  1. I read somewhere that the effect of the bypass cap depended upon the ratio between it and the total value.
  2. Rigma, What drivers are you using in your bass bin? I quickly scanned the post and didn't see any mention of which woofers you were going to use. Checked out the website, and its looking pretty nice. I am thinking of building a pair of those instead of Khorns, but as of yet am undecided. Nice woodworking skills, I'm sure they'll be nice when they are done. Nice MC in the backround, looks like the clone to mine, only a few years newer though. Mine is a 2000 model though, I love it. Rides decent, has a little get-up and go, and better yet gets between 28-30mpg on the highway Good luck in your project
  3. Bob, You're great, I wasn't sure about the sqawker, but I didn't think it was a K-55. Thanks for the info and prompt reply
  4. I found the schematic, any input on the drivers would be helpful.
  5. Got off the phone with my cousin and he's thinking of rebuilding the crossovers in his Cornwalls. Was curious to how much difference there was between the B and the B-3? Also do they use the same drivers?
  6. I am using my sony CD player with it right now, have it plugged into the tape jacks. I have to dig out my old turntable, its in a box somewhere. Moved almost a year ago and still don't have everything unpacked yet. Haven't jumped into replacing capacitors yet, was just so excited when the mailman showed up with my 12au7(s). Threw them all in and hooked it back up. I threw in my female mix and have been enjoying it all afternoon. Just threw in some other various artist, I've Got A Feeling off of Let It Be sounds awesome. I think the tubes do a better job of reproducing guitars that are going through reverb pedal. I could go on all day, but have some chores to finish up......
  7. I have a friend in Cleveland that may be interested. Could you PM me your phone number.
  8. I'd take Cal up on his offer to go listen to his CWII(s), I think once you hear them, you'll be convinced. From what I've seen on EPAY you are in a good spot to pick up some decent used speakers. Don't let us tell you what to get, let your ears.
  9. Finally got all new tubes in the old tube amp. Bought a matched quad of JJ Tesla el84, and a matched set of NOS Amperex 12au7 tubes. Dusted off the old amp and threw them in and put my girl, Norah Jones in to give a listen. Sweetness. Sounds much better than before. Not even the slightest hum, crystal clear. The sound stage is so revealing it sounds like she is about 10 feet away and singing her heart out to me, []. Now the delimma, should I think of seperating the control unit, make it a stand alone amp, or start replacing tubes in it too?
  10. The outside surface of the k400 is smooth, offering no reinforcement against lateral waves. The k401 appears to have braces molded into the outside of the horn, which would offer stability against said waves. Also being of a material that is lighter than the predecessor, wouldn't this make any waves that could be created less noticeable. I think with these two improvements that the k401 would be a better horn if this was a huge problem. I have often wondered if this was driver dependent, K-55-V vs. K-55-M? From what I've read the K-55-V has a tendency to have a notch, if you will, at around 9500Hz. Could this be the culpret causing the ringing?
  11. I think he must be trying to salvage enough of his investment so that he can buy another set of Khorns...
  12. What finish are they, where at in VA? Any pictures?
  13. There are a pair of Chorus in Phily that are making me contemplate a road trip. The cabinets looks pretty battered but, with some veneer or new boxes to throw them in, I think they would make a nice addition to the basement. []
  14. How about Sarah McLachlin.........................?
  15. I was going to go look at them this weekend, but a few things have popped up. I need these like another hole in the head, so I am going to let him sit on them for another week or two and see if he will come down some. May be a crazy thing to do, but I am running out of room for speakers[]
  16. I used super glue on mine, just have to make sure you get them where you want them.
  17. Found a set of what was advertised as Chorus, called to check on them, and they turned out to be Quartet. He says they are finished in oak, and are in pristine condition. Any idea of what they are worth? I've seen these go on ebay in fair shape from 150-250, so I was wondering if $500 was out of the park?
  18. If your cheapie friend decides to jump on the blose wagon with his Dr. friend hopefully we'll see these reappear here in the near future. Put me in line for these, now serving.........
  19. How about a blast from the past, threw in the Eurythmics this a.m. and thought I'd throw Annie Lennox into the mix:)
  20. 1969 Z28, 302, M-22 with an 8-track tape player[]
  21. And the second helping is just as alive as the first......
  22. Norah Jones doesn't seem to be getting the recognition she deserves.3
