Keith Moon used to wear a shirt like this but it had nothing to do with Sgt. Friday... ahhhh the 70's.

I always liked Joe Friday's badge from Dragnet If Jack Webb only knew what 714 would eventually come to mean...
  3. Which should I chose on a dvd audio menu that offers both? And why? - Jim
  4. I would definitely recommend checking out Oliver Nelson. I was lucky enough to spend two summers in high school (74 & 75) working at a jazz radio station in suburban <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Chicago. I started out mowing the lawn and painting the fences around the transmitter and tower but eventually made it inside the building and got to spend months transferring the stations huge jazz vinyl collection onto reel to reel. If only I realized then what a great experience I was being given. That job had a tremendous effect on broadening my teenage musical tastes. One of the first albums that I connected with was Nelsons Skull Session which I now play for my teenage sons. They are far more musically talented than I ever could hope to be and it gives me great pleasure to come home and find that they have borrowed this album (and others) and are listening on their own. Again highly recommended.
  5. How about your favorite inside album cover art... My all time favorite is from ZZ Top's Tres Hombres album. This picture doesn't do it justice Hmmm... 1973 ... a case of the munchies do to []... staring at a big double spread photo of Mexican food... yeah, that'll bring back a memory or two.
  6. Every piece of Klipsch I own (except for my Academy) I bought from Simply Stereo. Including my new Heresy III's - the first pair they received at the store. They are and have always been a knowledgeable and enthusiastic source for Klipsch. And yes, they always have a pair of K-horns to audition. They ordered their demo pair of H III's right after mine, I am surprised they don't have them in yet. No affiliation with them - just a happy customer. Jim
  7. Hmmm... Tool calling the kettle black?
  8. OK, I have a question somewhat related to this thread. I run a HDMI connector / cable from my Denon 2910 DVD player to my Panasonic RP LCD TV. One end of this cable has a barrel shaped plastic do-hicky about 2 inches before the termination of the cable. I have seen these on computer monitor cables and the power cord to my laptop. What in tarnation is it, some sort of filter? Does it matter which way the cable is oriented, meaning do-hicky end at the DVD or at the TV? And is this correct way to spell do-hickey?
  9. [ I never seem to have this issue with adult movies, so why can't others do it??? Reminds me of a joke, Guy shows up in a doctor's office complaining that his "unit" is turning orange. The doctor examines him and prescribes some medication that he is to take every day and tells him to come back in a week. The guy returns in a week and says that not only did the medication not work his "johnson" has turned even more orange. The doctor examines him again and sure enough, even more orange. Somewhat perplexed the doctor prescribes a different medication and tells him to come back again in a week. When he returns, same problem, the medication didn't work and his little buddy is even more orange. The doctor doesn't know what to make of this and decides to probe further and ask some lifestyle questions. Doc - "Are you stressed at work?" Patient - "No everything is fine" Doc - "Well, how do you spend your time when you leave work?" Patient - "Nothing special, stop at the grocery store, pick up some Cheeto's. Go to the video store, rent some porn."
  10. Generally, I am a pack rat and would keep these boxes. I do understand their value. But I have no intention of EVER selling any of my Klipsch speakers. But I am always thinking about buying more, another pair of Heresy III are probably my next purchase (more boxes!). My Chorus I's sat stored in my basement, unused for 12 years and I never gave a thought to getting rid of them. Now they are the mains in my HT and boy am I happy with them. I used to have a pair of Altec VOTT when I was in college and I kept the boxes folded flat. Those boxes came in very handy during the many moves from home to dorm to home to frat house to home etc. Even if I get hit by a bus tomorrow, my wife wouldn't sell any of the Klipsch, she loves them almost as much as I do. So given all that I have little use for the boxes and would be willing to help out any Forum member that could use them. They are still available. Jim
  11. This was my response in an earlier thread regarding my Heresy III. I have never owned a pair of any model Heresy before, although I have had some limited time listening to Heresy II in a dealer showroom years ago. Too long ago and not nearly enough time spent listening to make a comparison. That being said I do like my new speakers quite a bit. When I first got them I was able to A/B them for a couple of days with my pair of Chorus in a 2 channel set up, using my Rotel HT equipment. The first thing I noticed was the noise floor, with the Chorus and the volume set at 0 you can hear a slight hiss from the mid and tweeter. You can not hear this with the Heresy. I suppose this is the result of the Chorus being more efficient and able to audibly reproduce any noise in the system. I notice the same thing from my K-Horns but even a bit louder, but they are more efficient than the Chorus and are being driven by a Carver system that I believe to be a little noisier than the Rotel. I have a pair of K-stack networks built by Chris Munson (popbumper) that I haven't had a chance to install in the Chorus yet (sorry Chris). I am curious to see what effect they have on the hiss as well as the rest of sound. I will get to them and report when I can find the time. I find the Heresy sound to be not as big and room filling as the Chorus, which I suppose should be expected. To me the Heresy upper end is smooth and warm sounding (adjectives suitable to my untrained ears) very comfortable and definitely with that effortless Klipsch feel. The bass is smaller sounding, not as enveloping and noticeable as the Chorus. Similar to the difference between the Chorus and moving up to the bigger feel of the K-Horn. All in all I find the Heresy to a very good looking, warm and comfortable sounding, efficient speaker. I like them a lot. They probably aren't being taxed too much working as the rears in my 5.1 HT. Currently they are mounted a little above ear level along the back wall of my basement and blend very well with the rest of the system, Chorus, Academy (with K-stack which I will also eventually report on - a very easy install), Chorus, and Velodyne DD-18 sub. I suppose the best recommendation I can give is that I am actually thinking about getting another pair to replace the KG 2.5's in our kitchen. Luckily I have a music loving, Klipsch appreciating wife. I realize this isn't the most professional of reviews but it would seem to me that unless you can find a great set of 3 used Heresy II's you probably can't go wrong with the Heresy III's.

