  1. Sub woofer good place to start; Is your NAK 5.1 ? You really should be 5.1 for movies or concerts. If for some reason you don't like it (5.1), you can switch it off, and listen to 2 channel. It took me over a year before I used mine at first, I didn't like it right away, now I won't be without it. For music, I turn off the center channel, like the sound better without it. Quartet speakers seem to be a hard find, so Heresy's might be a good choice to fill out your HT. Keep your eye on the forum, you never know what you'll find here, maybe some Quartets. Always equipment for sale by members, good stuff, good prices, and many members offer good advice. One more thing, your DVD player, they have improved alot over the last few years, and a new one isn't a big cash drain, considering the improvements in them, take a look at them. Bottom line; enjoy what you have now, and don't waste time wondering about what you don't have. Seems like your in pretty good shape equipment wise right now. Enjoy!
  2. Concert nite; Bob Marley and the Wailers; Live at the Rainbow from 1977 New H2's upfront ; old tried and true KG4's in back LIVELY UP YOURSELF!! YAH MON!! Great DVD
  3. w This is a little unfair, I don't think high end is just for the 40 to 60 year olds. There are alot of late20's and 30 year olds fueling that market too! I won't feel bad because I bought a car I always wanted, a pair of speakers I wanted, but didn't need. When you get married the cycle begins,Kids,House, car, kids grow-up, go to college, daughter gets married, you don't have the money for the stuff YOU want, so you wait, and do without.Work, work, work, you gotta pay the bills, buy the food, the clothes, forget what you want, family first. Then one day, the kids are gone, house is paid, and you can start to get the stuff you wanted, What's wrong with that? Alot of younger people make alot more money today than I ever did.I guess all I mean to say is, There are many people to blame High End Stereo on, not just us old(er) guys. I realise my hearings shot, blamed that on Rock n'Roll, the gray thinning hair, blamed the kids for that, the indigestion, blamed that on the wife.Sorry I have to go now and take the Porsche 911 for a ride.
  4. Is there any on the consumer level,or maybe a better question, any that the average guy could afford to buy? Is there any on the open market, or just some for the big companies to own?I really didn't realise such a thing is available. Pretty interesting.
  5. Heresy II's are garbage in my opinion. The cabs are made of Masonite which is like a really hard cardboard. Its a junk product. I certainly hope Klipsch did better with the Series IIIs. I simply cant understand how Americans have come to view plastic, fiberboard, masonite or cardboard as "quality" materials when it comes to products. You are entitled to your opinion, but your facts are a little off the mark. Where do they use masonite on the garbage Heresy II's I just bought? I've looked all over this junk product and can't find it, Did I get cheated? Wow, cardboard cabinets direct from Klipsch, must be pretty light to ship, how about that quality?I should E-mail Klipsch and find out how much more money they need to get, I guess I didn't pay enough. Thanks for the input. I have three pair of Klipsch Heresy II's and the cabinets are made of masonite. Masonit or MFD is garbage when comparred to plywood or int ehcase of very exquisite spekers, real wood. Heresy II's with their plastic horns and and poor quality materials are junk in my opinion but as a seller I'm more than happy to sell them to people who believe that they are quality. Why would a person contact the forum, post a pair of speakers for sale, call other forum members speakers garbage, run the Klipsch name in the ground, and is happy to sell people junk, but your speakers are the best, would you think that anyone here would even give your speakers a thought? If H2's are such garbage, why in the world did you buy 3prs.?You feel no shame selling garbage to people, because your the seller, and people want to buy garbage?Tell you what I'll do, I'll take those other H2's off your hands,$100. for all 3 prs.?That's because I feel bad for you being stuck with 3prs. of H2's. Maybe I could pay alittle more, because shipping cardboard is pretty cheap!!
  6. OH MY: I just saw speaker wire for $4,450. for 2 -20ft cables; High End INDEED. I forgot to mention they had ends on them.
  7. Before I ask this question, Let me say," I don't like vinyl, tics and pops drive me crazy". Now, having made that statement, let me ask this question; Is it, would it be, possible to do a turntable with a laser instead of a cartridge? Wouldn't that stop pops, and tics, and stop rumble and other surface noises? I always had a hard time installing, balancing, and getting a new cartridge installed, big hands, little cartridge.Went to P-mount, didn't like them any better. Is my question a fair one, or just a foolish can't be done idea? I am just asking a question, am not looking to argue about LP's vs CD's, it's just something I have always wondered about. What do you think?
  8. Thebes; Root Boy Slim and the sex change band, Hat's Off to you, you olde devil! It's been years since I've heard anything about Root Boy Slim, many, many years.Got your mood ring on? Great music, funny lines, very different style artist with a sense of humor, nothing like it out there today. Have never seen a CD of the Root, only available on vinyl. Root use to tour the club circuit, but I've not seen or heard anything about him in many moons. If you know about Root Boy, how about Dread Zeppelin? Another off the wall band, Led Zep with a regaee music, pretty good actually. Just had to jump in when I saw the Root Boy mentioned, sorry. To answer your question; I like to play; Red House by Jimi Hendrix, to get me through the low spots. Maybe, it's time for a new chair?
