  1. Just look at these. Do these look cheaper? I'm just picking up on this thread so forgive me if I missed something (I read the whole thing) but are you joking? That pic looks very photoshopped.
  2. I agree that comcast is comcast and what one person gets the other should be able to get. A lot of times you will get different answers when talking to different customer service reps though. I installed my HD box myself without the help of a tech, it was fairly simple, it is a motorola. It did not come with a manual, so I will have to try and figure out how to get in to the resolution section.
  3. could it be the input on the tv? Do you have a second component input that you could try? I have a comcast HDTV DVR and have never had this problem...although I have had many other problems Do you have any other component video source (dvd, xbox) that you could plug in and see if the problem is still there?
  4. I posted pretty much this exact thread (I got the same fronts). The suggestion I got was that a center channel would be the best purchase. If anyone would care to comment on my thread further the link is below. http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/656351/ShowPost.aspx#656351
  5. Welcome to the boards. I'm not the most experienced here but I can tell ya what I know. I hope this isn't too basic for you, but the two lines that Klipsch sells that I am most familiar with (and are probably most popular for Home Theater) are the Synergy line and the Reference series. The Synergy series is available at best buy. The reference series is not, you would have to look at a more high end audio store. If you are wanting an entire system, reciever, fronts, rears, sub for that amount of money you would have to go with the synergy series as the reference series is too expensive. Otherwise most of us piece their home theater together over time instead of all at once. You generally can afford higher end products that way. Let us know what you are thinking, and get out to best buy and hopefully another local store to compare these two series of speakers.
  6. hey guys, I thought I would look to you for some help. I'd like to start saving up for my next addition to my home theatre. Below are the details of my setup. I want to consider four categories for upgrade: Sub, Center channel, surrounds, or Reciever. I wanted opinions on which would add the most to my home theater. The budget is going to be $500 or less. Used is an option as I bought my RF35s used, and have been very happy with them, but new is preferred. Current Setup: Room Approx 20x15 Sony 46inch rear projection HDTV RF35 - Fronts Pioneer VSX-D309 Reciever (crappy I know) The rest are speakers from HT in a box package, nothing notable. EDIT: I guess I should mention that this system is mainly used for gaming on my xbox 360, then tv/movies, and lastly music. Sub - Looking at the Synergy series 12inch sub. I wasn't sure if mixing the synergy series sub with my reference series fronts would give me the all around sound that I wanted. The problem is that the reference series subs are pretty expensive and I couldn't justify that kind of money right now. Other recommendations would be good but I think the budget is going to be too limiting in this category. Center - I would go with either the RC35, or RC7 depending on what kind of price I could get.... ideally the RC7 Surrounds - Again looking for either RS35, or RS7 depending on price. Reciever - Many options here... this could almost be it's own thread. Harmon Kardon, Denon, etc. Basically I'm looking for something that could pump these speakers... 6.1 preferred, 7.1 wouldn't really work in my current house but you always have to look to the future! I know I've asked a mouthful, but first questions is which category would be the best upgrade, and from there the second question is which particular product in that category. Thanks for the help. Everybody on here seems very knowledgeable.
  7. agreed, I would not do this... I know that I kick my speakers up a bit and if I have set a xbox controller up there it will vibrate right off... now a reciever is much heavier, but 1. you never know what could happen 2. let the sub have room to perform. 3. the scratching part is possible as well
  8. I also have one, and I love it. The graphics are amazing, and the games are good. The xbox live marketplace is cool because you can download game demos, and high definition movei trailers. I am running digital audio to my reciever so the sound is great too. Probably my favorite feature is being able to stream mp3's off my pc and listen on them on my rf35's. I have the 2.1 computer speakers but with as much music as I have it's great to hear it on my 35's. don't get me wrong there are things I dislike, but I have had no overheating issues, and I am overall happy with the system.
  9. I know it's after the fact, but comcast has been telling me that my dvi port was not activated, but video 7 on my tv says different!
  10. Thanks for the replies. I agree that I should be able to get HDTV withOUT a cable provider (thus the reason it is called OTA). I will triple check the tv settings, but I didn't see anythat applied to HD signal. If anyone has any other info let me know, it may help out.
