  1. Yeah I saw that. About $40 more than accessories4Less. A4L doesn't seem to have any at the moment. Thought I would post on here in the meantime to see what might come up. Thanks!
  2. Preferably in silver and DFW area. Thanks!
  3. I believe this is it. It talks about toeing in at 45 which depending on the room may or may not be in front of you. I seem to remember seeing something more about toeing in front of you. Basic idea is "Fig. 3".
  4. There is an article somewhere around here that PWK wrote on this subject. You cross the speakers a few feet in front of you and it equals out the off axis listening position. Basically if you are off to the left, the left speaker is closer but pointing away from you while the right speaker is further but pointing towards you. This does work. I did find that it cut down on the soundstage in my case though.
  5. Apparently I'm asking too much here. How about $100.
  6. Selling my Carver Model TFM-15CB Amp. Bought this locally off a Klipsch member and after using it several months decided to go back to my HK 430. Amp works but takes a while to warm up. When I first tried it the channels took a while to even make sound. The right meter sticks as well. I'm no expert but I assume it could use a refreshing. Once it gets going, sounds great. Selling as is for $100 + shipping. Thanks!
  7. I'm curious how much "better" they are than the Forte IIs. Would it be enough improvement to sell the F2 for the F3s? I don't really plan on it but if I had the money, I would if for nothing else to get sweet looking veneer and grill options.
  8. I don't really know the answer to your question but I built these for my Forte IIs and filled them with playground sand. They must weight 100lbs each. Love them.
  9. I personally would not pay $550 unless they were in pristine shape and original, or maybe if they had known upgrades like Crites crossovers, etc. The seller's sales pitch alone would turn me off of these. I didn't even pay $550 for my Forte IIs in almost perfect condition. Paid $400 for 1980's Heresy Is about 10 years ago, also in great shape and all original.
  10. A couple of comments on y'all's comments. First I have Forte IIs so a Heresy would not have the same mid. Exponential vs Tractrix. My Academy is rebuilt as noted in my original post, Crites titanium diaphragms and new crossovers. I'll probably stick with what I have for now. In the future I plan on doing some built-ins for the entertainment area and will try to incorporate a spot for a Forte II on its side under the TV. Thanks!
  11. Reading some recent topics has got me searching for a better center for my Forte IIs. Right now I have an Academy with Crites tweeter and crossover upgrades. I've read on this site that the KLF-C7 is a better match to the Forte IIs due to the Tractrix horn vs the Academy's. Of course nothing would beat a Forte II for the center but at this moment there is no room. So would it be worth swapping out my Academy for a KLF-C7? I can definitely tell the Academy does not match the Forte IIs. It sounds great on it's on but not quite a match as I would hope. Thanks!
  12. Isn't the KLF-C7 the match for a Forte II? I've been on the lookout for one. Using an Academy now but since I upgraded from Forte I to Forte II I don't think it matches as well. I can definitely tell a difference across the front.
  13. I'm guessing not since these are MDF and it really doesn't change over the years like solid "real" wood. Just my guess though.
  14. Listening to mine now, I've been back and forth with different amps and always return to the HK 430. It just has more impact and that alive sound than anything else I've tried. Got about $140 total into it, best deal ever!
  15. I have the Emotiva Stealth DC-1. It's $500 but pro grade. No complaints and it gets a lot of great reviews from folks. https://emotiva.com/products/dacs/electronics/dacs/stealth-dc-1
  16. Never give up [emoji106] Now enjoy them!
  17. This was a fellow forum member who did the work. There was no official itemized repair sheet or anything. Was he referring to the caps related to the power supplies and main amp? I didn't think he actually replaced those parts. The amp sounds great! I don't think this is causing any issues as far as listening to music goes. If it is it's on a level I can not hear. The hiss/hum does not increase with volume.
  18. Yeah just looked at the Service Manual, there are 8 total, 3 underneath. I'll clean and replace
  19. When I had it refurbished I told him I wanted it brought back to original specs so I assume he replaced anything that should have been. The only details I can find are form an old email where he said the initial cost covers "three power supplies and main amp." How many fuses are in this? I saw two inside and three on the back. I did not look under the main board but seems weird they would hide any under there. I can check the voltage at the speaker terminals. My knowledge of the internal workings of these electronics is very limited.
  20. So tried some new cables thanks to jimjimbo, nice cables but noise is still there. Opened her up and cleaned the pots, fuses, etc. Everything looked clean to begin with. After further exploration, here is what I've noticed. Each driver makes a sound when the HK is turned on. Tweeter makes a hiss, mid a deeper his, woofer a hum. Nothing on the amp itself seems to alter the noises be it volume, input, etc. Doesn't matter if anything else is connected to the amp or not. The only difference is when cables are connected to the Aux input the high frequency hiss gets a bit crackly. I've tried a different outlet, same thing. The outlet it usually resides on is on a dedicated circuit anyway with a Brick Wall surge protector. Now this is me with my ear right up on the speaker, step back and you hear nothing. Maybe these older amps are just not dead silent and it's normal?
  21. Man if you are giving up then call Crutchfield and demand they take them back because they are defective. If that doesn't work, call Klipsch. Otherwise, go through the steps everyone is telling you to do. You came here looking for help and you're getting quite a bit. Unless you are not describing the problem accurately, "muffled," there is something hooked up wrong or they are defective.
  22. Have you done everything these guys have suggested to narrow down the speaker? Different amp? Different cables? Polarity? You said you changed the source which is good. Find a CD you know is a good recording and try it. If you eliminated all the external variables, look to the speaker. Check all the drivers like suggested. If a tweeter is out, it would sound muffled. A guy on here recently had a problem with his LaScallas sound, finally turns out it was a setting on his amp he recalibrate. If all fails, call Klipsch. They will help you figure it out. Heresys have been around a long time and I've never heard anyone say they sound muffled. If anything, too bright.
  23. Yeah Heresys are not muffled, they have that reach out and grab you type of sound. Listen to what these guys are suggesting, change out amps, sources, check wiring, etc. A lot of times it's that stupid obvious thing that gets overlooked so retrace your steps and don't assume anything.
  24. Thanks for the links! Why did you order 4 of everything? Do you need 4 or did you just want extras? Seems like you need 1 tuner, 1 stereo beacon and 6 fuse, correct? Thanks again!
  25. Do you happen to have a link to the LEDs you used? Thanks guys!
