Aaaaaaaah yes... nothing beats having your own theater room!! Very nice!! How far back is the seating? Is it all the way back against the partition? The simple solution would be to move the seating forward a bit, but the back of the chairs may slightly obscure the sound. Ideally, you want to sit roughly 2 screen widths back from the screen while avoiding at all costs.......sitting in the middle of the room. (for acoustic reasons). If you can drill into the slope without causing a leak, you can buy something wall mountable for placement on the sloping walls at the perfect height. If you're going to paint the ceiling, paint it anything but white!! Once those ceiling light reflections are tamed, you'll enjoy the movie experience even more. Since you have a dedicated room, you'll also want to install acoustic room treatments. Enjoy!

My 2 cents..... it's not worth spending $200 for what amounts to a horizontal upgrade to the '10s'. On the other hand, upgrading to the RB-51's or RS-42's would be a worthwhile upgrade. The 51's are the cheaper alternative, and you could probably buy a pair for $275-300. Not quite 200...but not very much more.

My HT is listed in the photo album section, but not yet updated since my latest change. My latest change was the addition of ceiling acoustic treatments. I have a strip of low ductwork that runs the the entire width of the room that served as both a reflective light source, as well as my primary acoustic ceiling reflection point. I fixed two issues with a single simple step:)

That looks fantastic!! My only suggestion is that you should make more panels just like the ones shown...... to hang in the corners for bass trapping purposes. Very well done Tony!!

Since I paid more than $300 for my RC-62, I promise not to make you pay extra for the trade[A] PS.... I take everything I said back. Dewd..... you got royally screwed. Because I am such a wonderful and caring citizen..... I'll take that damaged RC-64 off your hands, and give you my mint RC-62 in trade........since I feel sorry you being taken advantage of in such a harsh way. Ya know.... I'll consider it to be for the greater good in a public service kind of way. I'm willing to do what it takes to right the wrong committed by NEB F.MART!!

Klipsch speakers are obviously better....LOL Would you expect to read anything to the contrary in a forum populated with individuals who chose Klipsch over DTech?

Is the percentage off the MSRP or what they are currently asking for their speakers? I was quoted $490each for the RF-82's. That is basically MSRP pricing. What would be a good price to offer the dealer? It really depends on how hard you're willing to work to save a few $$$. In general, anything in the 20-25% off suggested retail is a very fair price. To get more will take some effort...... I think I paid between $375-$390 each for my RF82s, and that was with very little effort. I might have paid less if I really pushed, but I was happy with the price because I knew it was a fair price.

Ditto that.... I always find that if I say... "I'll buy all these speakers from you today if you sell them to me for $X" ........... works quite well. If not, I'm prepared to walk, but it never comes to that because they want to make the sale today. Being an informed shopper is key!! You should know going in what the suggested retail is...... and what you should expect to pay.

Yeah me too, started at age 4. Play everyday May thru Sept. Well, might miss 2 or 3 days. My record is 21 days in a row. Of course...that was before I had kids...HEHHad it not been for rain...the streak would no doubt have been longer.

Totally agreed.... I managed to haggle the price down to $350 on my RC-62. Needless to say, it helped that I was buying 5 speakers at the time.[] Make no mistake.... the RC52 is a good center speaker and a good choice, but the RC62 is a better mate.And yes... hold off on the receiver upgrade for now. You can afford to wait until after you're "speaker" situated before you upgrade the receiver.

