  1. It was about 1978 I think, I was leaving a bar at Lake Tahoe, two very drunk guys came out and got into the back of their van to sleep I guess. As I waited for my friends to come out a police car drove up and the officers pulled the two guys out in a rough fashion. As they headed for the police car a very large pit bull jumped out of the van and began barking at the situation. Here comes a guy walking through the parking lot and sees all the fuss and the dog going crazy and yells sick em The dog tore into the cop escorting the dogs owner, both of the guys being arrested started fighting with the cops and these were big guys. Holy $hit. The officer fighting just the guy pulled his gun and had to put it on top of a car trunk as this guy was giving him quite a workout. By now the cop that was fighting the dog (had let the guy go) had out his club and was hitting the dog that was firmly attached to his leg. Back to the gun the cop finally gets enough control to pick up his gun and shoots at the dog that has by now chewed through both of the cops Achilles tendons and had him on the ground with his his jaws locked on the cops face shaking him violently. The dog takes off after the shot, right towards me! I watch frozen as I see him shoot again as the dog passes by me. He missed the dog and me but hit the brand new Porsche I was next to. I saw an ad in the paper and the police were seeking witnesses so I went in and gave them my account. Years later I got a letter from the dog owner asking that I testify that it was not him that sicked the dog on the cops. I agreed, but I had moved so he came to get me, as my truck was not up for a long haul. When we got to his house he just had to show me his new dog. This was by far the biggest pit bull I have ever seen, he had a car tire hanging from a tree by two garage door springs and this dog would grab that tire and pull and pull till the springs would pull it off the ground and start over again. The next day in court the cop that had gotten mauled was there he was blind in one eye and could barely walk. They had the dogs skull also, big bullet hole in it, seems the first shot was a direct hit to the head. Brave shooting a dog with youre partners face in his mouth, from 5 while fighting someone, let alone a head shot. The guy got sent away. I didnt stick around after I testified. I read about it later, assault with a deadly weapon. Hope they killed his new dog, but I doubt they had the right.
  2. interesting reading but i need to get to work, my health insurance has just gone up another 200.00 a month.

  4. i am still being blown away by the speakers, (just got my forte's a couple weeks ago) i am using an old jvc 110 wpc ss. i have not had the chance to try tubes yet but...it will happen. i think these have some nice bass just by themselves, of course the last speakers had little 8" woofers, big difference. good luck making a choice. my next upgrade has to be my cd player. hummmm
  5. Have any of you ever clapped this hard? ---------------- while driving one day a buddy was comming the opposite way, we both held out our hands not giving much thought i guess as to the resultant velocity...we "high fived" i would guess neither of us was going over 10mph, but it sure as heck hurt. not the same as clapping you're own hands i guess butstill funny to think back on
  6. dear edwinr, after all the fuss over the "BIG THREAD", why not buy what you want. as facinating as i find the debate, it's really all in your head. get what you want, don't stir the the pot just to see if it will still boil over. i can't believe you would start all over again after starting it "again". that last thread nearly made me want to sell my stereo and move to a place with no electricity. i think this is a cool place with some very helpful folks. personally i think the math speaks volumes. that is my opinion. i don't care who likes it. i do not come here to impress anyone or start some controvercial line of crap that few want to read. buy it, listen to it, ask questions if you have them, but let this one go away. sorry if i have stepped over the line all you venerable non-punctally challenged correct spelling pc friendly folks but i can't take another hate fest. i will watch and if it is me that is the ignorant one then i will go away. i have no problems there. i really do not think this needs to keep going on and on.

In addition, bios does not have a program to keep time. There are two pulses on the motherboard, both are generated with crystals. ---------------- unless you really know what you are doing, do not flash the bios...

  9. could you inlay something in the gap to look nice? some ebony strips might be tasty? with a router and a straight edge it would be easy to make that gap say 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch and lay in something that might look cool? just hate to see all that labor and nice hard work go down the potty.

  16. while i don't recommend this for most, i personally do not run anti-virus. trend micro allows you to scan you're drives/computer free. i use trend to scan for virus and spybot and adaware to scan for bots and adware. adaware and spybot can usually kill adware but not always. once i know i have a problem ie. virus i can deal with it. some are tricky and really test my ability. i guess i am just too cheap to pay when i can delete these files myself. i have however made some mistakes and lost some data along the way, like 30k songs. fortunatly i keep things backed-up. be diligent. run adaware and spybot often.
  17. personally i wouldn't go if couldn't take some Stones, Zeppelin, and Santana.
