  1. Guy, What was the shipping on the horns? Had to be close to an arm and a leg.
  2. I have to weigh in on this one. A RPTV is built differently than a normal TV. It doesn't have the large coils on a Cathode Ray Tube (CRT)that a normal TV has. You should be able to set the Forte II pretty close to the RPTV, but be sure to "Toe In" the speakers for a better listening area. I would have the Forte IIs flush with the front of the RPTV to avoid the sound bouncing off the side of the TV.
  3. You didn't mention what they cost. It appears that with the cost of the horns and for a few dollars worth of plywood and $100.00 or so for a woofer replacement you'd have a set of horns. If you sell your La Scalas the price difference wouldn't be too bad. Personally I'd go for them. I ran across what I think is a great deal myself. I bought a pair of 1990 KCBR horns new on May 14, 1990 for a total of $2600.00 (at Custom Audio in Little Rock). My brother-in-law saw them during a trip to my place and was instantly converted to a Klipsch fan. He said that he'd buy them if I ever wanted to sell them. In the meantime ('96), I helped him with purchasing his Forte IIs, Academy and 2.2s along with the Klipsch 300 sub, a really good system for Dolby Pro-Logic. Well, a month ago I was turned on to a set of KBWO 1979 Kornerhorns with a matching Belle WO, for $2500.00 just what I had been wanting since I purchased my KCBRs new in '90 for $2500.00!!! Anyway, I called up my Bro-in-Law, sold him my KCBRs and bought the Walnuts! Believe it or not all three units will fit into a Dodge Caravan with the passenger seats removed. Moral of the story is... Get what you can when you can get it!!!! He who hesitates is lost!!! Happy Listening! A second thought, sell just one of your La Scalas and keep the other for a center channel, you won't regret it, I promise, The La Scala is even a better match as a center than the Belle, It has the same Mid horn that the Kornerhorn has. There are people out there looking for singe La Scalas.
  4. NOZ, I've got three K-77Ms that work and am ready to part with. Guaranteed to your satisfaction or your money back! Jim
  5. To the Klipsch BB members ... Merry Christmas Everyone!!!!
  6. Chris, Any chance of you reposting your before and after pick of the Kornerhorns??? Thanks
  7. We all know what side you're fighting on...
  8. Ranger, Once again, nice picture, right on target!! Its evident that deang hasn't seen some of kain's rantings about the 9/11 attacks, or he wouldn't be asking you to remove the picture. The rag head just might grow up to use his daddy's money to finance a future attack, as I suspect that he hasn't the balls to do anything like that himself.
  9. 1) Their design and of course the little bit of soul that Paul put into it. 2) Paul had an equation of 27'wide, 17' deep and 10' height for the perfect room. It was based on the "Golden Means Ratio". The diagonal of this room would be 32' which would allow the full propagation of a 32hz sound pressure wave. Kornerhorns would be placed along the long wall. 3) $7500.00 msrp.
  10. Al, Which woofer would you suggest as a replacement for the K-33-E used in an original Cornwall?, besides another K-33-E that is...
  11. Hey Cornwalled! Thanks for the opportunity to pick up your Cornwalls!!! Got them home Friday (round trip was 425 mi, hooked 'em up and they sound great! A/B'd them with the Forte II and there really isn't any comaprison. Even my wife agreed that they sound better!, though she is getting a bit pissed at my hobby. Am going to try to rehab the cabinets, they were raw birch so I will sand and smooth out the rough spots (lots of them) and apply a good birch or oak veneer to see how they look before building new cabinets (even though the Cornwall birch cabinets appear to be all butt jointed with no routing). My son Matthew just loves them! He is only eight but has the wisdom of his old man. He saw how rough the cabinets were but when he heard them he said "you can't judge a book by it's cover Dad!", how true!!! He already is beginning to see the heritage of quality and value in the Klipsch products I have. I keep telling him that all of this stuff will be his, after I'm gone, that is!!! The only draw back is that one of the woofers is not a K-33-E and I would like to be able to pick one up, just to make everything original. Do any of the "Heritage Gang" who frequest these pages have an extra K-33-E woofer that they would be willing to part with? If so, please let me know! Thanks Cornwalled!!! Jim
  12. Cornwalled: I would be glad to buy your Cornwalls! I sent you a message last night but I quess it didn't make it. I'll send you $375.00 cash and will pick them up @ your place or anywhere you'd like. Please give me a call @ 304-262-6254. Thanks!! Jim McClung
  13. Hate to say this but we all need to keep the above pictures in our head and be vigilant always! This message has been edited by The Hobbit on 09-25-2002 at 12:52 PM

    SVS Placement

Per Trey Cannon: The Klipschorn, La Scala & Belle are made of plywood not MDF, that includes the 2002 model years! This message has been edited by The Hobbit on 09-22-2002 at 10:00 AM
  18. I see that the ******* is still showing up. I guess that a call to klipsch HQ might get his account deleted.
  19. As a Veteran who was in the Army for 6 1/2 years, (not to mention a Klipsch Heritage owner) I would like to request that the WebMaster pull this POS's (KAIN64)access. I know he can sneak back on but I'd like to see him GONE! I'm all for freedom of the press but I don't have to read some *******'s comments about my country, especially someone who is hiding behind his daddy's skirt! ------------------ Jim McClung
  20. Per one of PWK's own technical papers the "ideal" room for the horns would be to place them along the long side of a room 27'X16'X10'. This allows the Khorn to produce a 32hz wave down the diagonal of the room. He recommended a "Center Channel" in the center of the wall to fill in. Can't remember the Tech Paper title but it was written in the 50's. ------------------ Jim McClung
  21. K-horns are still 1/2" plywood. They have not went to MDF. The Belle and La Scala are still 1/2" plywood too. Chorus, Forte, Quartets plus all of the other lines are MDF with veneer. ------------------ Jim McClung This message has been edited by The Hobbit on 09-10-2002 at 10:52 AM

    SVS or M&K

I've haaad an M&K 200 for a couple of years and run it with my Kornerhorns. Of course it can't meet the 124 db level of the Kornerhorns but I never play the horns that loud anyway. The M&K 200 mates very well with the horns and keeps up very well at loud enuf for me levels. The M&K 125 is a close brother to the 200. It uses about the same cabinet size but a smaller power amp, they both use 2 12" woofers (both active) but I think that the model # of the woofers is different. I'd consider it a good buy. To each his own. ------------------ Jim McClung
  23. I had one of these!!!! Very Heavy Indeed. Very large transformer, large caps and seperate power transistors (four per side) mounted on the rear external heat sink. Has 125 WPC. Has a built in Dolby B noise reduction circuit(defeatable). It was built like a brick _hithouse, took a lickin' and kept on tickin'. I sold it for a song a few years ago, Wish I'd a kept it... The new units just don't compare. Get it while you can... ------------------ Jim McClung
