  1. Anyone else think that lady looks like Micky Dolenz of the Monkees?
  2. i'd be ascared to eat one that i picked.
  3. Ever since I lost one of my lungs--I've cut my smoking in half.
  4. LUXURY! When I was a kid, my Dad would wake us up at 4:00 a.m. a half-hour before we even went to bed, he'd feed us a lump of dry poison, and make us mow the entire state with a push lawnmower. Try to tell the riding lawnmower forum members that, and they just don't believe me. [apologies to the Monty Python Flying Circus for that on-the-spot adaptation]
  5. why did i hear Pink Floyd music when I read your last post??? i was about to ask you if this was your own personal thread. i do check out the blogs from time-to-time. hope your day goes well.
  6. Thanks everyone for the advice and for sharing your experiences--I guess in this case we can accurately say "I feel your pain." I went back to the doctor and declined an epidural, and also declined a referral to a surgeon. My doctor is really cool and she will sit & listen and allow me to ask as many questions as I have. So, I told her that I wanted to exhaust ALL possible avenues before I would agree to, what i consider, more drastic or invasive stuff (epidurals, surgery). Since my supply of Vicodin (which was given to me in January when I got ran over by the truck) was the same batch that i've been taking recently, she commented that I'm obviously not abusing the pain killers, so she gave me a months worth of vicodin. She also gave me 800mg Motrin to help reverse the inflammation, and i go to physical therapy today. The CT/MRI done in January read just like the ones done in 2006 and 1995, so its pretty obvious that I have the two herniated discs in my neck--the only difference is this time the nerve is involved. I was fearing an EMG test, as I had one years ago and it was the most painful medical test that I've ever experienced. The doctor at the hospital where it was done told me that Joe Montana reported that getting an EMG was also the most painful experience of his life. Perhaps there will be another one in my future; but, right now I'm hoping to get a good physical therapist and that I can get some relief/improvement without surgery or more drugs. thanks again everyone.
  7. i think it's a great idea jim--i know i'd buy some.
  8. Hey Mike, maybe you already thought of this; but, have you passed the word to any military facilities in the corpus area? Having retired from the coast guard, i know several shipmates didn't want to sell their house when they transferred and rented it out. perhaps, someone in corpus is preparing to transfer and planning to rent their house out, or you can convince them to rent it to you and sell years from now. Good Luck. Steve
  9. i'd love to see them pursue this "famous" name slant--they would be so embarrassed to realize how far they are from being famous. of course we forum members know who they are, and I'm guilty of buying there product in the past (never again though); but, i'll bet if you did one of those man in the street interviews, you'd get single-digit results of people that even knew what monster cable is. I'll also bet that three times as many people think of Monster energy drink first, and fenway park, come on--i have no idea how long monster has been in business, but, i'll bet the red sox have been using the term "the green monster" for much longer. i really don't like that company anymore--even though this particular story ended well, they need to get over themselves.
  10. I've always said that surgery would be a very last resort. the amount of pain that i've been in this past week had caused me to rethink that and at times, i had a "I'll do whatever it takes to get rid of this pain" mindset. The pain is literally off the scale and is relentless--and at times, stronger than the vicodin. BUT, i will hang tough and seek every possible (logical) solution out there. I neither want surgery nor living on pain killers. i've had minor surgery before and never used pain killers. when i got ran over, i did use them for my four broken ribs; but, this time--I really wanted something to ease the pain. i'm hoping whatever inflammation is there will subside enough for me to get in physical therapy. right now, my doctor said that with the level of pain that i'm in, i wouldn't be able to do the things that the therapist would want. all i know, it's been over a week and it's getting worse not better.
  11. Same symptoms, some of the same discs involved as me--i'm c3/c4 and c5/c6. i also have strong elbow pain as well as forearm pain extending to the tip of my fingers. i have a doctor's appointment tomorrow, so i guess that will be an interesting meeting. thank you all for the advice.
  12. a friend just suggested acupuncture too. i will try anything at this point--i'd even listen to disco music if that would help (those that know me know that this is an extreme measure). yes, i've had both MRI and CT Scan. The herniation isn't new; but, was not pinching a nerve before now.
  13. I have two herniated discs in my neck. Not sure if getting ran over by that truck in january made it worse, but it seems that one of the discs have slipped more and is now pinching a nerve. the pain in my right shoulder and arm (goes all the way to the hand) is unbearable. i've been taking the left over vicodin from my broken ribs and that does help; but, when the medication wears off the pain comes back stronger than ever. any of you ever have a pinched nerve? does it "unpinch" on it's own? how long does this take to resolve? called my doctor and she called in a prescription for Gabapentin to the pharmacy. she said it was for nerve pain; but, i'm afraid to take it. i have sleep apnea and the pharmacist told me that this medicine could be a problem as it will put me in stage 4 sleep and makes it harder to wake up. not a good thing if i stop breathing--i kinda want my body to wake itself up and not be so doped up that i wake up dead. anyone gone through anything similar?
  14. i read this quote. what does high-frequencies fatiguing mean? I, and most people I have talked to, would say the exact opposite. Klipsch struggles with music content because it's high-frequencies are fatiguing, and far too overextended. There are much better options for music listening, IMO.
  15. well, it IS your money isn't it? Sounds like you won it fair and square.
  16. shouldn't this be easy to catch the culprits? can't they just trace the wiregram and grab whoever collects the money?
  17. I have three of the four in my bracket. I have an association with Villanova having taking a series of courses; but, went with my head instead of my heart and picked Pitt. I got laughed out of the office picking Michigan State to make it to the finals. I have them losing to UNC.
  18. i hope you enjoy them. it is always fun to get new stuff. i have both i and 2s--like them both. have had the 1s since 1984.
  19. you did the right thing not upsetting your father. my brother in law fell for the same thing--he thinks he got the deal of the century and i didn't want to tell him that he could have gotten twice the system for half the price.
  20. Mostly General Questions section--you'z guyz are too smart for me in them other sections.
  21. i had a similar experience with The Lion, The WItch and the Wardrobe. Never had a desire to see the movie; but, one evening it was on and i stopped and watched for a few minutes. It didn't take long for me to get interested in it. It was a really good movie. I'm a fan of C.S. Lewis... Bruce--have you read The Great Divorce from C.S. Lewis? Very interesting book, somewhat hard to understand at times though. But, I've read it twice.