  11. The particular tv that he has is not just HD ready, but has the HD reciever built in. Thanks for the suggestion Scooter My understanding of it is that he can recieve certain channels over the air, and channels like NBC broadcast HD over the air, so his tv should be able to recieve it without help from the local cable company. The only thing that I can think of is, maybe he needs an antenna to. From looking at this antennaweb website it looks like that may be what he needs.
  12. Thought I would see what help I can get on this subject. I have an HDTV monitor, and I recieve HDTV through my cable company who provides me with the HD reciever. My Father in law has a Sony TV similar to mine, but his has a built in HD reciever. they do not get cable so he is trying to get HD programming OTA (over the air). The thing is, I know what HD looks like, and he is definitely not getting HD. I don't have any experience with TV's that have built in HD recievers, but I have looked through the menu and do not see any special settings, so my question is, what else has to be done for a tv to recieve HDTV OTA? Am I missing any equipment?
  13. Yes that is correct, and obviously your audio setup may vary but I just run the audio out from my cable box and in to my reciever.
  14. I have my box sending signal to my tv 3 different times. Once in RCA, once in component, and once in DVI. I don't notice a big difference between the Component and DVI. I know that's a little off topic, but just giving what info I have.
  15. I feel for ya man. My room mate put a candle on top of my 46inch sony tv. Sure enough it didn't take long before the candle fell. It's a good thing he didn't start an actual fire, but he got wax on the screen (it's a rear projection) and then it got down in the speaker holes of the tv. I got it off the screen, but never got it out of the speaker holes. I guess it doesn't matter since I picked up my Rf35's but still.... room mates.... As for your situation... call klipsch, get a replacement grill.
  16. I have the demo... don't think we can play over that. It looks great though. I don't play a lot of sports games, but my favorite part of the game is the instant replay. you have so much control over the camera.
  17. This is essentially the setup I have 35's with digital output. It sounds great! I have been playing this way for a while now since the original xbox. You will love it. The best part of the whole thing in my opinion is streaming my mp3's from my pc to the 360 so the sound comes out on my 35's!!! I love it. All that music at my fingertips coming across these great speakers.

    F3's?

As people have said, you will like them. I have RF-35's and I still like to listen to the synergy series when I am in best buy. I would say if you can go up to the reference series you won't be disappointed, but if you cannot, you will be happy with the synergy series. If you look around you can find a used pair of RF35's for $500 (I don't know what the SF3's run)
  19. I take it you are new to HD? If so (really either way) I recommend waiting a few months and saving that extra money. There are a lot of details to be considered rather than just walking in to the store and saying "that one has the best picture I'll take that one." Use the couple of months that you are saving to read all you can and learn the ins and outs of hdtv. Here are some great resources for you. the website is good, but more so start listening to the podcast, and maybe even send a question in to them to see if they can respond. Prices of HDTV's are falling. Using the time to save more, learn more, and let prices drop is the smartest way to go. www.hdbeat.com http://podcasts.yahoo.com/series?s=5417039b055b2de3a763fc384032caf6
  20. I'd try to work that price down a bit. I have just read from other people that they have been able to get better prices on these speakers.
  21. Ya, you can get a used set of RF-35's for $500. That's what I paid for mine, and I have been very happy with them.
  22. ya I wanted to throw another opinion out that this is a scam.... I ran in to this when looking at motorcycles on ebay, and there are few key things about this type of auction. They will always be outside of US. They will normally offer to pay shipping (who does that?) They will want you to make the transaction outside of ebay (western union) DO NOT FALL FOR THIS. I have written ebay about it, and they simply say that they cannot protect people from transaction outside of ebay. Another fun thing to do is to look at other items the seller has sold, I bet there is nothing similar to Klipsch speakers. On one particular motorcycle the previous items were all baby clothes... and they wanted us to believe that this same person was riding a crotch rocket?
  23. Nice TV. I would try to find a store where you can demo the speakers before purchasing... then find the model you want and get to finding the best price on that model. That is what I did, and I am very happy with the deal I got. It will also depend on how much you want to spend, and if you are crunched for space. If not, you could look at the reference series. Most people wind up piecing together their systems as money allows. As for the reciever, HK does make a good one, you can search and find recommendations on that but HK and Denon seem to be what a lot of people like across the forums. I'm sure you will get some more detailed answers, but I hope this helps.
  24. I suppose not... as long as there are enough HD inputs to meet my needs... I guess that is a matter of shopping around.
