Sony marketing is top notch! No, you don't have to buy a Blu-Ray thing and a seperate SACD player. Its funny that many people scoff at the idea of the PS3 as a seperate entity from Blu-Ray players when it happens to be the best, and future proof at the moment. Yes, the PS3 plays sacd's, no other blu-ray player does. Yes, Sony's PS3 will be Profile 2 compliant; current and other machines on the market will not be; they require firmware upgrades. Though many shopper perceive the PS3 to be a gaming device, it is not. It is a central media hub that Sony crafted and gambled with, and only now are slowly seeing the fruits of thier highly risky labors. Turning your nose up at this option, which is the cheapest, is hurting yourself and your wallet.

IMO, the best deal out of the HD-DVD fiasco is the 50 USD Microsoft 360 HD-DVD addon. With instant PC compatibility to read, software to rip and hard drive and server costs at extremly low and configurable prices these days, setting up your very own HD media server is almost a no brainer.

The 75's are a FANTASTIC deal! There are some great prices circulating with people selling and upgrading etc. I had the 75's for about a years and had to sell them to free up some cash. However in the time that I had them, the 75's unlseashed massive amounts of detail in recordings I had not expected. When I first played newer music through them to some of my buddies they swore the bookshelves were broken since the sound didn't seem right. Little did they realize it was the music that was broken. [] Maybe one day I'll reown them, or save up for Palladium.

Maybe localized EQ is being appplied when using Real software? I havent' used the software in years. I dumped that garbage after disconvering Winamp... then AOL helped destroy a wonderful product and dev team.

The Denon 1708 does not come with audio switching via HDMI, only video. In order to receive audio switching you need to step up to the 1908. Not sure about the Onkyo products.
