  1. Thanks to shepjk01 I am the new owner of a pair of RF-7's with the Dean modified crossovers and a RC-7.[Y] I am waiting for my wife to leave the house so I can crank them up. The wife is still pissed at me since I was set to buy a Paradigm 5.1 setup and when the wife asked how big the speakers are I described the dimmensions of the monitor 7's. Then the RF-7's and RC-7 became available and since I am a Klipsch fan (currently own a pair of Forte's) I had to jump on these. When I brought them home the wife was expecting to see some relative small speakers and I show up with the RF-7 beasts. I suppose it could be worse, I could have came home with some Klipschorns. I you look at shepjk01 signature photo, the photo does not do his setup justice. There is a subwoofer next to his TV that is the size of my very large footstool. The sound from his system puts most movie theaters to shame. Also his collection of blueray and HD DVD's does put movie theaters to shame.
  2. Replied to your PM, I have the wife's approval and will call you to make arrangements to pick them up. Thanks, Ray
  3. I'm still interested, I sent you a PM did you receive it?
  4. Any chance you are selling a pair of RF7's to go with them?
  5. Are the RF-7/RC-7 still for sale? I know it's been a long time since the last post but I did not see a sold sign.
  6. I did some searching for the original Forte schematic (3 months ago), could not locate one and decided to e-mail Klipsch. The schematic I attached is from Steve Phillips from Klipsch. Thanks again to Steve.
  7. Send me your e-mail and I will forward you the Forte schematic if the file attachement doesn't work. Forte.pdf
  8. I also increased the turn-on delay timer on my Pioneer SX-1980 receiver to allow the preamp tubes to warm up which I am driving with a homemade tube pre-amp.
  9. I have a very early build of Forte I speakers, the crossover is hardwired to the back of the round cup. I am currently driving them with my Dynaco 70 tube amp (35 WPC). I plan on doing capacitor upgrades to them as well as wiring them up for bi-amp capability. I also plan on mounting the crossover components on a 3"x5" piece of wood to spread out the components more. I would highly recommend driving the Forte's with a tube amp - mine sound better then my neighbors B&O Pentas which are driven with a built-in 150 watt amp.
  10. My Dynaco tube pre-amp (PAS-2) mates perfectly with my Dynaco ST-70 amp. The PAS-2 has a loudness switch but I don't use mine since the tubes sound so sweet over the Klipsch speakers that I never play at "background" volume levels.
  11. You might consider building yourself a "new" set of speakers off your old plan. You can always find room for them in your garage. Great story!
  12. I would be interested in the model number as well. My wife would kill me if I brought home another non-working TV however I have a 35" Sony CRT TV that has problems with the horizontal size and could possibly use a "parts" tv.
  13. Sony doesn't make a CRT TV over 36". Could this be a 36" TV? How much $ are you asking for it?
  14. The size of the TV is determined by measuring the tube diagonally. You might want to try to increase the voltage to the CRT gun. Usually there is a pot on the circuit board at the rear of the CRT. Be carefull not to increase it very much. I might be interested in your TV. I live in Carol Stream IL.
  15. My avaitor is a picture of my EL34's from my 40+ year old Dynaco ST-70. Love that blue glow.

  17. I've found this web site to contain intersting info on Dynaco history: http://home.indy.net/~gregdunn/dynaco/ I have the Dynaco ST-70 amp mated to a pair of Klipsch forte's. It is sad that they don't make stereo equipment like that anymore. I am glad I own a piece of Dynaco history. I also prefer to listen to my Dynaco amp with the stock design, the sound is amazing expecially with Klipsch speakers. Dynaco also produced speakers which from what I have read sound great. I have not had the pleasure of personally listening to a pair of Dynaco speakers.
  18. Just can't beat the tube/horn combo. Are you using a Dynaco tube pre-amp? Rats on cheese-wiz & a hot dog roaster, what more could you ask for.
  19. The music we were playing didn't have any real low bass and my Dynaco amp does not reproduce the low bass like my Pioneer SX-1980. I have plans to bi-amp my system using the Dynaco amp for the mids/tweeters and the Pioneer for the bass. The Penta's were the top of the line back in its day but the thing I don't like about the design is that you are stuck with the 150 wpc amp that are built into them.
  20. During a recent cookout with some neighbors, I cranked up my Dynaco ST-70/Klipsch Forte combo for the guys. One of my neighbors has a pair of B&O Penta's. After hearing my system we went over to his house to play the same music (Frank Zappa). Although the Penta's are a very well balanced speaker, my Klipsh outperformed them. The sound out of the Klipsch was clearer and more defined. The Dynaco/Klipsch combo (35 wpc) was much louder then the B&O system (150 wpc). It's amazing what tubes can due to Klipsch speakers.
  21. The 1280 & Heresy combo would be a great system for a garage! If you really must part with your Pioneer you might consider posting it in Audiokarma.org. They have a seperate Pioneer section and have people appreciate what you have. Just a suggestion rather then paying e-bay.
  22. Dave, I also fell in love with tubes/klipsch combination when I finished re-capping my Dynaco tube equipment. I also love my Pioneer SX-1980 receiver. After spending time listening to both, I decided to bi-amp my Pioneer receiver. I plan on having the Dynaco ST-70 handle the mids & tweeters and have the 270 WPC Pioneer handle the woofers. The Pioneer does better with the lows and the Dynaco does better with the mid & highs. Once I finalize my plans on the bi-amp setup I hope to have the best that each amplifier offers. Good luck with the sale of your equipment. I hope you don't regret selling your Pioneer receiver.
  23. If your Chevy truck is built like my 92 Astro van with 167K miles, then it definetly will be up for the trip as long as you figure out how to get it across the water. As far as the wife I suppose you are considered "happy" instead of "married".
  24. I bet it would be an easy sell to the wife if you agreed to bring her along to pick up the Cornwalls.
