  1. Ah...I well remember hitching a trailer to my truck and heading for Houston for my K-horns. No snow or rain, 70 mph. Hadn't pulled a trailer since the late 1970's. Hard to back up[:$]. Well worth it!
  2. I think $87, I was running around and wasn't able to bid any higher then my original $80. So I called my friend and he jumped it up to $85 within the last minute but the other guy got his bid in also before the end. [:'(] Next time I will be ready and be at home for the end. James James, Next time try e-snipe. Put your top bid in, wait until the auction is over to see if you win. Keeps you from getting into macho bidding wars. You can get your bid in with 2 seconds to spare.
  3. My tastes have shifted from classic rock to a sprinkle of blues and jazz, even some classic organ music. Surprisingly my interest in classical music has waned somewhat. Can't recall the last time I played a classical CD.
  4. I'm pretty satisfied with the Nitty Gritty 2.5Fi that I have.
  5. Rob, ...............I'm located in far North Dallas. ............. Would that location be in Highland Park? That place hides more Mac/Klipsch gear than any other place on the planet........., IMHO. ........... tc Nope...Dallas. Near Marsh Lane and George Bush.
  6. Try DFW_Hornheads...several of us have tube amps. I'm located in far North Dallas. I only have a McIntosh MC-275. It maybe a bit more upscale (pricey) than what you are interested in. You are welcome to try it out.
  7. I have used Blue Jeans cable in the past with good results. Another company to consider is Tendon Cables. Great prices, fast shipping. Ever wonder what makes up a cable? Look at this review of Tendon cables. The reviewer cut them to pieces to see what they look like.
  8. Start with the 12 o'clock position.
  9. CONCERT REVIEW: Blues gala in Grapevine perfect for Dallas tie to Grammy nomination CONCERT REVIEW: Grapevine gala perfect for Dallas tie to Grammy nom 12:00 AM CST on Sunday, February 10, 2008 By MATT WEITZ / Special Contributor to The Dallas Morning News guidelive@dallasnews.com GRAPEVINE – It was a nearly perfect melding of blues' past, present and future at the Palace Theatre Arts Center on Friday night as Blue Shoe Project celebrated the Grammy nomination of its Last of the Great Mississippi Delta Bluesmen: Live in Dallas for best traditional blues album. RANDY ELI GROTHE/DMNAt 92, Chicago's David 'Honeyboy' Edwards sings the blues at the Palace Theatre Arts Center in Grapevine on Friday night. The gala's keynote player was Chicago's David "Honeyboy" Edwards, who performed in the 2004 Dallas concert recorded for this album with Joe Wille "Pinetop" Perkins, Henry James Townsend and Robert Lockwood Jr. Of those four elder statesmen of the blues, only Mr. Perkins, 94, and Mr. Edwards, 92, survive. Blues' present came in performances by Denton's Bone Doggie and the Hickory Street Hellraisers, white boys who did a fairly good job of conducting the blues through their own unique filter, including a sultry version of the pop-rockabilly standard "Stray Cat Strut." The future hailed from St. Louis in the person of a 17-year-old blues prodigy Marquise Knox, who has been closely associated with Blue Shoe Project, a Colleyville-based nonprofit group that promotes awareness of the blues. Blue Shoe recorded the classic 2004 blues concert at Dallas' Majestic Theatre. "I'm a bluesman. That's me," Mr. Knox said to the crowd on the show date that was also his birthday. He essayed a group of songs that not only showed off his chops but also revealed a sensitive side, addressing such subjects as the passing of a beloved uncle. Then it was time for Mr. Edwards, who recently appeared in the Walk Hard mockumentary as Dewey Cox's (John C. Reilly's) first musical muse. There might be a stitch in his step and rasp to his voice, but Mr. Edwards was completely in control of the stage from the moment he stepped upon it. His guitar was turned up, loud, and his supple slide playing had all the power of another classicist, Blind Willie Johnson. ("Oh, I met him a time or two," Mr. Edwards said earlier of the player whose "Dark Was the Night, Cold Was Ground" was chosen for inclusion on the Voyager deep space probe. "Nice guy, very personable.") Mr. Edwards played with strength and power throughout the show. He may have stood for the historical part of the evening's equation, but there was no sense of diminished capacity or honorable mention in his performance. When, at the evening's finale, Mr. Knox and the Hellraisers joined him onstage, it was a near-perfect encapsulation of the past, present and future of an American art form.
  10. The Blue Shoe Project, a local nonprofit label run by Jeff and Michael Dyson, put out the traditional blues album winner: Last of the Great Mississippi Delta Bluesmen: Live in Dallas, featuring Honeyboy Edwards, Pinetop Perkins and the late Henry James Townsend and Robert Lockwood Jr.
  11. Awesome show. Free food and drinks (almost too much). Even got Honeyboy Edwards autograph. Wow![Y] Even met Ron H. (Lonelobo).
  12. I sold a pair of black ash here for $800 a couple of years ago. He is yanking your chain.
  13. Dave, Haven't made any comparisons, so don't know about the 980H. It would be neat to have a shootout with various players. I think there would be some interesting surpises.
  14. Looks like someone on the McIntosh forum has discovered the Oppo....http://audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=145247 Won't let me post links again...grrrr.
  15. I have the 1700. Works nice. Seems to me the MAC-1900 is more highly thought of than the 1700. $300 and $275 are terrific prices for these receivers. Expect about $120 each to bring them up to specs. Terry DeWick is the master when it comes to vintage McIntosh.
  16. Only have 2 for 2007: John Fogerty Revival Every once in awhile there is a record with songs that stick in your mind. This is one of them. The Last of the Great Mississippi Delta Bluesmen Grammy nomination. Originally recorded in 2004, released 2007. Terrific recording. David "Honeyboy" Edwards will be playing in Dallas in Feb.
  17. Pomp & Pipes Frederick Fennell Dallas Wind Symphony Paul Riedo organ Arthur Wills The Vikings This one digs deep and will rattle the foundation of the house!
  18. Gotta be lucky to find good stuff at Half-Price Bookstore. Generally everything I'm interested has inflated prices, scratches or not available [:'(] .
  19. Used McIntosh...MC-250, MC-2505, MC-2100, MC-2105 all should do a good job.
