Homemede KLF 20 center 11. RB 35s from audio warehouse 12. RS 7s from Play 13. RC 7 from Audio Warehouse 14. RF 7 from Frawley's At some point there were some Fisher center channel and surround speakers from Lowes. Also a KSW 150 sub and a Martin Logan Depth sub. Oh yeah, and some Realistic Minumus 7s which in the day rocked for what they were. Plus the variety of car stuff, Jensen Dual Cones, Coax, Triax and Quadrax, various Pioneer 3 way, TS something or other with the white woofers and silver mid/tweets (loved them things), Concept triaxials, the surface mount Pioneers with the passive radiator(had them sittin on the rear deck of the Celica), the three way seperate crap I bought from some shady dude who lived in Hub Village(Willy, I know you know where that is/was), the 6 x 9 dual cone factory speakers that came out of a Mercury Marquis that my mom rented when I was 14 and one of my friends had the bright idea to yank them out and put some junky(ier) speakers back in their place..........ooooh, ooh, ooh and a pait of Sansui I don't know what that my sister gave me for CHristmas one year that she bought from CC for like 15 bucks because the cabinets were beat all to hell and rattled...........I bet there's more but I gotta get some work done. Billy
  2. Lou Reed compared the B & W and RB 75s in this article and liked the RBs much better. I don't know how the 75s compare to the 83s but you would have to think the 83s are better. But hey, that's just one guy. SmartMoney Reprint_062404.pdf
  3. I think some of the numbers are probably a bit skewed toward plasma, probably because Pioneer's big push is plasma.
  4. Does anyone have one of the $99 Prontos that Klipsch is selling on their ebay store?
  5. my aren't we touchy? They say a bit dog hollers the loudest. I do believe I have struck a nerve that may have been previously exposed.
  6. very true, like the time I fronted 10.......yikes, wrong crowd
  7. On the other hand, you have people out there like Sunburnwilly. I brought him an amplifier and told him just check it out, see if you like it and pay me whenever, no biggie. Well, Willy made every effort to pay me as soon as possible. It just depends on who you're dealing with. My suggestion is to bow up and take the freakin TV from the loser.
  8. Spaceballs Uncle Buck Jenna Jameson is In The Zone
  9. Badges? We don't need no stinkin' badges.
  10. Mountain, Pacific, Lunar, Polar, yadda yadda yadda I don't really give a crap what you call it it sucks.
  11. This is crazy as hell. We just got finished with the Dealer Reception @ the MGM Grand (Bruce Hornsby and Kool and the Gang played), had a few drinks, played some slots and came up to the room tired as hell. I look at the clock and it's 9:45. Good grief, it feels like frickin 12:45. Hell my watch said it's 12:45, my body said it's 12:45 but it's 9:45. We both woke up at 4:00 this morning ready to go. Frankly, this sucks. Oh well, it'll be easy to get up in the morning for my 8:00 breakout session. I can't wait to get back to E.S.T.
  12. 1. I ain't luggin 'em upstairs 2. Rock, if they're reasonable, get them you won't be sorry But once football season is over, who knows. I have been considering swapping speakers now. Because I have a full 7.1 Ref system since I'm not selling the RB 35s. It would be RF/RC/RS 7s and RB 35s in the rear, the Martin Logan sub amd B & K electronics. That just might happen during the Winter doldrums.
  13. Would've loved cherry, but he had but one last pair of black. Hey, the wife and I are going to Vegas(Carrier Convention), you got any money you want me to bet for you?
  14. The last thing this forum needs is one, so I won't bore anyone. But I am happy to say that I picked up a NIB pair local from an AD for $1500 out the door. I brought them home and promptly replaced the RB 35s with them and away we went. The VSX 1015 drives them quite well. I know my Reference 200.7/Ref 50 rig would do much much more justice but it aint gonna happen. So call me sick, but now we have a system consisting of RF/RC/RS 7s, a BS old Klipsch KSW 150 sub, Sony 400 disc DVD player, Toshiba 50" HDTV, Hughes HD DTV TIVO and a Pioneer VSX 1015 receiver that basically will be tuned to a few soap operas and children shows. It will keep me downstairs a bit more, I will be using it more now at night rather than trudging upstairs. Anyway, the RF 7s are a totally awesome speaker. Everything I have heard about them is true. The Pioneer has the ability to use the 6th and 7th channel to bi amp the mains. I am going to do this at some point. I guess it will make a difference. I put Star Wars AOTC in the first night and the poor little KSW 150 sounded like a machine gun. I guess I'm gonna need a sub[] But the speakers absolutely rocked. Then some 2 channel CD music; David Sanborn, AC DC and Frank Sinatra. All handled very well. The AC DC was a little edgey but we are talking about late 70s rock. All in all, I can tell I'm really gonna love these things.
  15. a post as to whether you should give me the Carver back? Nah, I don't think I need it. I listened to them at Frawleys today with an HK 45 watt receiver and I thought they were great. I think they will be fine playing the likes of the young and the restless, Dora the Explorer and Pie Pie (as my daughter calls Popeye)........and I'm gettin the 7s......thats right Willy, I will have a complete set of shiny coned speakers, at least they will have a black dustcap on all the woofers.
  16. any other opinions. 2 totally different ones here. Any opinions on the midrange (or lack of) issue MarkBK mentioned?
  17. OK, I knew this second system would get out of hand. So now I have a chance to buy NIB 7s for $1500 or NIB 5s for $1100, both from a local authorized dealer. I already have RS 7s and a RC 7 for this system powered by a Pioneer VSX 1015. What should I do? I know the 7s are power hungry. The Pioneer has the ability to use the 6th and 7th channel to bi-amp the mains. Would this help with the power requirements. Willy, can I have the Carver back?
  18. Great score Ian. So you'll be using your receiver for a pre? You'll have to have pre-outs on it, then I'd run the CF-3s off the monster and the center and 2 surrounds off onboard amps. Get a SPL meter and calibrate each channel. Those epics are gonna be pretty intense with that Carver. Too bad it's not a 3 channel, at least the front 3 would be the same class. If Sunburnwilly ever gets a new amp, his new/my old Carver @ 360 x 3 would be great for your center and surrounds. Then the amp and center would be reunited way the hell out in Colorado. You're gonna need to spring for a neighborhood party and make good friends with everyone. Maybe but in some shatter-proof windows, too. Billy
  19. that is a good deal wuzzer. I can't believe they haven't sold yet.
  20. they can also cause nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and sexual side effects.............I'M READY!
  21. don't ask, i feel stupid enough already Nothing to feel stupid about - the object is to enjoy the music you like in whatever form, mode, source, media, etc. that suits your appropriate level of convenience, cost, and enjoyment. I personally like pulling out a record, cleaning it, and cueing it up for a deliberate listen - usually both sides - always a whole side at a time. Others think that is crazy with the present technology that allows for finding and playing individual songs from a bank of stored music that rivals the Library of Congress. I find that there is more variability in the musical content of folk's tastes in program material (how can this person be listening to that crap and liking it?), than there is variability in the mechanisms with which folks playback their music. The only real stupid thing would be to forgo enjoying the music you like because someone said your playback system was inadequate or your choice in music was no good. Who cares what other people think? Musical enjoyment is a profoundly personal experience - no one may legitimately intrude on that space. Don't let them. Pauln NO, no, stupid for posting my own quote. I was actually going to edit it and I quoted it instead....DUH.....but hey, you are right about that.
