  1. Indy, that room brings a tear to my eye, gorgeous! Chris
  2. Inventor, I have the Sanyo Z5 and a 96" screen. I had the PJ ISF calibrated and feed it from the Oppo 971H (981 is new model). The results are superb colours, razor sharp image and just a fantastic movie experience and I am very picky with PQ. The Z5 is IMHO the best "budget" PJ for fully controlled light situations, if you have ambient light then the Panny AE100 may be better, its much brighter but is having some reliablity issues and only carrys a 1 year warranty and the lamps are $150 more to replace . I would suggest that you figure out how wide you can go in your room and then work backwards to determine the diag. screen size. PJ central.com has charts and such for this. Go as big as you can! Ok, I did it for you. a 92" screen will be 80" wide which should leave lots of room for screen frame etc, speakers and so on. This link will give you an idea... http://www.projectorcentral.com/Sanyo-PLV-Z5-projection-calculator-pro.htm This PJ has a 3 year warranty and sells for around $1500US and with its phenominal lens shift abilty its very easy to install. Add another $500-$800 depending on what screen, I recommend a matte white 1.0 gain which gives the most accurate PQ and is also the cheapest fabric! ( Carada and Dalite are very good value) you want and away you go, you will love it, I promise! You just don't need 1080p at the moment and 3 years from now you will want to upgrade anyway. Regards Chris
  3. oops, sorry i was thinking of RS62 for surrounds.
  4. For surrounds I would go with the RF62.
  5. Crazy, congrats! The 83's keep growing on you don't they? I love mine too. Chris
  6. Was that a Sunfire amp? TNR, hi there. I got the Emotiva MPS1 amp.
  7. I agree with Indy, but the sensitivity is important..the higher the better..for example, a speaker that is rated at 87db would be quite difficult for some receivers and amps to drive while the 83's 100db are very efficient. Also, it gives you some idea of how low the speak can go...in this case 29HZ claimed which I might add is really low for a floorstander and I can attest to that, they really pump out the bass[] Chris
  8. Hi Bobby, Welcome to the forum. I would suggest you get the RC62 if its in your budget. The center is by far and away the most crucial speaker in an HT setup. If you must get the 52 but I will tell you now, you get what you pay for and the 62 will blow your socks off, you will have no idea what you have or will be missing. My whole Klipsch love affair started after auditioning the 62, bought it, set it up and sat there in awe listening and shaking my head. I have since bought the RF83 "flagship" floorstanders and just got the RC64 center...this stuff is that good. Enjoy and let us know what you get! Chris
  9. Watched "Sin City" last night and was really in awe at the picture and superb artwork in this film, didn't have the same effect at all with my 42" Sammy RPG. But the sound from that 64 was just awesome, the sound of Mickey Rourkes voice was so fantastic, it was like the voice came from the whole screen not the speaker. I cannot believe how friggin awesome this center is, it has truly changed the whole movie experience. Music review...put on Micheal Mcdonald' "Motown" in DVD Audio and was just about brought to tears, I'm not kidding either, its just that incredible. Because he uses the center for voice and alot of bass lines and snare drum etc, it really showed off the ability of this monster center. It was so muscial if that makes sense and soooooooo smooth, just gorgeous stuff, its what I have been longing for....now for that pre/pro...LOL I don't mean to brag(ok, maybe just a tad) I just want to let you folks know what a huge change it has made in my system, it is so worth the money if you can afford it, buy it. Chris
  10. Hey Jackson, yes love the Eagles! I actually prefer the Farewell 1 tour better though for content, its much more upbeat and lively and the video is HD quality to boot and the DTS track is to die for...those horns going from front to back is magic to my ears.
