  1. I'm going to bid $60,000.00 just so I can say I did. What if you win??????????? Then he can break out the rubbing alcohol and give it a good cleaning [] that would be bad on acetate, no? My natural sarcasm does not come across well behind this keyboard, hence the winking smiley at the end. It was a poor atempt at a joke, sorry! Jeremy

  3. Where is Ralph located in Illinois? Jeremy
  4. You can not go wrong for that price. Even if you end up hating it, you should be able to sell it for a profit. Don't hesitate to buy if it works. Good luck. Jeremy
  5. I'm in the same boat Larry. I just bought a used Blueberry Xtreme and I have a bad tube on the phono side, so while i'm waiting for new tubes to arrive i'm listening to vinyl on a Pioneer SX-650 at a whopping 35 watts a channel. It gets plenty loud though. I love the look of those old silver face Pioneers. I'm keeping my eyes peeled for a monster receiver like yours. Congrats again. Jeremy
  6. The better the DAC's and the power supply, the more they cost. Jeremy
  7. I edited my post above I meant to say 0-15mv is ideal, not anything above. Of course I think if you have 0mv you have other problems. Remember we are talking millivolts, so you are probably not going to do much harm to your speakers at 100mv or less, but that should be nearing the voltage for the protection circut to kick in if it has one. At this point the amp is really not sounding like it was intended to. But if something is seriously awry you could send 10, 20, 30 DC volts to your speakers and THAT will do some damage. I feel it's always worth checking before hooking up any vintage DC coupled amp for the 1st time. I have a crappy set of Technics "bench" speakers that I use for 1st time hook up. I am by no means an expert on this subject, so I am hesitant to give too much advice. Here is a link to a really good thread on the topic at AudioKarma. http://audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=5634 Jeremy
  8. Sounds like a great deal. I've got a few of the old Pioneers that I really like. Before you hook it up to your Cornwalls, you should check the DC offset, as you should on any vintage receiver. Just turn it on with volume at 0 and tone controls at neutral on any input other than phono, and put your multimeter probes in the speaker terminals. Set the meter to DC mv and let it sit for about 10 min. and see what you get. 0-15 mv is ideal, anything over 75mv is not good, and if it's over 100mv, do not hook up any speakers to it, that you care about. This is a ritual I practice with any old SS equipment that I come across. Good luck. Jeremy
  9. It is very likely I will bid as well. Jeremy
  10. Hey Bill. Belvidere has a Chrysler Assembly plant as you probably know. My dad worked there for 30 years starting in 1965. And I believe they did build some Plymouth BelvEdere's in the town of Belvidere. Mostly Fury's and Polara's back in the big car days. Now it's home of the Dodge Caliber and Jeep Compass. Kevin I will send you a private message with my cell number. Maybe we can find a time to get together and see if we can figure your problem out. Jeremy
  11. I have an SA-7800 and I really like it. Mine has one channel slightly weaker than the other, but overall I really like the sound. I plan to use it in a second 2-channel set up, but I have considered buying a couple more for another 5.1 or 6.1 set up. But first I think i'm going to go through it and recap it. Jeremy
  12. Hey Kevin, Where are you located in Rockford? I'm in Belvidere and I work in Rockford. Maybe we could get together and do some listening to see if we can pinpoint the problem. Always nice to have a forum member close by! Jeremy
  13. Ikea sells the Expedit line of shelves, which are pretty nice. They come in 2 sizes, the bigger of which is about 72"x72" and 2 or 3 colors. I have the big one and I think it was $179. Shipping may be prohibitive as it comes in 3 heavy boxes. There are several pictures on this forum from those who have them. I think the most impressive display belongs to charlieboy. I believe Parrot has one, and I think Wardsweb has the smaller one. I'm sure there are more. Jeremy
  14. Got mine too. I'll hit you back soon. Thanx Scott, Jeremy
  15. That is a pretty neat test. I could hear real well to 16khz, then it disappeared. Not sure if it was me, or my Pro Media 2.1, or the somewhat noisy room i'm in. I was suprised to hear anything over 14khz. My hearing has noticably declined in the last year. What scares me is i'm only 34 years old. Jeremy
  16. I ordered 2 the day they went on sale Oct 19th. I just got them on Monday. Odd thing is, I thought it would be from the signed and numbered edition of 40, but I got 2 of the artist prints instead. #21 and #22 of 60. It's fine though, they are still very nicely done. Now off for some custom framing. Jeremy
  17. Cherry, or Maple RF-7's are beautiful, relatively cheap, a great bang for the buck, and hold their value pretty well. Oh, yeah, they sound great too! Jeremy
  18. I like my RF-7's set to large in the front and small in the rear. I then have my subs crossed over at 80 hz. I think your sub is missing too much potential info at 60 hz. The overlap of letting the 7's roll off naturaly and the sub at 80 hz is music to my ears. Don't settle for a particular setting because it seems to make sense. Try many different settings (even RF-7's set to small) and go with what sounds the most pleasing to you, not with what makes the most sense. Good luck and have fun, Jeremy
  19. Another vote for the RC-7. It is in another league over the rc-35. The difference will be very noticable. Jeremy
  20. Hey Gil, one of my wife's running mates is doing the Sears Tower run tomarrow also. It must be a mad house in there. I can't imagine! Good luck to all at the tower tomarrow! Jeremy
  21. It's cool that you are starting young. I used to run in high school and shortly after, but that's been 15 years. My wife runs and has done the Chicago Marathon the last two years. It has almost inspired me to start again. It's a great way to get into shape and lose some extra weight. Good luck and keep it up. Jeremy
  22. Me, me, me. I want it. I see you are only about 2hrs away. I can pick up this weekend, and bring cash!!!!! Jeremy