  13. Gary and I spoke yesterday. If he sells his Heresy in the next few weeks then he may want them and is welcome to them. But in the meantime if someone else that lives closer (the Chicago area) could use them they are still available for pick-up. Jim

  15. I paid $1300 for my pair of black Heresy III. This dealer usually knocks off between 12 to 15 percent from retail. Simply Stereo located in Hoffman Estates, IL. I ordered them back in late October (put $600 down on them) on the day Klipsch released their pricing. At that point I was told the wait would be about 8 weeks. It ended up being closer to 10 but I was okay with that. I received them the first week of January, the first pair in the store, before the dealer even got his own pair for demo.

  17. I realize these aren't a significant item, but sometimes people are looking for original shipping boxes. So I don't want them to go to waste if they can help somebody here. Both boxes are in good shape with all the packing materials. They are for Heresy III but I believe any model Heresy will fit in them. With or without risers. I don't think the dimensions have changed much if at all over the years. If you are anywhere near Chicago's northwestern suburbs you can come by and pick them up. Just pm me if you want them. Jim I will post this in 2 channel and HT.

  19. Of the younger guitarists Robert Randolph is incredible. But easily my all time favorite...
  20. NOT COOL It is one thing to send that file to an adult that you can joke with. But to purposely set up a young kid (and then videotape it), thats just cruel. What did the parent think his reaction would be? Jim
  21. Tom, I think most people are saying they would buy T-Shirts (my guess would be any Klipsch T-shirts). And then adding a preference - those preferences would probably help to define this thing. Few people have said that they would buy only a certain kind. In any case the subject of the thread does say "and what color" Personally I would like something like below. Jim
  22. That would be from a Skyline. Lots of horsepower, not much torque without the turbo.
  23. But isn't this engine air cooled? Which makes turbocharged Porsche most likely.