  11. My two cents, in the very short time I have had my 64 I noticed right away with music (multi channel) the same things as you, gorgeous mids and yes even quite noticeable deep extended very tight bass. you said: The first thing I noticed is the low end extension of this thing. For being a sealed box and a center (two things that usually mean not much more than midrange extension) this center performs well enough that I was able to comfortably set the crossover at 60hz. This worked great for me because it seems to have opened up my front end pretty considerably. I'm assuming it's because the sub has less to worry about less so maybe it sounds a little bit cleaner? So yes, overall performance is top notch and basically what I've come to expect from Klipsch. Chris
  12. Thanks everyone for the kind comments. dkp, My HT is very functional but far from pretty. It is soundblocked and then covered with heavy black fabric which makes the room accoustically dead (no need for bass traps and wall treatments here) and perfect for big screen projection stuff. You can actually here how "dead" it is when you walk in and speak..no echo at all. This is "my" room and as such my wife doesn't mind the studio/theatre look. Sure if I had wads of cash I would make it fancy like IndyKlipschfan' HT but I prefer to spend on my hardware addiction although new seating is imminent. The soundstage wall as I call it, is simply burgundy drapes that I bought (came in 3' panels) hung on some tubing I bought from HDepot(not curtain stuff, cost too much). Get as many as you need and away you go, I really like the look, it looks rich and luxurious and like the old cinemas. The screen is hung on 2 big hooks bolted through the wall studs and then 2 kitchen cupboard door handles attached to the top of the screen rail which gives me some lattitude adjusting the horizontal position of the screen. The effect is that the screen with its black velour borders (which I made and bought the screen fabric) appears to float in front of the curtains, hope this helps, fire away. pics to follow. Chris
  13. Hey Miller, have a look at the DMC-1 pre/pro (40% off future pre/pro purchase) and MPS1 combo. Secrets of HT.com have nothing but good things to say about the set, in fact he bought it after reviewing it! The DMC-1 is my next purchase...[] Chris
  14. Your old Sony's work great...that was my point.... "Sony have been in a downward spiral for the last few years. What gave them their name of build quality has long since vanished" Its the newer stuff that is not up to scratch.
  15. Congrats Roc. makes my setup look like childs play...oh well, what you don't know you don't miss...[:'(] Lets see some pics....we love pics Chris
  16. Sony have been in a downward spiral for the last few years. What gave them their name of build quality has long since vanished. My next door neighbour has a Sony SXRD 60" that cost $5000 CAD plus tax etc broke after 4 months. How can they offer a measly one year warranty on a unit costing that much? Because they know its garbage that won't last. My local audio shop where I buy my Klipsch stuff stopped carrying Sony because they are so bad...how bad is that? Chris
  17. Inventor, hi there. The cockpit is a CRJ 900. Chris.
  18. Klipsch are super revealing and deadly accurate in true sound reproduction. If thats what you are after, welcome to the madness. If you want muddy "warm" sounding speakers that colour the sound then there are many options available. Source, as in recorded material is the most important factor in how Klipsch sound. If one has a poorly recorded disc it will sound like the poorly recorded material that it is but if it is well done, omg...you are in for some sonic bliss baby. Enjoy and welcome...we all know which way you are going....this way to Indy...home of Klipsch.
  19. Yup, speakers, speakers, speakers....get the best you can afford, it will make or break your system. Chris
  20. I have the MPS1 amp...incredible gear especially for the price, suggest you have alook at the DMC1 or the next model down and yes it has Phono in. Chris. http://emotiva.com/dmc1.html
  21. If you have the cash or just "have" to have the latest gear, go for it..blue ray or HD DVD..who knows? Me, sure I want an amazing PQ...I have that now with my Oppo 971 and Sanyo Z-5 PJ, most movies look totally amazing, I'm waiting till this sorts itself out. What I am really looking forward to though is true lossless 7.1 pcm master soundtrack exact copy..now that will be cool. Chris
  22. Congrats to you my friend, very very nice indeed. I would like to jazz my HT up but that would cut into funding my hardware addiction[:$]
  23. Hey Crazy, your speaks go down to 36hz so I would set the x-over to 40-50hz and speaker size to large for music and 80hz speakers to small for movies, of course you can fine tune by trying out different combos thereof. For surrounds have a look at the RS42/RS62 and for rears I would say the RB61 or 81.
  24. Thanks boys, last night I gave the rig a really good work out with lots of surround music and concert stuff...really , really amazing stuff..just a wall of sound, before with the 62 it sounded great but you could tell where the sound was coming from, now its seamless. But then again with 10 drivers and 3 big horns on a 15' soundstage....plus a 12" woofer...yeeee.haaaa....lol Cheers guys and gals Chris.
  25. MPmiller, hi there, I recently bought the MPS1 amp from Emotiva, its a killer amp, fantastic sound and build quality, price for the pre/pro and amp combo is right on your budget, you wont find a better setup for the money IMHO. Chris http://emotiva.com/products.html