I'd like to congratulate you on your decision to switch to Klipsch.........because you wont be disappointed!! I would however like to add that your current center channel dialog issues are quite possibly tied to room acoustic issues(room reflections). As you build your new HT room, you'll definitely want to research acoustic treatments for your new HT.............. because no HT is complete without!! Even with the most simple of treatment (bass traps in corners, broadband absorption at first reflection points) they will make a dramatic improvement to the sound reproduction inside any sound room. It's impossible to put into words how different a system can sound inside a treated sound room!! With that said, and taking into account your $3,000 budget................. I'd recommend something like what I have because your stated budget matches perfectly for what you're asking.....RF-82 fronts, RC-62 center, and whatever you want for surrounds. I feel these speakers are in the sweet spot for price/performance ratio. Dont get me wrong because the RF-63/83's and RC64 are excellent speakers.....but they cost A LOT more. (probably too much for your listed budget) For only a little more $$$ than the RF62s..... the 82's are a significant step up. To go up further, you'll have to pay a whole lot more!!!! You can pick up two RF82's, a RC-62, and two surround speakers of your choice for about $1700 after tax at a local dealer. (I paid just <$1700 for two RF82s, two RF52s, and a RC62....well within your budget) Unless there is a specific reason you want bookshelf speakers, I recommend the towers. 1.... they're more speaker..... & 2.....by the time you buy sturdy speaker stands for the bookshelf speakers, they'll cost nearly as much or more $$$ anyway!!!! Since your receiver is 5.1(and not old Pro-Logic).... I recommend you hang onto it.... if only for now. You can always upgrade that later!!!!! You'll have enough money leftover to get very capable subwoofer!! You'll have about $1,300 leftover, which will be enough for something along the lines of a SVS PB12/plus2 to provide that wow factor you're looking for during your favorite action movie.... you really need a capable subwoofer, and that sub will do just that!! It will deliver lots of WOW!!!! The key is DONT neglect the room itself, because the room itself plays a very large role in how good your system will sound.... that's my contribution to the "Do's and Don'ts"..... dont neglect the room itself!!

I for one.... Love the game of golf!!!! [H] I didnt take up the game until I was in my mid20s (1992), I bought my first golf membership in 1996.... and I've been logging more than 100+ rounds a year ever since....LOL When the days are long in the summer months, it's not unusual for me to play 4-5 times a week. (even if only to log a quick10-15 holes or however many I can squeeze in before dark)

LOL....You should be a good nephew and help your uncle customize his guide to eliminate all the unnecessary channels he'll never watch[]Once you delete all the crap channels he'll never use, he'll find channel surfing much easier.

I've watched very little regular TV over the past many, many years... well........... that is until I entered the world of HD-DVR-land!!! [H] Most of what I watch is HD programming. Some of my favorite HD-local network shows in no particular order.............. Ghost Whisperer, Supernatural, Smallville, Lost, Medium, & Hero's. (not to mention sporting events!!) PGA Golf and NASCAR are the two main summer events that I follow. Battle Star Gallactica, American Choppers, Stargate Atlantis, mixed martial arts fighting, & Rides are among my favorites on the HD cable channels. In fact, I'm more of a TV junky than ever before......[8-|] There is definitely something that can be said for watching tv at your on convenience.....and skipping the commercials!! About the only low-def programming I watch is some cable news, Pride and UFC fighting, and the Golf Channel. It's to the point now that I never EVER watch live TV. If it's something I really want to watch right away....IE... like Buckeye football.... I'll wait for awhile and watch it on a delay so I can skip commercials.

It shows in his description that he's not using composite 2-channel cables/connection ports in his setup. What you say is true though...... if he wasn't connecting through a multi-channel input, it would be a little difficult to play multi-channel audio:) (neigher 5.1 DD or DTS would work) In his case, he's trying to figure out how to bypass the default DD 5.1 soundtrack. PS.... It's not so much about the cable, but how you connect. For example, you can take a single decades old composite RCA cable and connect your DVD player to your receiver by using the multi-channel digital coax port, and it will play multi-channel & DTS signals perfectly well. Providing it's a quality made cable, it will provide every bit as much quality multi-channel sound as a brand spanking new THX rated d-coax of today.

To play a movie in DTS, you need to go to the DVD setup menu on the DVD itself, and manually select the DTS sountrack from the list of choices. On the DVD startup menu, go to where it says "Audio Setup or Languages", and choose DTS. If you dont, the DVD audio will default to DD.PS... you also need to make sure you go into the DVD player setup menu to activate DTS. You only need to do this one time during initial setup.
