the RC-7 now and wait until you can afford the RF-7.

Now speaking from experience I can say you don't need to audition them. Just go and get them. They are worth every penney. ---------------- I second this. I have the RF-35's and they are a great sounding speaker. But, my RF-7's are just better plain and simple. You will notice a huge improvement with the RF-7's and RC-7 over what you have now. You did not state your Amp / Pre-Amp / Receiver. This is important since the RF-7's does need a powerful SS amp to get the most out of them.
  7. I like 2 mags. 1) The Inner Ear Report (a Canadian Mag) 2) HIFI Plus (British Mag)
  8. If you can afford it, go for the Reference line. They sound much better.
  9. If you read the instruction manual it will tell you the ideal placement or the sub. Of course your room dynamics will be different from others. But, usually placing a sub in a corner or along the same wall as the front speakers will provide the best sound. Putting the sub in a wall will create a box sound that will take away from it's performance and as stated earlier the rear firing driver will be greatly affected.
  10. I would say the RF-35's are vastly superior to the Heresy's. I own the Forte 2's which are considered an upgrade from the Heresy's and I prefer the RF-35's over the Forte's. Now I listen to Rock, Pop and Alternative music which sounds better on the 35's. Overall, I say that the RF-35's have better low end punch and are more forgiving of bad recordings.
  11. The Forte 2's are a matching pair in Oak. SN: 110499094 & 110499095
  12. I am asking $600 or best offer for my Forte 2's purchased in 1994. The speakers are in excellent shape (9.5 / 10). I have pictures available to anyone interested, please email me ( gverdes@rogers.com ). I do not have the original boxes for shipping which maybe a problem. Since I have upgraded to the RF-7's, I no longer use the Forte's.
  13. Mike, I agree with you. I find that the RF-35's have a great low freq. extension and the high's seemed to be held back a bit. However, don't get me wrong. They sound amazing, especial for their price range.
  14. You didn't mention what you will use as the front pair of speakers. However, I just upgraded to the RC-7 center and it made a world of difference. The voices are much crisper and cleaner making the dialog easier to understand. The RC-7 is a fantastic speaker and well worth the cost.
  15. Ok, I will drop the price down to $200.00 plus shipping.
  16. Chris, nice speakers. One more thing to take into account regarding the RF-35's and the Forte's is the fact that the RF-35's are a 2 way design while the Forte's are a 3 way design. You really need to listen to both speakers using your own CD's, LP's to hear which speaker sounds better to you. In the end that is what really matters (what sounds best to you). If you can afford it, go a step up and look at used Khorns or RF-7's. The difference between these 2 speakers and the RF-35 and Forte's is huge.
  17. I own both speakers and I can honestly say that I like the RF-35's better then the Forte 2's. The RF-35's have more detail in the bass region and are more forgiving of bad recordings. The Forte 2's are a brighter speaker that reveals any recording imperfections. I listen to Alternative and Rock music, which tends to have more bass information.
  18. I can't believe what I'm reading either. Make room for these great speakers. I just purchased mine (not even broken in) and they sound fantastic. I can't wait until I get to the 200 hrs mark of listening, then I'll hear what these babies can really do. I will also get DeanG's crossover upgrades at some point.
  19. I am selling my KSP-C6 center channel, purchased in early 2001. Now that I have upgraded to a RC-7 I don't this center channel anymore. I am asking $250.00 for the speaker, shipping extra. I have the original box and manual for the speaker. The speaker is in excellent condition, pictures available to anyone interested. Please email at gverdes@rogers.com and I will send the pictures.
  20. I will certainly keep you in mind then. I'm looking to purchase the RF-7's in March. If you want you can send me an email gverdes@rogers.com and I will let you know when I will be selling the Forte 2's. There in excellent shape with Oak veneer (I can include picture in the email). I think a fair price will be $650US plus shipping.
  21. I have a product guide for the Reference series from 2001 and I noticed that the quote weights of the RF-5 and RF-7 have decreased. RF-5 weight 62 pounds in 2001 and now they are 60 pounds. RF-7 weight 94 pounds in 2001 and now they are 90 pounds. Does anyone have any ideas why the speakers are lighter now? Did Klipsch change the drivers or case in anyway?
  22. I would say hold out for the Forte's. It's too bad that you live in Texas, I am thinking of up grading my 94 Forte 2's with a pair of RF-7's. Once I do I will be selling my Forte's. Since, I don't have the original boxes for the Forte's and I would prefer that the buyer be able to drive to Toronto to pick them up. I would hate to see them damaged in shipping.
  23. I echo the previous response. The RF-35's are a great sounding speaker and an excellent value in their price range. I think the additional cost is definitely worth it. You will be happy if you do.
  24. I have the Act3 paired with the Acurus A250 & 200x3 amps. I have Klipsch Forte2's and RF-35 floor standing speakers and a KSP-C6 center. The RF-35 sound better with the Acurus stuff. The Forte's tend to be a little too bright and reveal any flaws in the source audio. This is why I'm thinking of selling my Forte2's and buying the RF-7's as my fronts and putting the RF-35 in the back. Also, I will buy the RC-7 for the center. In terms of TH, I really like the sound of the Acurus Act3 and amp combo. Lots of bass (I don't even use my sub anymore), great channel separation and very dynamic sound.
  25. I have my Forte II's at 22 inches from the back wall and toed in towards the listener. This may affect the base level slightly. I think it gives me a less boomy but more crisp base response. Like you, I really like the sound of the Forte II's and would love to hear a set of khorns.
