Hey just found this old thread I just set up a black widow on a thorens td 125 mk II. It came with a ortofon lm 20 so i checked the local hi fi shop and they had a new needle for it now call the om 20 anyway Just playing the first few records not bad at all. very quite back ground nice detail and no feed back when cranked. It seems there are not a lot of modern choice for this arm, to bad the shure v15 and stanton 881s are no longer made.

I dont use (or want to use ) cabel/fios or dish for tv just of the air, I am looking for a good hd tv tuner somthing with pic in pic ect. I am using klipschorns / cornwalls/ lascalas and threshold power amps and preamps. I just cant seem to find any tuners. thanks for any info

Dont know how I missed this thread until now? They do not look like my all orig 47 khorn or my 51 ect. They look home made to me plus I don't see way for the sound to get out the back, they might not even be folded horns? btw I used to be khorn58 I should change it to khorn 47.

Threshold made some great amps back in the 80's. The Threshold s150 would make a real nice amp for your klipsch, I see one on ebay right now. If you can find the Threshold fet 2 preamp that would be a match made in heaven. I find theshold amp one of the last good deals on very nice amps now, buy them up before ther words gets out. Nakamich back when they on top of the analog tape world loved them so much they used there design for there amps. I also like scott 299, Marantz tube mcintosh mc 30 tube amps .

Just picked up a pair of these mounted in (bigger than cornwall sized ) karlson cabinets with the t35 tweeters. They put out a lot o bass and sound really really good with blue note recodings.

Lascalas Are small and light compapred to my old eaw 2 15 bass bins (about 4 x the size of split lascal bass box). I have caryed the eaw by my self kind like lifting a pool table..I was just wondering if there were any Vintage horn loaded Pa's being used by pros anywere, i just think they sound so much more a live and punchy than the modern line aray sytems. But there size and weight must have done the big horn sytems in. I have some new Bagend semi line aray sytems I use for paying gigs but I have run the old vintage horn sytems a few times this sumer. My main horn rig is 4 eaw bas bin and 8 lasala upper bass cabs, sfw and comunity mid horns and a dozen ev tweeters or jbl style macougly finned high horns. powerd by Phase linear 700's and 400's of coures for that true 70's rock sound. ther must be a market for vintage Pa rental somwere. My dream is to have a Rock,n roll camp with all period correct PA's from the 50 to today. would be kinda like stepin back in time to here bands sound just as they would have live.

Vintage Marshall pa heads make killer guitar amps but there nor cheap, seems to bring the same big $$$ as the guitar heads. back to the what the pros use, makie and lower end jbl is what the semipros use.

I would go tubes and crank them through some vintage heresy industrials with the evm 12L woofer. Your not the only rocker that thinks some music sounds better with a bit of distortion.

I was just wondering if anyone knows of any pros doing live sound full time that use klipsch.

I think I own # 56 , I thinjk Klipsch made a large batch K-5-D horns all at once in 47, and they show up bass horns made much later. I not so sure they were used in order of serial nomber, just used off the plie as they were needed. Mine was paired with a handmade 47 bass horn by paul himself, I was told by klipsch.

Dam that grille cloth matches my 59 cornwall shoot I'll have to bid.

The six heresys and 2 lascalas were plenty clean and load to keep up with my dimed (on ten) 72 marshall. The pro heresys really work well with the lascalas they added a lot of uper bass punch. I powered them with 2 crown psa2 amps straped to mono one for each side.

Is there a modern or vintage tube amp that push 200 watts that will not break the bank? I love to have a quad of mac 275 but am short the 8 to 12 grand.

Next weekend I'm pulling out the old vintage horn pa , going to use a akg bx15 spring reverb and roland space echo for effects leaving the digital world behind. I'll only have nobs to twist and butons to push should be fun. btw Anyone ever use lascala and heresy industrials as fronts. I'm thinking of using four lasclas and four heresy's as mains.

crab them both by there power cords swing them around your head and let go. Pick up a used lexicon pcm 60 for reverb and a deltalab effectron 1024 and twist away.

The stanton 881 and the shure v15 needles are getting imposible to find nos. Both work and sound real good with the 3009 II improved arms. I just wish could find a nos needle for my stanton and or find a gret new Cart that works well.

The Denon DL-103 won't match up with the 3009 improved as the arm mass is to low for it. Sucks having this arm today as the choices are hard to come by, guess I'll hold out for some $$$ NOS stuff. The real bummer is my other arm is a Infinity black widow which is even lower mass. I keep looking at the new SME arms but $$$$$$

I have a nice Throrens td 125 Mk II with SME 3009 Series II Improved . The head shell says Shure and the cart is a Staton 881s, I can't a find a good replacment needle for it . Tghe arm is a very light low compliance arm ,I see all the best reviewed cart all need High compliance arms. Are ther any good choices for this arm today with new a cart ? t

my pick is a gold on gold real 54-58 strat they just made them right back then. My second best would be the gold on gold 1982 strat. last pick would be a new custom shop strat.

There was a organ model khorn offerd by klipsch in the catologs back in the 50's. I,m pretty sure this is a real one. I always wanted one and still do for my speaker museum/ studio. To bad that one on Ebay is so much $$$$$$ i'll have to wait for a cheaper one or maybe just the mid horn,motor and flap.

Anyone using or listen to any of the the Benz micro cartridge's? I was talking today to a delar in Cammbrige mass that likes them over the Grados for the same money. I think they start around 200 for the Japan factory made and 1000 for the Swiss hand made. They also offer a upgrade trading program which can save big $$$ . I have a sme 3009 improved that needs a cartridge so I am also looking in the 500 - range.