  9. Double thumbs up on the Sub; build your system one step at a time, takes longer but worth it in the end. Watch the forum, always something going on, someone selling something, lots of ideas.

  11. I probably should not have jumped in on this. We both have our views on this subject, but I got the feeling this post was(is) heading towards a "what's better" type discussion, and I don't think that's what it was intended to do. Vinyl people like to listen to Vinyl, and that's great, that's the way it should be. The main point is to LISTEN to the music, what it's pressed on really doesn't matter. Music is the soundtrack of life, doesn't matter how you listen to it, as long as you hear it. Vinyl could be final.
  12. Your carseats are talking to you? Has to be his dashboard, his seats are leather. CD's were made to replace Vinyl, not casette tapes. They used to throw CD's like frisbees, than put them in a player, and play them, industructable, Yeah right. I don't like vinyl, don't own vinyl anymore, nor will I ever buy vinyl again, but that doesn't mean others shouldn't enjoy the world of LP's. Most of the people in the vinyl camp on this forum have such great equipment,(Khorns, Lascala's, Cornwalls, and mega amps, Mac's, Crowns, etc., and WATTS to spare) No wonder LP'S sound so good. Thousands of dollars turntables, hundreds of dollars tonearms, tic and pop suppressers, vinyl should sound good. Record clamps, cleaning machines, alot of money to play OLD technology, that in the end, wears down everytime you use it. In the end, what does it really matter what you listen to? CD's, Vinyl, Tapes, DVD's, it all contains the MUSIC, and the Music is what it is all about, isn't it? So whatever you listen to, ENJOY the music, however you chose to play it. Doesn't anyone remember the quality issues with vinyl? Warped discs, holes not centered, surface noise, prices going higher, quality control levels low? I can't be alone on this. Enjoy your LP's, I'll enjoy my CD's, and we all can enjoy the MUSIC!!!
  13. Want crap? Go to e-spay. The stuff on this forum is generally good product from good people who are part of a hobby not a Business. If there is issues with something, you know about it outfront, not suprised when it arrives at your door.I find the best product on the forum is information, and advice, from knowledgable people, who on the whole, are deeply involved in this addiction,(for the lack of a better word). ASK, and you shall find what your looking for, or atleast, steered in the right direction.
  14. Hard to believe it has been over 30 years since Cream played together on stage. Not many bands can do it as well as they did. The whole music industry has changed alot over 30 years, but Cream has remained true to their roots,Blues, nothing but the Blues.Three totally different guys, different styles, different backgrounds, all locked-in together playing their style of Blue's.Worth the price of the DVD anyday. Just another chapter in Eric Clapton's long, and great career, not bad for an old Yardbird!!
  15. Shouldn't E-bay sort these things out before the item goes up for auction?Klipsch crossovers doesn't make it a Klipsch speaker, does putting black stripes on a white horse make it a Zebra? Think not! Sell, sell, sell, that's e-bay, doesn't matter what's for sale, sell. Hasn't this been on the forum before, about badging homemade speakers as Klipsch? Have to admit, if those are the real pictures of those speakers, he did a nice job on them.
  16. I'm not trying to be a punk, just a grateful old dog, to say,"Thanks". I was pondering buying used speakers, and a little banter back and forth, made me stop and thinkabout what I really wanted to do. He gave me some information, a dealers name, a few e-mails, a couple of calls, and I bought the last set of H2's they, or any dealer in N.Y. state had. H2's in Mahogany, haven't stopped grinning since, for the same price as the one's Klipsch sold on e-spay. His words in the forum helped me, he was the first person to answer my post back in Jan., but he was not the first person I have irrated on the forum, nor will he be the last. I just want to say; Thanks for the help, I really do appreciate it!!
  17. Frzninvt; I know you saw my post, and you don't have to respond, go ahead be stubborn, but Thanks any way.
  18. Jim hang in there it will get better. I realise I'm not an old friend, hopefully I could be a new one. Every day you wake up IS a GOOD day, trust me on this.Life is a big rollercoaster ride, full of ups and downs, some good, some bad, but a rollercoaster none the less. You will get through this, and be a stronger person for it. Hopefully your family will return to you, and you can move on from this. Peace be with you, and do not give up, don't ever give up!
  19. Concert dvd's are much better than Music videos. Music videos are for mtv,and can be watched for free if you have cable. Most music videos are mindless and lip sync, leave it on Mtv. Give me a concert video, real people, playing real instruments, really singing, to a real audience. Guitars, drums, keyboards, voices, NOT a phoney drum beat, computer generated music, noise whatever you want to call it. If you don't like LIVE music, there is nothing I can say that will change your mind. LIVE music tells the truth, anyone can go into a studio, and sound good, but to play it live, and sound good, that's real.Music video's, maybe Jacksonbart is on to something, welcome to the 90's.
