  1. Thanks for the replies fellas. Synthfreek, that is unfortunate that there hasn't been more response but if I get turned on to a handful of good bands, I'll be happy. I love Built to Spill and have their entire discography but will definitely check out The Aeroplane Over the Sea. Austin is a cool city, btw. Great music scene for sure.
  2. OK, the idea here is to recommend a good band or album that maybe not everyone has heard of. I've found a few new great bands, so I'll start. 'Band of Horses' is a great indie rock band. Guitar-driven rock with country/southern rock influences. Great songwriting and spacy vocals. I saw these guys on Letterman and liked them alot, so I bought 'Everything All the Time' and it has not left my rotation. I also went to see them in Charleston, SC and it was a great, great show. I would describe thes guys as a combo of Neil Young, My Morning Jacket, and Built to Spill. Check out videos. Click the link and click 'Media' on the top of the page. http://www.bandofhorses.com Enjoy.
  3. I'm with Dtel on the Cornwalls. I'll add Forte to the list. Best speaker value possible in my experience.
  4. They are pretty sweet. A lot more power than I expected and I haven't taken them off triode yet.
  5. Are you kidding me? 'A History of Violence' is a great movie. If you hated it, don't see 'Eastern Promises' because it's even better. I would love to take your generous offer, but I already have it.
  6. What is the difference between an Altec 902-8B versus a 902-8T? Thanks.
  7. Mr. Boras and his client are both turds. Unfortunately, they are both the best at what they do.
  8. My son Dylan has Guitar Hero 1,2 and 3. When he's not playing his real Strat he's on Guitar Hero. You ought to come down sometime and challenge him to a duel. Beware though, my wife says he can play every song on all three versions at the highest level. It sounds like I may need to practice a bit. It is even more fun blasting through my Bluesboy Big Horns. The South Park thing is pretty funny: http://youtube.com/watch?v=Gn7w_uaGh1o
  9. I would say that is a good deal. I don't know much about that model but they look big, bad, and bullet proof. I'm sure they sound awesome.
  10. Anyone else addicted to this game? I just bought it a few days ago and am completely hooked. Quite possibly the coolest video game ever (I'm not a hardcore gamer but couldn't pass it up for my kids' Wii).
  11. Ah yes, the game sounded wonderful on my horns and looked great on my Panny HD projector. Very nice indeed.
  12. That game was awesome for my fantasy football team. I had Carson Palmer, Chad Johnson, Braylon Edwards, and Kellen Winslow. I set my league record for single game scoring on my birthday. How sweet is that?
  13. Just curious and not being critical, but you are very clear in the Klipsch speakers that you don't like. What do you like?
  14. Wow, cool story. The thing that amazed me was the fact that 10 people bid $500,000 for this bottle of beer.
  15. I played today at Tobacco Road in Sanford, NC. Crazy Mike Strantz track. It was 103 degress but I promised to take my Applications Engineer who was down from New England working with me. I played unbelievably well on the front side and now my AE thinks I play every day.
  16. My take is that: (1) The police won't do anything for under 5K, maybe 10. I say that because I've been there - 1,500 with all the proof you could ever need in a court of law. Receipts, address, phone numer. The local police would not do as much as dial his number. Unbelievable, I know. Believe it. (2) We are typically not tough guys on this forum with maybe a couple of exceptions. We are audio geeks. I for one will not put myself in harms way for a few hundred bucks. (3) Scumbags like this will eventually get theirs. Just like a casino - house will eventually win. Sorry for all involved.
  17. Caledonia is one of my favorite (if not favorite) tracks in Myrtle. I have always loved Mike Strantz courses, even though he only did just a few. Stonehouse and Royal New Kent in Virginia are 2 other outstanding courses Mide designed. He definitely left us too early. Mike I agree completely. Strantz was one of the few architects with some real imagination. Caledonia is a gem and True Blue is just as great although a little tougher test. I have yet to play the Virgina courses (they are on my list) but have also played a private course in the Charleston, SC area called Bull's Bay and another NC course called Tot Hill Farm which is cool too.
  18. I have it hooked up and it is great!! I think I like it better than my kids. I'm hooked on Golf, Tennis, and Baseball.
  19. If anyone gets down to play golf in Pinehurst, you must check out this course. It is absolutely crazy and as fun as it gets. I am playing it on Thursday and can't wait. The architect of this one did two of the best courses in Myrtle Beach, Caledonia and True Blue. Check out the photo gallery at the top of the page. It's an absolute must play. http://www.tobaccoroadgolf.com/
  20. That's exactly how I got mine too. I went to Best Buy and there were none on the shelf but I asked and they had a few in the back that they had just gotten in.
  21. I bought a Wii for my son's birthday present. He gets it Sunday and I can't freakin wait!!
  22. I play about 40 to 50 rounds per year in North Carolina and carry a 6 handicap. Good golf in the Carolinas with Pinehurst and the coastal area (Myrtle Beach, Kiawah, etc.).
