  1. 1095 will rock those babies!
  2. I agree, Outlaw has a very good reputation, my buddy loves his amp. 125 wpc should be more than enough depending on speakers, room size etc. Any decent HK,Yamaha, Denon,Pioneer AVR with pre-outs should do a fine job as a pre/pro, in fact that is what I am planning to do with my Yamaha Rx-V2500. One amp you may want to consider as well is Anthem, made in Mississauga, On., and very well regarded, many excellent reviews on the web are available. The MCA series, 20,30,50 are 2.3.5 channel amps rated at a true 200wpc. However, Rotel is also an excellent product. Good luck and keep us informed! Chris.
  3. I'm diggin it big time baby! Just got my tickets to see Colin James & The Little Big Band for Feb 06 here in Waterloo, On,. So, of course I've been getting in the groove with his 3 "Big" Band Cd's. If you folks like Big Band/Swing with alot of blues..its wicked, check this dude out! http://www.mymusic.com/search2.asp?curr=1&myptr=galaxie&txtSearch=Colin+James&cboSearch=Artist&org=new Yes , the 83's are a rockin tonite!
  4. Tgenius, Hello and welcome! You are gonna love your new 82's... Welcome to the madness.
  5. I have the 971H and can say that PQ quality is outstanding on a 96" screen through a Sanyo Z-5. I was very leary of upconverting players thinking it was all BS but it truly is a huge improvement on my HK DVD22. DVD audio as well as regular DVD soundtracks are stunning. I would say CD is par with most good budget DVD/CD players. If you have a Cambridge unit you may want to a/b for sound on CD's, just my opinion. In any case, for the Video alone its a simple choice, its the only player to get Imho.
  6. Justin, congrats on your new system, should really rock, lets see some pics when you get it setup. Regards, Chris.
  7. My Yammy Rx-V2500 sounds awesome with my 83's!
  8. S.Cane, hello and welcome, this isn't a huge forum so sometimes it takes a few days to get answers. I own the REF IV series RF83 and RC62 with year old Mirage OM260 which are great speakers but very different from Klipsch, guess what? They sound fantastic. As long as you use good quality speakers and have them all setup correctly (balanced with an spl meter) you should get great results. However, I for one can attest to the friggin stunning sound the new Ref series are capable of producing. Have fun and let us know what you get. Welcome back to the madness.
  9. Hey Killer, when you set your speakers to small, they still produce bass but only from where the crossover is set. e.g.....xover at 60HZ...speakers handle all bass untill this point where it is then handled by the sub. this is called rolloff, ideally it is where your speakers are no longer able to go any lower. RF82 is 33HZ. Ideally you would set your xover at 40HZ for the perfect rolloff but most likely it will be higher, 50,60,80, etc. The key is to play around with your settings and use an spl meter to set your line levels, this makes a huge difference in sound as the auto calibration is no where near good enough for this. The RC62 goes down to 57HZ so again, a xover of 60 would be much better. I have the 83's and a RC62 and all my speakers are set to small and xover at 80HZ(works in my room). For music if you have multiple setup save options you may wish to have your speakers set to large butits a big nono for movie soundtracks. You do NOT want huge LFE effects going through your speakers at any time, this will damage them in a real hurry. Let us know what you find and enjoy!
  10. All speakers should be set to small, crossover at 80 is a good place to start, try 60 and 90 as well, room accoustics and sub placement have alot to do with this. For more info see http://www.audioholics.com/techtips/setup/avhardware/audiovideosetup.php
  11. Hiya Justin, welcome aboard! If you are into music or HT for that matter, buy the best possible speaker you can afford, they are without a doubt the most important part of your system. The center is of course the most important speaker in the sysytem for movies and some concerts that use the center channel. Therefor, if budget allows the 64 would be the obvious choice assumimg your mains match closely enough. As far as mains go, my choice would be , 83,63,82,62, center,64,62. I am currently running 83's with a Rc62 center and it sounds fabulous, yes I will upgrade to the 64 soon but if you set your line levels correctly with an SPL meter the results are very, very good. Many people on here use floorstanders as surrounds and swear by them, espescialy for multi channel music. I personally use Mirage OM260 because they are my "old" mains and again, when set properly the system sounds amazing. I have not heard your sub, but it should have no problems with any choice you make, the better the speaker the better the system sounds regardless of the sub. HK AVR 340 Receiver, very nice indeed, tons of power and very clean, will match well with any Klipsch speaker because they are so efficient. Hope this helps, and its just my opinion but its similar to my setup.
