have a set i got as a kid back in the early 60s … cars are metal. it’s Lionell …. don’t know the scale but, decent size.

good to know … i did spend five years in Michigan while in the coast guard. we did have crappers on the ship though…and right out of boot camp, i had to clean them.

that’s why i listen at high volume … so i can hear it. I already have “profound” hearing loss in both ears…75% gone on the right side; 50%-60% gone on the left. That was at last years exam…just got a postcard from the specialist saying it’s time for an annual reexam. Kinda afraid to because i suspect that they’re worse. Even with hearing aids in both ears, i’m generally the worst hearer in the group. HOWEVER, the ear specialist told me that it IS NOT from loud music … tissue growth over some bones in middle/inner ear which reduce the vibration thus only a small amount of sound makes it to the eardrum.

time to fess up … do you have a conductor or engineer’s hat? i didn’t have enough room to get too involved … and only used the engine sound and smoke to check it out. We did buy the model buildings of Bedford Falls (love the flick It’s a Wonderful Life) but that was the extent of the set up.

have had a G scale for years … when i had a family, we’d set it up at Christmas and put the tree in the middle. haven’t done that for years; but, still find it relaxing to watch a train.

and sometimes they are … that’s when you really test your friendship with the neighbors.Early 80s i lived a few doors down from this band … they had an open door policy, you could just walk in, no knocking required. one particular evening, the stereo was on -- no live music being played. Not sure where in the house we all were; but, the neighbor (not on the friend list) just walked in and turned it down and walked out.
