  1. I use the SB live 5.1 in 4 channel mode when listening to music. I only use 5.1 when I play games or watch movies.
  2. For me as a DJ I have to try to keep up. I bye my music from Promo Only. I get there Hitz Radio cd. It comes out once a month. It is normally the top 20 songs of the month. In the last ten years, I can honestly say that there is no new bands that i would listen to over and over. I am hooked on the classics. Just today I listen to Boston's 3rd album Third Stage on vinyl. I am glad that bands that I grew up with are still cranking out the tunes. For example the Stones. Don't get me wrong, there are new bands making good music out there, just not for me to listen to everyday.
  3. I have a radio shack dual cassette deck for now. I use to have a Sansui SC-1300. I am looking for something in the late 70's. Yes I do use my Pioneer RT-707. I would never get ride of that machine. I will eventualy replace my turntable with a Technics 1200 or 1400. You can say I am hooked on the 70's.
  4. I use my LS at home time to time. When I do weddings and parties as a DJ, that's when I really get to enjoy the LaScalas. I have had people say they got better speakers then I do, I just tell to put there money were there mouth is. As far as I amn concern, if you are not using klipsch, your just making noise. I was going to shut down my DJ buisness this year and sell my LSs, but thing have turned around. If all goes well, I will purchhase a second pair of LSs and another Mitsubishi DA-A15 power amp.
  5. I love my 1978 LaScalas with type AA crossovers unmodified.
  6. Im a 1. The only thing i'm missing is a better cassette deck.
  7. In my opinion I would use the L+R out (single mono plug). If you use tape out,you will not have any control over the volume. Sub bass does not need to be in stereo.
  8. I agree on more power than speakers can handle. My LSs are rated for 100 watts each. My Mitsubishi DA-A15 is rated at 150 watts/channel rms and 300 watts/channel peak. This pair have been together since 1978 and never blown anything in the LSs.
  9. I would look at a Mitsubishi DA-P10 pre amp with matching DA-A15 power amp. This is a dual monoral sytem. I have this set up driving my LS. They are available on EBay. This amp is a 150 watts/channel. If you don't need that much power, look at the DA-A10 power amp. It's 100 watts/ channel. I use my amp and LS for DJing and they were bought in 1978. If you look carefully on EBay. You can probably find matching tuner and power meters.
  10. These were once black. They have been oak veneered by my brother.
  11. I agree with you kaiser. I run my LS flat when I do a dance and the bass can hurt.
  12. I have had my lascalas for 4 years aswell. I have no problem with the bass. Nobody has ever complained that there was a lack of bass. I use my LS for djing. I always got good responce from people saying that they never heard music at a dance sound so good.
  13. My brother also has a 707. He is thinking of selling it. I was concidering to bye it, but don't have to now.
  14. Was in a second hand store yesterday and could not believe my eyes. There was a Pioneer RT-707 open reel for sale. I know you probably won't believe me, but I paid only $9.99 for this unit. And yes, it works 100%. Only 1 light out on the forward direction button.
  15. Must sell. Need the room. Dropped price to $1000.00. There is damage to veneer. Have spare roll to be able to repair. They still sound totally awesome. E-Mail me for pictures. classichitz@yahoo.ca.
  16. Now just relax and enjoy them. As loud as you like.
  17. Way to go. You will never bye another brand of speaker again. Nobody makes a nicer looking or better sounding speaker like klipsch. The last time I found a great deal was 3 years ago when I got my parents a pair of boston accustics for 2 bucks at a used clothing store.
  18. If you have the room Lascalas, go for it.My living room is only 12 x 15. Not big enough. As for power, I use a mitsubishi da-a15 dual monarol power amp with matching da-p10. No problem for bass. My amp pushes 150 watts per side. My 1978 lascalas are ratted 100 watts. Unfortunately because of lack of space, I must let my lascalas go. I really don't want to.
  19. I know how you feel. It was the same for me when I bought my brother's la scalas. Unfortunetly I must sell them. No room.
  20. Wanting to sell my la scalas. They are oak veneer. Bought new in 1978 by my brother. he veneered them about 20 years ago. I purchased them for djing about 4 years ago. There is damage to the veneer from being moved around. I have decided not to use them anymore. To heavy to handle. The only amp to drive them is my da-a15 mitsubishi with its matching pre da-p10. I live in Northern Ontario Canada. Byer must take care of shipping. I am asking $1200 cdn.or best offer for them. this offer is only available to Canada and the US. E-Mail me for more pictures at classichitz@yahoo.ca. They have type AA crossover.
  21. Well I don't use my la scalas at home. No room big enough. When I dj with them, I run flat. No tone controls, no EQ. I run from my mixer into my da-a15 mits, into the la scalas. No tone adjustment ever needed.
  22. Not the oldest, but I have a a pair of 1978 la scalas.
  23. I do the same thing. Can't wait to build my sound room next year. Just me and my lascalas.
  24. After all is said and done. There is something about vinyl that cd will ever be able to reproduce. If givin a choice of an album or cd from an artist. I would always choose to by vinyl. I have about 500 albums and I will never depart with them.
