  1. What led you to those choices if you don't mind me asking, and what is it you are looking for in a sub..
  2. 1. Dont buy new, unauthorized Klipsch on Ebay, thats not cool. 2. If you live in indiana check out Ovation, they have been running great specials on Synergy stuff. But the RS15's will do fine for you .
  3. I run the Monster M2.4s. I had them on Rf7's and they were nice and warm. Very open, but didn't lend any more forwardness of the highs. I now use them on my THX Ultra 2. If you want to get into the quality without a ton of money, i would check out the M1.4s they are about 250.00 pr for a 10-12ft pair with ends. I have about 80' of it for my rears.
  4. If it is a newer player it will have an HDMI output, you will not lose any signal whatsoever and can pick up a Monster connector for about 25.00. I am tellin ya, check out that Yamaha DVDs2500
  5. I used to work for a High end A/V shop in Indiana and we were a Denon dealer, i have to tell you. I put side by side a DVD2910 and a Yamaha DVDs2500 and the 2500 won hands down. It sounds cleaner. More open, and colors are richer and definately has the best black level under a grand. Give it a shot
  6. Sunfire subs are a bit over rated, because they have been out so long. They can produce some decent output, but are a tad bit slow and tone have any real tone to them. An awesome sub in that area would be the Definitive Technology Supercube 2 or 3. they are tiny and are 699 & 899 retail. I am sure they will do an awesome job for you
  7. Luckily where i worked was not in Lebanon, but in Lafayette. Where we had customers in about a 45-50 mile area. So we had a lot of people in the area. But if the cable service from Insight, is an eye into Lebanon's infrastructure then yes, it is HORRIBLE
  8. I just hope you don;t have any XM stock, because Sirius has been spanking it...Maybe because GM can't do anything right. And if you add the games which include a 10 year exclusive deal for every March Madness Game, if you add them up, as well as the NCAA tournament. DOWN WITH GM/HUGHES/XM!!!
  9. Actually the CEO for XM was on CNBS this morning and when asked that question he said they would not buy Sirius because he feels they will win the subscriber battle due to "superior programming", lets analyze this..They have NHL and MLB for sports. Sirius has 75% of College Football, 75% of College Basketball as well as the NCAA tournament- ALL GAMES, NFL, NBA. Sirius has more live events in their studios and sign big name acts..
  10. They are overpriced. You want bass? Get the THX Ultra 2 sub/amp combo, not that ugly SVS crap. If you want bass, without taking up all the space you oweit to yourself to demo a Definitive Supercube Referrence, at 1800.00, it will smoke anything in the price range.
  11. Sirius, hands down. Othern than the sports programming, Like NBA, and NFL. I am all for Sirius. They are the only private company in the NASA hall of fame, becuase they built and engineered their own satellites. They dont use cellular repeaters for their signal. and most inportantly XM is owned by Delphi, who is owned by GM!!! They are too big and too slow with their programming. And GM will be the death to us all. If you havent notice, VW, Porsche, Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Land Rover, Volvo,Jaguar, Mercedes, BMW all do Sirius. GO WITH THE BIG DOG!
  12. I would pick it up, as long as it is from an authorized dealer...
  13. Also the point of these things are to have a warranty to cover things that may be damaged, So for GODS SAKW SCREW EBAY AND BUY FROM AN AUTHORIZED DEALER
  14. I have to say that anyone who has known people who have had to file a claim on any equipment would know the answer to this question. APC and Belkin are the worst two out of everyone on standing behind their claims. From working in a High End AV store for 5 years, i saw hundreds of people come in to tell the sob story about their line conditioners and power centers blowing and not protecting their equipment. If you want the best deal you should get a Monster HTS3500mkII or Monster HTS2000MKII they are 449.95 and 249.95 rspectively. I had a customer with an HTS1000mkII and His Sony KV40XBR800 got hot by lightning. They had a TV repair place check it out, and they sent a check for the repair. All within one week. I own the AVS2000SS and the HTPS7000SS from Monster and would not get anything else. They are all designed by the world renouned Richard Marsh of Richard Marsh Sound Designs. Not a bunch of know names who make mid level computer equipment. Even APC high end stuff is way overrated.
  15. I am going to completey disagree with eveyone on this post. The Denon receivers with cinema speakers sounds thin, and not full in the midrange. The Onkyo and Kenwoodf are the same. The HK is to mellow and the highs sound partly muted. If you want a fool proof receiver it is the Yamaha RXV-657, at 499.95 retail,. It is the best deal on the market right now. See the last issue of Sound And Vision. I own one and it is awesome!
  16. Where are each of your speakers located? The proper placement for the fronts should be an equilateral triangle to the center seat position, then then center in the middle. The side surrounds should be to the left and right directly pointed at you.(these are supposed to be bipolar according to THX, but you should be ok. Then the rears should be the same as the front. IN an equilateral triangle with you. You will want to make sure that the tweeters are pointed up towards your ear. This will help with any cancellation. if you can email me some pics of your room, i will galdly go over them. I was assistant store manager for 4 years at Ovation Audio/Video in Indiana, and run the THX ULTRA 2 system at home. mikepbrowning@hotmail.com
  17. The dents on the center of the dust cap will not affect the performance of the woofer at all. The use of a dustcap is just that, to shield the voice coil from...Dust and to help with a bit of extra strength for the cone.
  18. The 42's also dont have as much cabinet flex being of aluminum, creating a lower resonant freq. which would turn into audible distortion at decent listening levels. Plus you would love the technical and sales help that a Reference dealer will be able to offer you at that price
  19. The highs will be a bit more open due to the materials in the tweeter, but I think you will be greatly impressed with the 5800's. Great Match
  20. I would get the RCW-5 for the back and move the WDST Rs7's for sides. That was you have a True match. I wont make a huge difference, but the money you save will.!
