The Jubilee bass bins are the best sounding Klipsch bass bins I've heard. But I've built bass bins that sound even better, so I know there's plenty of room to advance the state of the art in fully horn-loaded loudspeaker design and construction. I've used my SET amps on the K402 /K69 combo and they sounded much better than the Crowns. Actually I spent the most time evaluating the Jubilees with the EV, a crown on the bass bins and my SETs on the horns and as I've said before, it was very nice sounding and I think overall better than Khorns. Then I get into my critiques of the Jubs and what I like about my simple Khorn system which I won't do again here. I said more positive than negative regarding the Jubilees. I just would do things differently if it were up to me. Obviously a lot of people don't like the Khorn, it seems there are more people modifying them than leaving them stock. But they still stick with them all the same. Greg Greg, What are the power differences between the 2 amps ? I have a MC252 that I could use for the bass and if I wanted to compliment that for the 402's how much power would I need ? I know you can adjust the output of the EV but what would match it so one does not run out of steam before the other ? Thanks -
Do you have any details on how to do this for others...

"Train your ears"... That allways gets me...It's like I'll give you the "best " pair of shoes in the world but they will be the wrong size... When you complain my response will be "train your feet" Speakers like a lot of other things are very subjective... If you like what you hear or see then that is the best... Time for my meds.... (pixie dust and 3 fingers of Bulleit) oh and stir... -

Another thought...... older speakers like various Altecs model 19 VOT etc are 2 way with a very simple network and sound good. I looked on sites for these speakers and read very little on exotic networks. Why is that ? Do they need them ? -

My current setup uses the passive network built from Roy's plans... any thoughts on improving that ???? -

"There is another way to do it. That's by using active equalisation. I suppose there is no reason why the Jubilees can't sound good in any decent sized room - I reckon you still need to give the Jubilees room to breath, just like you should with the mighty Klipschorn. All the room glitches and nodes etc should technically be able to be 'tuned out'. So if you can live with the thought of an active crossover network and the associated electronics inserted into your signal chain, this is not a bad way to go." Could you use a Behringer DEQ 2496 (the RTA part) to accomplish this ?? Also would the Behringer DCX 2496 work in place of the EV ? -
OK Pistols at 10 paces.... Then we tar. feather, then draw and quarter the loser.... on a good day.

Very Interesting.... I have a pair of Jubilees with a passive network Roy's design. Powered by an MC252. They sound good.... they have to after the trouble I went through to get them. I can only compare them to a pair of Bells that have Al's mid range horn and Beymas tweeters, I tried Al's extreme slope networks but they seemed to take away as much as the other two mods gave. ( He took them back with no problem after spending alot of time with me checking ny setup. To be honest as of today if I had heard them side by side I think I would have kept the Belles. The difference does not seem to be worht the money. I just might try active networks... Behringer DCX 2496 seems to do what is needed. I asked someone here if this would work and the answer I got was "it will if it does what it has to do" ??? Clear as mud. I know I will get a lot of flack but that is what I hear. Funny how the Belles are 3 way and not much talk of them needing "time alignment" like the Jubilees. And as far as extreme slope ... tried it and did not like it. I was told..." you must play you music on the quiet side" Enough... I feel much better now.....Let the shooting begin. -

ANY SUGGESTIONS ON BUILDING A SYSTEM???????

Sell the 82's and buy Jubilees -
I have another question / observation .... To anyone that has bought new LPs... Audiophile stuff 180g 200g... I was told visual defects, scuff marks, white bars, light and dark color and some pops and clicks are to be expected .... Is this what youy are finding. When I pay $20 + for an LP I expect it to be perfect.... at least until I play it. Any thoughts ???
-
Nope....I cleaned it on a VPI cleaner. I finished checking out my order and they all had a problem. Aqualung... debris you can feel with your finger as the lp spins Blind Faith... pos Dirt Farmer and Relaxin' (Miles Davis) both have blemishes you can see and hear. One looks like scuff marks the other a white streak on both side in the same place. I think I got seconds... Last week I bought some albums by the foot and got better quality

With pops and clicks.... I just got a "brand new" copy of Auqalung on 200g Vinyl... side 2 end of 1st cut had pops with clicks... cleaning helped very little. I contacted the seller and am waiting for a reply...
