  1. What I so eloquently described previously!@#$%% was meant to refer to the above part. If the speaker cables were attached to the speaker and then attached to the male end of the above part, couldn't you then bring the speaker wires from the amp down to the female end of that part. You could then choose which one to plug in based on which amp you wanted to use. You could place this somewhere convienient in order to switch out the amps. I suppose you would not want a tube amp to be running while it was unplugged, but otherwise, would be simple and cheap. Paul
  2. As a gynecologist, I do highly recommend that you request a liberal amount of KY during the colteroscopy procedure....[] Paul
  3. Cambridge Audio has one that is used in conjunction with the 640, which is highly regarded. Don't know a ton about it, but it has had good reviews. Paul
  4. Pretty much so. I do give them the option of tying the boy or the girl tube...[] Actually had a pt. ask me to tie off the girl tube only once. Same one wanted a fraternity test to see who that daddy was...[*-)] I thought, you want to know who your brother is, or is the brother possibly the father? Man, I feel an Arkansas joke coming on here, but in deference to all that is wonderfully made in Arkansas, I will hold out. [6] Of course, I was in Oklahoma when that happened, so, coulda been suspicious like...[] Paul
  5. Another idea possibly it to do this: Have speaker wires running from speakers to a device ( I know RS has one ) that is essentially a kit to build a new speaker with. It recieves banana plugs as though it were mounted to the back of a speaker. On the other side, it would have the speaker wires attached going to the speaker itself. This little thing could then be attached or at least nearby the amps. The speaker wires coming from the amps themselves that are terminated in banana plugs, could then be plugged into the female part of this thingamabob. You would then only have to plug whichever amp you were wanting to listen to at that moment. Would at least be easier than reaching around the back of the amps themselves each time. Hope that was thouroghly confusing. Paul
  6. Coyotee, let me get this right, you have a standing offer to buy everyone this dvd and see if we like it? Sounds good. Paul
  7. Congrats on the speakers. Sounds like you enjoy getting speakers for your sons also. It is a lot of fun to have a hobby in common with the kids... Just got a set of Heresy's set up in my son's room. We enjoy hanging out in there and listening... Paul
  8. We bought my son's Heresy's on ebay, it took him over month and a half to send them, we had overnighted the payment. Made me upset, but I figured if I ticked him off too much, they may not be packed well, or even sent at all. If he decided to not send them, what do you do next... Frustrating... But they finally got here in great shape and sound great... Tough to wait though. Paul
  9. Seeing that announcement, hit me, my last name is also Redman, no relation. RIP
  10. I just won some copper ic's on Audiogon, will have to see what if any difference they make. We'll see, I kinda just wanted to dip the ole toe in the water and see, but didn't feel like spending a ton of dough on something that may not make a difference at all. Paul
  11. dtel, was it six weeks that it took yours to come in? Paul
  12. I've been using Platinum wire with diamond encrusted posts, looks great![] Actually, I used to use small guage lamp cord. Upgraded to thicker guage from RS, it did make a big difference, the old stuff was too small. Never tried high dollar stuff...[*-)] BTW, Radio Shack is having a really good clearance on speaker cables of a good guage (not listed, but it looks nice and thick!), for 9.99 for I think 25 or 50 foot lengths. Used to be 40 bucks I think, I am going to get some more of that as I am adding speakers to hook up. Paul
  13. The tweeter and squaker are mounted "sideways" on that speaker. Were they all made that way then, or was this one made to be placed on its "side"? If so, it might make it easier to place on the side and then use in the center space. Paul
  14. There is a good explanation on the KlipschCorner site about dialing in a sub. Look and see if it helps. Paul
  15. Sent another email thru here, will see if that one goes thru. Basically, I was wondering, not about bikes at the moment, but: I recently gave my Yammy reciever to my son. My new pre does not have a phono pre built in. I was needing to get one and was wondering what you thought about tubed pre vs ss pre for the phono part. Also wondering if you had any suggestions in those regards in general. You had also said that you might have some used TT for sale in the past, and was wondering if you also had any used Pre's for sale also. Let me know if you didn't get the email, but that was the general question. Thanks, Paul
  16. What is an isolation transformer? How is it used? What is that ground that Dr Who is showing?, How would it work? Paul
  17. Scott, glad you chimed in, I sent you over an email, I was wondering if you had suggestions on phone preamps. Paul
  18. Who around here spends more time looking at the forum and discussing subtle nuances of , well, whatever, than they do actually listening to their system. Gotta get me a laptop..... Paul
  19. Clarence, MLH does love bikes too. He has outgrown his last one and has inherited my mountain bike. He likes riding in the trails behind our house. The Cannondale we are getting is the Synapse Alloy version, it is last years model and on sale for 950, usually around 1100. They make an all carbonfiber version also, it gets into the 3000-4000 range. But I am hardly a professional, and saving a few ounces vs saving a few thousand bucks isn't that important to me. Paul
  20. Nice bike. My wife and I are going to our bike shop in the am to put a down payment on new bikes. We are going with the Cannondale Synapse model. Will have to figure out some way to post a pic with it once they come in. BTW, the amp is sounding SWEET!!!!!!!1 PAUL
  21. I've got a cheapo Samsung universal player, but I really enjoy SACD and DVD-A much better. Probably because the cd playback on it less than steller. The Sony is essentially a universal player, minus the DVD-A. It repeatedly gets compared to stand alone cd players with good reputations. Is it just about the only cd, dvd, sacd, etc. player that can "run with the big boy cd players?'[8-)] Is it true to say that most dvd players don't make as good of cd players?[*-)] Paul
  22. He apparently only recieved a mild concusion from the injury... Lucky it was not worse. Any idea how fast a ball is travelling after being hit? Paul
  23. COUNSELOR OF INEBRIATED OPERATION OF MOTORED AND WHEELED DEVICES: AKA DWI LAWTER. THIS IS THE SAME EXACT DUDE THAT I BOUGHT MY SONS HERESY'S FROM LAST MONTH!!!! I GOT THEM FOR MID 500'S IT SEEMED. WE WERE CAUGHT UP IN THE RUSH OF THE BUY ON EBAY. INTERESTING THAT HE HAS SOME MORE H2'S FOR SALE SO SOON, THEY DON'T LOOK EXACTLY LIKE THE ONES WE GOT. NOW, WE DID SEND HIM THE MONEY: YES, I KNOW, VERY RISKY...[] HE DID SEND THE SPEAKERS, THEY ARE IN GREAT SHAPE, SOUND WONDERFUL, ETC.[] BUT, THE ONLY GRIPE THAT I HAVE IS THAT HE WAS HIDEOUSLY SLOW ON THE SHIPPING, TOOK HIM ABOUT 1.5 MONTHS!!!!!! UNCOOL.....[N] BUT, HE WAS WILLING TO HAVE ME COME DOWN TO PICK THEM UP, I JUST DID NOT HAVE THE TIME OR THE CALL COVERAGE TO DRIVE DOWN THERE. IF YOU WERE ABLE TO GO GET THEM, AND PAY UPON RECIEPT OF THE SPEAKERS, I THINK YOU WOULD BE OK. LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU DO... PAUL[]
  24. If you are running the video signal in to the tv using the component video inputs, it could be that your red wire is either loose or messed up. Mine did that in the past, I adjusted that cable around a bit, it stopped. Paul
