  2. Well guys, I finally took vacation this past week and drove up to Mass and got these CW's from Chris Robinson who kindly picked them up and held them for me! Chris Thank you so much, You have a wonderful home. Now the decision as to finishing these? do a nice linseed oil or perhaps sand and stain them? any suggestions folks?? John
  3. Nice looking CW's Chris! For those of you that remember I bought those CW Vertical Decorators off ebay sometime back. I had Chris Robinson pick them up for me and hold them till I could drive my butt up to Mass and get them. Well I finally took vacation and drove up and got them this past week. Very nice set! A couple small chips in the edges and one water ring on the top, Otherwise in almost perfect condition. I'll be moving this weekend and next into my new home so after that I will see about sanding and staining these. PS Thanks again Chris!
  4. However inappropiate or appropiate this thread is to the 2 channel forum the thread is here and so far still active! I have not yet read or followed Kerry's candidacy rhetoric yet. Matters much closer to home and my wallet have kept my attention elsewhere, But I'd have to have lived in a closet for the past 4 years to not have followed Bush's career of presidency. Although Im still not sure whether or not the invasion of Irac was truly about "WMAS" or a more personal agenda of Bush Jr. I do believe that the people of Irac are better off with our intervention. The other side of this coin parallels the thoughts that seems to have risen from the post of this thread, someone pissin in someone elses playground! Voices have been raised here about this very thread and its existance in a "audio" forum. Voices are raised about the USA's interference in middle eastern affairs! At what point would it be prudent for the USA to back down or out of middle eastern policy? Each time we step in as the world wide referee we always end up on the short end of the stick and lately the stick has been sticking out of the body's of our servicemen. Do I hav an answer? no but its one of those things that make me go Hmmm.

Loved the part when the tower went out and regular folks started seeing the aliens, especially the bedroom scene. Its time to chew bubble gum or kick *&^, To bad Im all out of bubble gum!
  6. Holy smoke, those are some gorgous speakers! Hmmm, guess Im gonna be buying some roswood veneer and doing a bit of practicing. hehe Man I love living in Florida! its been in the low 80's and Sunny the last few days! Beach weather.
  7. So while were asking "Tube Noob" questions conserning amps!! Currently my cornwalls are connected directly to my HK430 receiver, The receiver has a pinch type connectors, The speakers would use a spade end, But I imagine the amps would have the RCA connectors. So how will I connect the amps to the speakers? Do I have to crimp my own RCA connectors on one end and spade on the other??

Not a diehard, Im a Sci-Fi fan in general. Now don't go asking which Dr. I liked best! Thats like asking which Star Trek show is best!
  9. heh, likes drums huh. Pick up a copy of Kodo drums. He ought to like that. Yea my newphew is pretty cool. Being the favorate uncle has its advantages! He decided to take Karate and received his black belt last year after watching me get mine. I've got him reading some classic Sci-Fi and he's taken an interest in old cars as well. my music and stereo system is next.
  10. You know, those speakers kinda remind me of an old robot on the Dr. Who Tv series.

But thier heirs are oh so happy. ---------------- Funny you say that, Since im newly divorced I had to change my 401K benefits and redo my will. I left everything to my newphew. I had to call my brother up and get my newphews SS number and such. My newphew is only 11 but Im the "favorate" uncle, and when he overheard his dad and I chatting he asked what was up so my brother explained to him what a will was and 401K and told him he would get all my stuff, my newphew broke down in tears and said he didn't want my stuff he didn't want me to die! Nice to know someone likes me for me not my possessions.

  13. ---------------- The Arcus is a smaller version of the Eidelon and retailed for $7695. Check the reviews on the web and you will find that the Arcus is a bargain at almost $8K and competes with anything at twice the price. This ain't no Bose or Klipsch crap. These are high end speakers ---------------- Its always good to know that there are those people that have more money than brains!

An interested party from here should contact the seller ASAP, and maybe cut a deal. Hurry!! ---------------- The current high bidder is the same jack that ran up my Cornwall vertical price! If your going to bid on these wait and use a sniper service. The current bidder is a wannabe.
  15. Dont know about the RF's but the HK430 is quite a match for my Cornwalls.
  16. Well, the DIY kits are a bit expensive, but not difficult to do. I helped a buddy chrome plate a number of small parts for his old triumph bike. After that I decided to do a bunch of small stuff on my Datsun Z that im restoring. The size plate your talking about would not be to big.
  17. You can always check out caswellplating.com, They have cool DIY triple chrome plating kit. Im working on a bench setup for mine. I've got a ton of things to plate.

  19. I agree, I got my HK 430 just about a week or so ago, Very sweet. I get a bit of crackle till it warms up but then everything works fine. Now I can't wait till my Scott LK 72 gets here.

I bet we hear on the news in the next day or two that there is a shortage on boiled linseed oil nationwide. Every Klipsch owner in the country is going to be cleaning off shelves at every builder supply. You have got to be absolutely thrilled. Good for you. ---------------- Ok, So thats what they look like after a little TLC. Now, Where do you normally buy linseed oil?? I've got a pair of Corns to do now, and another set to do in April.
  21. ---------------- If more people don't post some dog pictures pretty soon, I'm going to start posting some cat pictures. ---------------- Oh, lets not get started on posting cat pictures, My Ex-wife used to breed and show Persians, I got more dang cat pictures then you'd ever want to see. Sorry no dogs in my house! just two persian cats, one Green wing Macaw, One goffin Cockatoo and two 125 gallon saltwater reefs.
  22. A Scott 222, 222B, 222C. So whats the difference? Which is better? and why?? A newbe wants to know!

  24. I have a 86 300zx turbo which might be the car in use. One speaker should fit in the back and the other should fit after removing the passenger seat. A couple of blankets and pillows and I should be set. If that won't work then I'll steal the ex-wifes Chevy tracker. The HK 430 came while I was out. When I got home I had to go back out and get some speaker wire, so they weren't running till almost midnight the other day. I've been so busy I've only listened to one CD. Moody Blues at Red Rock. I was quite impressed with the sound. I think it will improve even more after I procure a Amp or two. Of course the acustics in my living room suck big time. I really have no knowledge with tube amps so Im quite hesitant on bidding or buying an older amp / preamp system. I am looking to you guys to guide me to a good system.
