  1. Great score!! I told you the deals will, and eventually, do come.
  2. I'm betting a "Regret to inform you" letter will soon be in e-mail. If not, I just got 2000 also!! Also, isn't there a difference between the -r and +r's?
  3. Magnetic grills sound more like KG5.5's than KLF20's. Either way, $290 is a good price.
  4. How do these compare with my $999(new) Pioneer DV47A? It can't be as good, can it? Seriously though. What's the diff?
  5. Another great jazz trumpeter to consider is Clifford Brown. While not a heroine or alcohol addict, he still put out some fine music. Unfortunately, I don't have any of his "records" on vinyl, only CD.
  6. Anyone else have a problem with disc 1? I tried the disc in 4 different dvd players and chapter 26 keeps freezing.
  7. Hey Keith, The only storm that was a pain to us here was Frances. We went without power for around 4 hours. I'm grateful that's all we were out. A lot lost some and some lost all, so I feel very fortunate. Still looking for that 2 channel nirvana. I want that tube sound I get from the Scott 299C with the sheer balls of the Onkyo M504. There's got to be something out there.
  8. Do a search for a member named Mike Lindsey and shoot him an e-mail. He had both at the same time and used one pair for mains and one for surrounds, but I don't remember which he used as mains and why.

    receiver

I have a DSP-A1, which was their flagship a few years back, and it sounds wonderful with my Klipsch. I think when you're talking flagship receivers, all the manufactuers(Yamaha, Denon, Onkyo, Marantz) have equally high end gear. Some might have a bell while others have a whistle, but they are equally good. Looks like that new Yammy has some really good video stuff. The others won't be to far behind.
  10. Yamaha and Klipsch mix just fine. Both my RXV2095 and DSP-A1 were wonderful with my KLF30's and Cornwalls. I thought they both sounded better than the Denon 3600DTS that is currently in my daughters room. Only reason I got rid of the Yamaha 2095 is because I went with separates. The DSP-A1 came later for the bedroom system but has a really fine amp section, as do many of the upper end Yamaha models.
  11. Type C's in an Isuzu Trooper works too. On sides facing each other.
  12. Spend the $60 from e-bay and get an HK430 twin power and buy beer with the remainder.
  13. Speaking of music stores, now there's is a Sam Ash music store where the Clearwater Kapok Tree Restaurant stood. Acutally, it's still the same building but just a huge music store. The median age in Tampa has been getting a lot younger over the years. The older folk are moving down toward Venice and Naples. Home prices have skyrocketed over the last 15 years here but are more reasonable the further south or north you go. My 77K house in St. Pete I bought 8 years ago is valued at over 150K now. The place is changing, but I don't think for the better. Mid seventies you could still drive down St. Pete Beach and actually see BEACH!!! It had mom & pop motels and the Hurricane Resaurant had $2.00 grouper sandwiches. Now it's condo's and $12 grouper. (and I paid $400 for khorns)
  14. "Tampa FL ( sorry to offend anyone) is known as cheap is good..cheaper even better." What kind of crap is that?? Come on Indy! Ever heard the term stereotyping?? Either you've never been to Tampa or you spent your time here in a trailer park. There are very elite stereo shops (as well as homes) in the area but unfortunately, don't carry much in the way of Klipsch. Did you happen to see those Khorns recently in Tampa from an Estate sale on e-bay? They were certainly nice. Can't really say cheaper is better there. So let's get the facts straight and don't be offensive with a disclaimer. (not meant to offend)
  15. I'd vote on the Parasound, though I've never listened to an Audiosource before. My Parasound 2205 sounds really nice the the Cornwalls. I also have a Adcom GFA555 and it is a little harsh. I do agree that you should be considering more than just those 3 amps. Is shipping that much more expensive to Hawaii? Is that why choice is limited?
  16. I haven't heard the 1980 yet, but soon I hope. I have an sx1000tw that a friend gave to me and like the way it sounds. I think the 1000 is from 70 or 71 because he purchased it over in Viet Nam right before he came back to the states.
  17. Anyone heard this one before? Looks like a real beast. Kinda overkill @270wpc, but really nice. Just wondering what your impressions are of this.
  18. Thanks for the link bassetized. Andy, I know you have a lot going on now, but I sure hope you check this thread. I used the Rat Shak cleaner and worked with the control for around an hour. It moves pretty easily though there are a couple of bumps in the movement. I'll keep working it hopefully till the bumps are gone or my fingerprints rub off. When the balance is all the way to the right, the right channel is quieter than the left. The highs don't sound as detailed and generally sounds like someone threw a blanket over the speaker. I'm almost wondering if that's what it sounds like when it looses it's twin power and is relying on just 1 amp?? The right channel will get plenty loud but it is noticably quieter than the left at any given volume. Maybe I'll have to find another and use this one as parts. The wood case does give it some class.
  19. Good luck, Andy. I have a friend in El Paso right now that has to finish up his year obligation. He had been in Iraq for around 7 months until he got shipped back because of kidney stones, so keep hydrated. Keep in touch too.
  20. The control was loose yesterday when I picked the unit up and since then has become difficult to even move. When you move the balance, it will decrease the volume from one channel to catch up with the other(I know, Duh). But what I'm saying is that now that the channels are balanced, they aren't as loud as when the balance was flipped over to just the left channel. I will stop by Rat Shak and pick up some cleaner and compressed air, but what are the chances the balance pot is trashed?
  21. I should have remembered that Andy had posted it. I sis a search, though I was looking for the 930 in particular. I found it when I chaned search criteria to the 430. The link is www.3.sympatico.ca/dan300/hk/ , however, it doesn't seem to work anymore. Anyone have an idea who might be able to fix these things. I found one close by and won it off e-bay for $74. It plays OK but the balance control is bad.
  22. I think it has the manuals, but I thought there was more to it. I could have sworn there was links to parts, repairs, and a for sale section.
  23. Anyone have the link to the HK Twin Powered Receiver site? I kind of remember it from a couple of years ago and forgot who posted it. Thanks.
  24. I have a Parasound 2205AT for the theater. It is an incredible amp, very smooth, and runs a lot cooler than the B&K. I tested the B&K 7250 for a month and it was also a very nice amp, but the Parasound has a little more balls. The B&K can be used as a space heater in the winter time though .
  25. I have a GFA555 that I currently bridge mono for my SVS sub. I tested it with my Klipschorns for a few days and I really didn't like the sound. It was harsh in the highs and mids though the lows were very strong. The pre-amp I tested it with is my SS Onkyo Grand Integra P308 which is a very nice pre, at least to me. I'm sure the Adcoms would sound nice with different speakers as I have read numerous reviews touting their excellent sound and performance at a budget price, but I wouldn't use this 555 I have with any Klipsch speakers.
