  5. whatever you need.. the one I have is 20 to 20. 20 to 200 will work - may be better due to lack of bleeding ears but it is your choice. With the 20 to 20, you can hear how well the sub blends with the sats etc.

  7. Get a frequency sweep.. form 20Hz to 20kHz and play the lower part of it <20kHz just hurts.. just me> You will probably notice times when teh bass gets really loud.. and other when it is a lot lower. This is what Distec was talking about. My dorm room had a nice resonance frequency at around 70Hz.. the walls vibrated to the point I could hear the pipes in the bathroom shake. Every room will have a resonate frequency where it will love it and give you a lot. crystal glass + resonate frequency = shattered glass Tacoma Narrows Bridge + resonate = broken bridge Your Room + resonate = priceless
  8. Wish I could get on my brother's VanderSteens and see how they sound lacking a seperate sub I'm pretty sure he would kill me tho since I like to experience music = quite loud at times. This message has been edited by Paragon on 06-11-2001 at 09:23 PM
  9. You are actually limiting the excursion of the drivers doing so. Of course it stops the noise cause air cannot go thru the port to make the noise. 2 6.5" drivers will push a lot of air and that air has to go thru the port.. hence the noise. If you play some deep base.. watch the drivers move in an out.. and then put you hand over the port, you will notice that the driver does not move as much from it having to compress the air. This is the main reason why sealed sub boxes will require more power in order to match a ported box - the sealed driver has to compress air while the ported drive only has to move air. fresca, you will probably get better bass without blocking the port and allow the driver to do its job. I have no problem with port noise, I just keep the sub level to the mark and dont mess with any EQ settings in winamp or windoze. I am not a bass freak.. I just like clean bass.
  10. The v.2-400 would be good for a spare TV or radio aside from your HTS.. a shame to disect them
  11. "Everybody was Kung Fu Fighting.. " hehe.. cute.
  12. I guess it does improve the sound from what I have read. Klipsch is working on some possible upgrade cables last word I heard. ------------------ 1GHz TBird Abit KT7A-RAID Kingmax 256MB PC150 256MB PC133 Infinion Annihilator2 32MB GT§ Intel Pro100+Management NIC Promise Ultra100 IBM 75GXP 45GB ATA100 Maxtor DMP6800 27.2GB ATA66 Plextor 16X10X40A §ony 12X DVD §BLive! 5.1 AOpen HX08 Full Tower 300W §ony CPD-G400 19" Triny ProMedia 4.1

  14. Yes.. it will work Justin.. you will just need to see what kind of connector the Pros will have If they are together.. you might not need an adapter.. if they are seperate then you will need an adapter to split the center/sub output of the sound card into its spereate channels so you end up with 2 seperate connecters Get in touch with me if you need more info. Paradigm: anyone who reads the board knows you are for the actual HTS instead of Pros. YES... HTS is much better if you get good equip but will cost much more. Also.. a lot of the times.. Pros are just more practical Also.. The Pros are real speakers - I can certainly touch them and they do make noise. Surly.. I don't know anyone who wouldn't want a true HTS - I would love to have my Bro's system.. but I cant imagine spending around 10k on one at this point in time. Can you imagine whole bookshelf speakers next to my monitor? LOL.. sheesh.. I hardly have room to move in my room. 16. let me wipe the drool up. ya.. 2 8s would be nice.. I'm pleased with 4.1 - in a 12x12 room.. dual 6 is fine. I hardly have room wnough for the 4.1 - would have no room for the 5.1 ------------------ 1GHz TBird Abit KT7A-RAID Kingmax 256MB PC150 Annihilator2 32MB GT§ Intel Pro100+Management NIC Promise Ultra100 IBM 75GXP 45GB ATA100 Maxtor DMP6800 27.2GB ATA66 Plextor 16X10X40A §ony 12X DVD §BLive! 5.1 AOpen HX08 Full Tower 300W §ony CPD-G400 19" Triny ProMedia 4.1
  17. Seems like it will be nice but I'd have to stick with my 4.1 - no need for 5.1 here.
  18. I would just take one of the covers to the hardware store. You could probably have them color match it.. but be careful they don't scratch it. ------------------ 1GHz TBird Abit KT7A-RAID Kingmax 256MB PC150 Annihilator2 32MB GT§ Intel Pro100+Management NIC Promise Ultra100 IBM 75GXP 45GB ATA100 Maxtor DMP6800 27.2GB ATA66 Plextor 16X10X40A §ony 12X DVD §BLive! 5.1 AOpen HX08 Full Tower 300W §ony CPD-G400 19" Triny ProMedia 4.1
  19. The new ones are Pros.. You can hook the Pros up to just about anything - all you need is a few cable adapters and you can hook it up to your HTS //Oh.. the reason they took t off was because tehy did not want the word out.. you weern't supposed to leak the info. beta testers are not supposed to leak the stuff they see. ------------------ 1GHz TBird Abit KT7A-RAID Kingmax 256MB PC150 Annihilator2 32MB GT§ Intel Pro100+Management NIC Promise Ultra100 IBM 75GXP 45GB ATA100 Maxtor DMP6800 27.2GB ATA66 Plextor 16X10X40A §ony 12X DVD §BLive! 5.1 AOpen HX08 Full Tower 300W §ony CPD-G400 19" Triny ProMedia 4.1 This message has been edited by Paragon on 05-11-2001 at 03:45 PM

  21. The question is is the extra cost really worth it? I don't know about you.. but I do not need a center channel for my computer system. It is only used when you watch DVDs.. which I hardly do. Even then.. downmixing is good enough. If I want awesome DVD experince.. I'd watch it on my bro's HTS I'm pleased with my 4.1 system.. I can't complain. ------------------ 1GHz TBird Abit KT7A-RAID Kingmax 256MB PC150 Annihilator2 32MB GT§ Intel Pro100+Management NIC Promise Ultra100 IBM 75GXP 45GB ATA100 Maxtor DMP6800 27.2GB ATA66 Plextor 16X10X40A §ony 12X DVD §BLive! 5.1 AOpen HX08 Full Tower 300W §ony CPD-G400 19" Triny ProMedia 4.1
  22. Sub placement depends on many things.. floor type, furniture, walls.. I recently took the carpet out of the dorm ] and moved the sub from behind the desk in the corner to in the open by my side.. and it still sounds good.. it lacks some of the resonance of the corner/desk so I think it sounds a tad cleaner at times.. the corner/desk does still resonate but not as bad as having he sub right behind the desk. You don't really need to have the sub elevated.. since the LF waves are nondirectional. The best thing to do is just test different spots with multiple pieces of music.
  23. Exams.. got to love em.. I notices too.. Hofy hasn't been around much either lets see.. world peace is not just a dream anymore, the rain forests are not being cut down, politics is no longer corrupt.. other than that.. not much.
  24. At min.. the rears are a little weaker than fronts. At halfway.. they are almost the same.. with the rears a litle louder. At max.. you can tell the rears are louder..