  12. James, very nice system! Just a thought though, if you have the room, it would really improve your soundfield to spead those 83's out a little or as much as possible. Nice rack too, I'm jealous.
  13. Eljopez, LMFAO, anemic???..obviously you have never heard the 83's.
  14. Congrats buddy, they are awesome and your setup looks fantastic, enjoy! regards, Chris
  15. Hey Jay, yes the 62 is sitting on a 10" Mirage sub, its the right height and I spent alot of money in December on a new PJ etc so I am holding off on the center stand for a while, besides I am upgrading to the RC64 so want to make sure its big enough. Those speakers are most certainly NOT 63's..the insult!..lol...the pic was taken from about 17' back with a new Canon Dig cam and I have no idea how to use it yet! Them there speakers are 100% Certified and Bonafied RF83's, have a listen, hear that deep bass? rich sweet mids? gorgeous highs? YUP, thems 83's..LOL.
  16. I'm with you guys, up here in Kitchener, Ontario, its the same thing. Klipsch speakers not hooked up, horrible dim little corner of the store hidden away with crap no name type stuff and Bose, LMAO!! Drivers smashed in, crushed or missing/broken grills. Klipsch, do us all a favour and stop selling to these retarded retailers.
  17. Conrats on your 83's! You are going to love them, especially with a nice amp driving those beasts. Here is my setup....
  18. You can make your own screen in a variety of ways for around $100. I made mine and the PQ is stunning with a Sanyo Z5. Go to AVS forums under DIY screens and have at it! I am however going to purchase Da-lite CinemaVision material (1.3 gain) and replace the BOC that I am now using as I can see some things that could be improved with a higher gain , this is going to cost a further $300.
  19. Pocajunboy, Hello and Welcome. A frequently asked question, any of the Yamaha, HK, Denon, Pioneer Elite will work well for you. Generally they all do the same things in the same budget range. You can pick up a Yamaha RX-V1600/2600 for around $800 give or take. If you get an older model it saves alot of money (i.e. not the latest current model) I think the same goes for the other models as well. The higher end HK stuff is usually more money but really pump out the power(much higher than rated) but I havent had a new one in four years.
  20. Hi all, If these electronic stores were smart, which of course most are not imo, they would use some top notch DVD audio or SACD even DTS audio discs to demo the RF83's. They are simply exquisite to hear when getting this kind of feed and I only have a Yamaha RX-V2500 receiver, can't hardly wait to get an Anthem MCA50 down the road. I haven't had the pleasure of hearing the RF7 but I absolutely adore my 83's. Klipsh, hear the sonic bliss[li]
  21. Robbyrob, if you are around Waterloo, would love to give you a real life demo of what Klipsch sounds like in my HT. RF83,RC62,Mirage OM260 surrounds and Paradigm PW2200 sub backed by the Mirage FXR10 all powered by a Yamaha RX-V2500 soon to be paired with an Anthem MCA50!
  22. Same here, I have an HK 125 and a Yamaha RX-V2500...all the new receivers seem to work this way, both these receivers don't start to pump it out till at least -30db but sound good at -20 and below, enjoy! That HK is a fine receiver.
  23. Hi Tanner, welcome to the forum. I am no expert in ceiling speakers but if you want the "best" possible sound, I think you will find common consensus here that non ceiling speakers will work much better. The Reference series is fantastic for HT and music use. Unless you are seriously space restricted or wife approval required, go for proper speakers. Just my 2 cents..
  24. Hey srphelps, thankyou. The Oppo is fantastic and a real bargain IMO. BlueManGroup in DVD Audio is friggin spectac!
  25. Couple more....first screen shot...was a freeze image on the DVD player and I don't know what settings to use yet..lol. Doesn't do the real image justice.
