  1. That is what I remember from McIntosh from last year. Unfortunately they didn't bring their dual mono amp. Link Must be a made to order amp.
  2. For those attending, I would like to read your comments. I had made plans beforehand and could't attend. I looked at who has occupied the larger rooms and it appears that companies are downsizing. For example McIntosh is sharring a room with other vendors, Kiipsch is up on the 12th floor in a hotel sized room.
  3. The mod was intended for the RF-7 only, not the RC-7 if I'm reading your post correctly.
  4. The Marantz will provide plenty of power but will not unleash the full potential of the Forte's when driven with more clean power. I have Forte 1's and with plenty of clean power they can produce concert volume levels in my basement. The same is true for my RF-7 1's.
  5. This photo looks like photo cropping, the speaker riser appears to be angled but you can't see the sides where the top of the speaker appears parallel to the wall. The depth of the speaker appears to be shorter compared to the dresser sitting next to it. Makes me wonder.
  6. It has been awhile since I compared the Pioneer SX-1980 to the Dynaco since I use the Pioneer to drive the woofers on the Forte's and the Dynaco to power the mids & tweeters. I did this to get the chest thumping bass from the SS amp and the tube sound for the horns. The Dynaco could not produce the tight low end like the Pioneer, maybe because it has a tube rectifier and is only 35 wpc. My music choice is classic rock/heavy metal but I appreciate any good recording regardless of music style. Back in my college days (early 1980's before CD players) I compared my SX-1980 head to head with a higher end Yahama receiver (200wpc). The Yahama sounded "sterile" meaning that it didn't add any "warmth" to the sound which was their signature sound back then. The SX-1980 had more of a "live" sound meaning that you felt a double bass drum kick you in the chest and acoustic guitar/violin stings resonated like the artist was in the room. My speakers back then were Speakerlab S30's which produced really low accurate bass. I also have an older Pioneer SX-990 receiver for my smaller 2-channel system that has a nice warm sound, almost tube-like, for a SS amp. My HT system is an older Pioneer Elite HT receiver that I use with my Klipsch RF-7 HT speakers. The sound is very clean and detailed with plenty of power. I mainly use this system for blu-ray movies/concerts and SACD's.
  7. Mine is far from good shape but it gets the job done. Which Forte's do you have?
  8. Sorry, yes I was asking you. Thanks for sharing, I have a stock ST-70 with the original 7199 driver tubes and a older PAS-2 with the gold faceplate. Kenny's amps & pre-amps are enticing.
  9. My take on the overheating issues is to physically turn them off when not in use as opposed to using the "auto on" mode. I saw the Klipsch FB live post on the new subwoofer line and they come standard with "isolation feet" which couples the subwoofer to the floor. SVS came out with their version Link which made an improvment for my SVS sub. Tighter bass and it no longer "walks" against the wall.
  10. Thanks for the explaination of lumber core. I don't have any imaging problems, my Forte's are only 6' apart and I find that they image better when facing forward. My RF7's on the other hand are towed in. At least I don't have Klipschorns over 2' from the rear wall like a local Klipsch dealer, PWK would definately disagree (as well as Roy).
  11. I'm not a wood expert but not sure what a "solid lumber core panel" is, I noticed that my Forte 1's have 5 ply's by looking at the edge when I had my midrange out recently. After having my Forte's for a number of years, I would never recommend 1/2" to 1" rear spacing, nor would I recommend tow-in of the speakers. I get better imaging with them facing straight forward.
  12. Forte 1's were built with plywood, not MDF.
  13. My ideal distance is 12-13 inches from the rear wall for my Forte 1's as well.
  14. You have some very impressive equipment in your setup. All you need is additional speaker wire and a means to independently adjust the gain between the two amps. Your SS amp is more than capable of unleashing the full potential of the Forte's. Combined with a tube amp could be the icing on the cake. I would be interested in your impression/results of bi-amping.
  15. I replaced the caps and physically seperated the crossover into two seperate crossovers and reused the inductors and terminal cup. The problem with the early version of the Forte 1's is that they crammed the crossover on the back of the terminal cup which caused some slight warping due to heat when played at higher volumes.
  16. I have Forte 1's with a Dynaco ST-70 on the mids/highs and a Pioneer SX-1980 driving the woofers. Very impressive, chest thumping bass with the Pioneer and smooth upper end with the Dynaco. No tweeking needed, I even tied my SVS subwoofer in the mix.
  17. Curious as to the reasoning behind this?
  18. I had the exact opposite experience with rope caulking my Forte 1 horns, I couldn't get the rope caulk off fast enough. I use a tube amp for the horns, never had any harshness.
  19. Are you sure that reading wasn't mV. That would indicate a breaker tripped.
  20. Do you have the option to "temporary" move the Forte's where you have a continuous solid wall behind them? Like Ski Bum stated "Your room won't allow the sort of boundary reinforcement for the bass". This will determine if the forward midrange is due to lack of bass.
  21. I stopped in ABT the other day and I was not impressed with the room layout. I was setup like a conference room with a huge table in the middle which was in the way of the "ideal" listening area. They had 75th edition K-horns, Forte IVs and Heresey IVs all pulled away from the back wall about 2 1/2 feet. 😒 I was impressed with the Forte's smooth midrange but they produced very little bass which made them sound more like bookshelf speakers. Maybe from being too far from the rear wall? Eitherway I will be enjoying my Forte 1's for many more years.
  22. This should answer your questions: https://community.klipsch.com/index.php?/topic/209308-klipsch-rs-7-capacitor-upgrade/#comment-2737356
  23. I have a pair of RS-7's unfortunately not for sale. My suggestion is to replace the aging capacitors, made a noticable difference on my system especially with SACD's.
  24. No applogies needed, I called first since their website said to call first due to store construction. I remember visiting their old location, at that time they had the full line of Heritage speakers which was quite impressive. Must be too expensive to have the full line of Heritage speakers on display now, especially with the Jubilees in the lineup.