  20. Don't want to rain on your parade, BUT I don't think you're going to find Heresy's for $350, or Forte's for $400, especially the Forte's. I searched the New England and N.Y. area and those are really unrealistic prices, maybe from a friend or forum member, not on the open market. I believe there is a pair of Heresy's on the forum for $350. and free shipping. You won't find a better deal than that, but it is a forum member selling them.Forte's are atleast $500. a pair without shipping.Anyway, Good Luck on your search, hope you find what you want. If you want to be different look at those Zebrawood Heresy's, I think they are One of a Kind, and there are pictures still on the forum. I forget what topic they are listed under, but they are still there.
  21. When was the Forte last produced? The Heresy is still part of the Heritage Series being produced today. The Forte is a very nice speaker, as is any Klipsch speaker, but E-spay prices are way to high.$500. on up to land a pair of them, never mind out of this world price to ship those bad boys.I listened to Fortes, liked them, listened to new H2's, bought them. One must be careful buying from e-spay, you get what you pay for. Have you seen those Zebrawood Heresys? Fine looking devils!
  22. First things first; I had the honor of seeing Stevie Ray and Jeff Beck together right before SRV's accident. SRV opened for Beck on that night, and they played together for the encore, WOW! This DVD is a great set: 1982 a good set, but the crowd BOOING turned me off. How can you boo a guitarist like that? How rude is that? 1985 set, super set, much better crowd. I really like this disc, but if you like SRV, get SRV on Austin City Limits, classic performance, again the first set early SRV, almost aliitle afraid of the crowd, then a set a few years latter, and lo and behold, Stevie is in control, hotter than a bowl of Texas Chili.Great show by a GREAT SHOWMAN. Long live the Blues guitar, the Electric Blues Guitar.
  23. OK here's some more DVD's; Led Zeppelin; 2 disc set, great concert footage without the foolish stuff on "the Song Remains the Same". Very early footage of a band on the verge of greatness, On the second disc, there is an acoustic set that is worth the price of set its self. This is the band that set the Heavy Metal/ Hard Rock standard, that has never been surpassed. AC/DC Live at Donnington; AC/DC was never better than this show. This DVD Rocks, Angus Young at his best.Chris Slade on drums, what a drummer, should have kept this guy.Basically this is a greatest hit package, and they play most of them, balls to the wall. This is what they do best, and Boy, they're good. Most of the DVD's are 5.1, DTS, and /or can be played in 2channel, so you have many ways to play them, and enjoy the clean sound, no pops, and ticks, just music.
  24. Welcome to the world of concert DVD's; In most cases I'd rather buy the Dvd's instead of cd's, more bang for your buck.Right now there is so many choices, at prices cheaper than cd's. Here's a few that I really like; the ROLLING STONES; Four flicks, 4 discs, 3 performance disc's, and 1 info disc;3 concerts; The Stones @ Madison Square Garden; as it should be,The Greatest Rock n' Roll band on the Greatest stage in the world. Madison Square Garden the greatest rock venue, if you make it to that stage,You've made it. Good show, gotta love Sheryl Crow,Mick seems to like her. This is an arena show; The Twickenham Stadium show; This is a full blown stadium show. A Greatest Hits package, no stone left unturned. These guys know and understand how to play this size venue.Good song selection, the band is right there, Woody and Keith, are locked together, twin guitars Stones style.; The Olympia theatre show; This is for the Seasoned fan; this IS the Rolling Stones, a R+B band. This is where it started,American blues brought home by the British Invasion, Great songs performed in a club type setting, back to the basics Stones. This is my personal favorite set, good all around dvd, well worth $29.99.(best buy has it on sale for $20.00) Dave Mason Live at the Sunrise; Dave Mason is a great song writer, and a pretty good guitarist. This set contains some Dave classics, along with Traffic classics.Inspired set, a real tight band, and Dave still can get it done. Too bad Dave and Steve Winwood couldn't work out their differences, because after this I want some Traffic. Top notch set by Dave and band THE LAST WALTZ the Band; What can I say about this? Anyone who collects Dvd's Must, I repeat, MUST have this disc. One of the best concerts ever to be captured on film. Top notch, every artist just short of perfect. Not a wasted moment on this one, this is ROCK History, done with class. The BAND, that says it all! The list of good concert DVD's grows everyday. Hope I didn't bore you, this is just my opinion, and I don't want to defend my choices, just putting out some information for people to consider. One last thing before I go; where is the footage of the Allman Brothers Live at the Filmore East, with Duane and Dickie, I know they have it, and I'd like to see it.
