  1. Not only have they missed a play, they try and pretend it didn't happen!!
  2. Some great games this weekend!! Is it just me, or are there way more stoppages for TV ads than in years past??? Maybe I am just becoming a curmudgeon....
  3. Lots of good info and comparisons at www.greengluecompany.com. These guys have really done their homework. They do talk quite a bit about channels and clips. Remember that low frequencies are the hardest to soundproof. That is where Greenglue seems to work its magic.
  4. So when you are listening to music, and you move your head from side to side, you should be able to here these anomalies, no?? I tried but for the life of me, I can't discern any differences at all. I think maybe Parrot is right in that our brains are much better than we them credit for at analyzing and filtering out these room induced glitches?? Someone (John Warren?) on another thread was talking about some software that can do this, why can't our brains do it as well or even better??
  5. If you are really serious about this, why not talk to some experts.... like maybe the Russ Berger Design Group. Edit...I messed up the link somehow...www.rbdg.com
  6. I got Blue Jean Cables to make me a set of 1/4 to RCA cables to use from my Merlin to my Crown amp. Works great, no noise.
  7. Darn. I hesitated two minutes too long.[] ...but I'm still interested.[]
  8. I am definately interested. Please e-mail me at ci.gar(AT)lincsat.com
  9. I did find a K55M but would like to have a pair of V's for another project.
  10. A year or two after I bought my khorns, one of the drivers failed and my dealer replaced it with a K55M which what was available at the time. Been running a mismatched pair ever since.
  11. I realize this is a long shot but maybe someone out there has one for sale? Thanks, Garth
  12. So very well said dhtman. I have to say that your listening tastes are very much like my own. Just for clarification, when you say that you like musical instruments to sound "live" or "real", you are referring to studio recordings as opposed to recorded at a live venue, are you not? Personally, with the exception of a few of the "Unplugged" series of recordings, I really don't like live recordings.
  13. My guess as to why khorns sound better in larger rooms is that they have a chance to really open up. Being 100% horn loaded, and being in a 1/8 space (corner), they are able to couple to and control a huge amount of air. Really gives them a "live", room filling sound. Even though they are not at there best in smaller rooms, they are still pretty impressive. Not sure if ceiling height or simply room volume is more important. You might want to pay attention to the first reflection points on your low ceiling and treat these areas somehow. Probably best to use diffusion if possible, absorbtion if necessary. Again, good luck and welcome to the forum!
  14. Nice post Tom. Some good , honest advice there.
  15. I don't know if anyone here has had hands on experience with the spacecouplers. From what I have been able to gather, they work best when coupling a listening or studio area to a larger area. This helps to create a longer and more pleasing semi-reveberant tail to the sound. I do think that you are on the right track. Might be somewhat expensive and or time consuming (if you make your own) to do your whole ceiling with couplers. Maybe you could do a smaller area with couplers and replace some or all of the remaining ceiling tiles with something less absorptive? The general advice seems to be that you can't have to much diffusion in your listening room. Good luck and let us know how things work out for you.
  16. Happy New Year from the Great White North!!!
  17. Nice post sputnik. I am also a 1956 model and yeah....it all rings so true.
  18. Hi Mike The name of the product that you were referring to is the "Space Coupler" made by Auralex.
  19. Good to hear that all is well in Arkansas. Happy Holidays to you all!!
  20. Just curious. Haven't seen him around for some time now.
  21. Hmmm...so if you installed the new panels "recessed flush with the outside dimensions of the cabinet", haven't you reduced the size of the intended final flair by the thickness of the panel??? The way Dean did his avoided this. Maybe not a big deal considering the rave reviews.
  22. Another thing to consider is that with the back completely closed in as with the 60'th, you would no longer be able to tuck them tightly into good corners due to issues with existing baseboards or heat rads etc. When doing this mod, would a bottom not be required as well? Also, the back would have to be attached outside the bassbin as opposed to being inset (flush with the existing woodwork) like with the 60'th model. Don't want to change the size of the final flare.
  23. Hi Mark We need something to chew on here. Any chance you can throw us a bone or two?
  24. Actually, if you get the complete kit from Al, no mods are required. See it all at Al's website. www.alkeng.com
