  1. I'm currently using a Klipsch SW15-II with my K-horns in my home theater. I can pickup a Wharfedale SW380 for about $600. Does anyone have any information on this subwoofer? Its suppose to have a sensitivity of 102 db. Thanks Jeff W
  2. Cut-Throat, I have added the altec 1005B horns and 288C drivers to my khons. I also went step furthur and added JBL 2404 (baby cheeks) for the high end. I used ALK crossovers. I must say I do love the sound.

  4. All this subwoofer talk has me wonder about my setup. Which is K-horns with a Klipsch SW-II 15. Anyone know how this klipsch sub ranks with ones in the re-views? It seems to be working great for me with HT.
  5. I too have heard that you should not have two center channels. But I run two LaScala's for my center channel and have not run into any issues with the setup. So I'd say if you already have the second Academy give it a try and see what it sounds like.
  6. I'm partial to Yamaha. Using an RX-Z1currently.
  7. What about "I'm Going Home" by Alvin Lee and Ten Years After?

  10. I have k-horns as mains in my home theater setup with a yamaha rx-v1. I also want to listen to 2 channel stereo using the K-horns with my scott 340b tube receiver. Any sugestions as to how to do this other than using a speaker switch setup in reverse to switch between the receivers? I'd like to keep the signal degregation of the switch to a minimum. Thanks
  11. Whould you be interested in trading for a pair of Altec Seville speakers in excellent condition?
  12. Lots of excellent choices everyone has posted. I have not seen anyone list DADA - the ablum "puzzle" or Yellow the album "essentials".

  15. Craig, I did not get the 340B from Don. I purchased me 340b about 4 years ago. Jeff
  16. Wow, after reading all the posts have people forgot to enjoy the music. Seems everyone is splitting hairs. I have a friend living with my family right now and they say they are pissed at me cause they will not enjoy their home stereo when they move out and leave my three different Klipsch systems. It seems all of us like Klipsch because it reproduces the music so realistically and the Scott equipment makes a huge difference in sound over the SS equipment for the most part. I for one would rather sit down and listen to the music be it a loud rock concert, or Diana Krall in a jazz club, rather than listening to see if this amp sounds too bright, or what difference a pre amp tube is making. I want to enjoy the music after all that is what I got into this hobby for if the first place. I will say this Craig did a great job on my Scott 340B which now does sound better than my Marantz 2285. Am I going to worry about another Scott amp would sound better, NO. My original post was just to know what opinions there were on different Scott equipment not to start splitting hairs. I for one feel blessed that I can listen to tube equipment on Klipsch speakers and the rest of the world does not know what they are missing. Regards, Jeff ps: I have K-horns with Altec 1005 mid range (228B drivers) and JBL 2404 tweeters, La-Scallas, and Heresys.
  17. I see alot of people in this forum have Scott equipment. I would like to know what people think of the the sound from various Scott amps who have heard more than just one. I own a Scott 340B which I have had Craig update. It is the only peice of tube equipment I have heard so I'm wondering how it compares to other Scott amps and simular amps as well. Thanks. Jeff
  18. Clueless, Yes I have been to a suround sound concert. It was Pink Flyod when they came out with Division Bell. They had a quad speaker array setup in the concert venue. It was truly a quad or surrond sound concert. Jeff
  19. Cranked, I have a swII-15 and swII-12 and they both work great in my home theater with k-horns for mains. Jeff
  20. Just like everyone else I'd like to spend $1.00 and get $10,000 in quality. I'm looking in the $1000.00 range. I do have the k-horns hooked up to a Scott 340B for music. But nothing beats the k-horns for home theater. Jeff
  21. I'm in need of a new receiver for my home theater setup. Cureently have a Yamaha RX-990. I have K-horns for mains, LaScallas for rear, and Altec 605A for cente channel. I'm in ned of a receiver with AC-3 decoder built in for the lased disc and analog 5.1 inputs as well for new SACD player. What is everyone using and/or recommend? Regards, Jweed
  22. Randy, I'll send you and email with my phone number. This coming saturday I'm available, otherwise the following weekend sometime. Jweed
  23. To Randy and Al, I would like to offer my help in the ongoing fued the tow of you are having. I live in Minnapolis, close to Randy. I have a pair of ALK crossovers built by Al which I use in my K-horns. I'm willing to take these out and go to Randy's place and hook them up to his K-horns, and listen with him for few hours or so to get and idea of how the TRUE ALKs would sound in Randy's environment.
