  1. No definite takers yet! Soon to be eBay bound I guess. As soon as I bring the Khorns home this Saturday 4/5, they will be on the auction block.
  2. Hey Kudret! I am going to pick up a pair of 80's Oak Oil Khorns in Maine this weekend (4/5) the guy has another pair in Birch that he is looking to get $1250 for. Montreal is not that much farther from him than I am. He is in Richmond, ME and the speakers are 5 minutes away in Gardiner. It is a little over a 5 hour drive I think for me to get them. Perhaps, while I am there I can look them over for you if you have any interest. He also has a pair of La Scala's. Let me know, maybe you can hook up with a pair.
  3. Tell them Canadian's to pipe down before the US sends our Salvation Army over to defeat them and take over their country from them.
  4. What you have is a pair of 1971 Belle Klipsch (First Year of Release - I think!) in Walnut Oil finish.
  5. They run the woofer into the higher ranges and the tweeter lower I would guess to compensate for no midrange. Why not buy a used pair of Forte' or Forte II's and keep your KV-3. I personally think they are lots better than the RF-7.
  6. The subject says it all, if you had a chance to get a pair of '68 Khorns or '80's Khorns which pair would you get. Lets say that both pair are in equivalent condition. Price difference is not that drastic either. Your thoughts?
  7. My response would be YES! I would certainly get the matching RC-7 center channel so that the timbre is perfectly matched across the front. I am sure you could get away with using it (KV-3) for awhile with some adjustments to the channel volume until you saved up enough to get the matching center for the RF-7's though.
  8. Shame I did not come across the pair of Khorns I found sooner. For one my Belle's are in Oak, two everything works on them and they need nothing! Well hope it all works out for you buddy. P.S. anyone looking for a beautiful set of fully functional Belle's please just send me an email. I go get the Khorns this coming weekend and need to get my Belle's sold.
  9. 110db, child's play I say. I have taken mine in excess of 120db with no distortion or breakup and had alot more to go. The SPL meter in my DBX 14/10 was pegged at its maximum of 119db. This is with mic on the TV not facing towards the main speakers. Of course in all fairness I am running huge SS amplifiers not a pair of beautiful tube amps. That is quite loud for the few watts being fed into your speakers though.
  10. I hate to go against someone from Klipsch, but I beg to differ those are the original Forte'. That is only a 12" Passive Radiator, the one on the Forte' II runs right up to the edge of the cabinet on the back and has a different type of surround. In addition that is NOT a tractix horn lens that is the standard Forte' horn lens. Sorry guys, those are certainly a pair of original Forte's. Better let the seller know.
  11. My '01 Grand Am GT came with the Monsoon system that sounded pretty damn good for stock. However, I pulled it out in favor of an aftermarket system. GM sucks, I had to keep the original radio connected in the trunk since GM stores data in it that the car needs to work correctly. Bastards.
  12. It could also be occurring if the speakers are being overdriven by the amplifier with music, or a movie soundtrack with heavy bass content. Are your tone controls set to "flat" (no enhancement) if it is a newer recorded CD that you are playing the signal level on them is very high and can cause breakup in the sound.
  13. The Oak Clear finish is noticeably lighter in shade for sure. The Khorns I am geeting are in Oak Oil and the finish certainly looks darker to me.
  14. Geez, if your equipment makes noise, you need new equipment! None of my gear makes any noise. System is as quiet as a church mouse.
  15. Just remove the glass door, unless you have little hands in the household. I have a custom made wooden rack and had a wooden door on it. I use to leave it open when the system was running but then decided to remove it altogether. I have a 19 mos girl but she really does not mess with the components at all. I tried smalls fans but they are noisy and draw in additional dust and goobies to boot.
  16. About a year or so ago I purchased a brand new pair of cane grills for my Heresy II's so that they would match my Belle Klipsch. I am planning on picking up my Oak Khorns on 4/5 and they have the black grills so I am planning on going back to the black grills for my Heresy II's again. Anyone interested in purchasing my cane grills before I go to eBay with them. Keep in mind I wont be letting them go until I have the Khorns in my possession which should be next weekend but I figured I would put the offer out there.
  17. I dont plan on taking any money for the Belle's until I have the Khorns in my possession. I just wanted to get the word out as soon as possible since I have to sell the Belle's to finance the Khorns. I certainly don't want to be left holding nothing that is for sure. I do love the Belle's and would only part with them for a pair of Khorns and now I found some. I can't wait to go pick them up!
  18. Found some Khorns, selling my Belle's email me for any particular's. I will hopefully be picking up the Khorns on 4/5. AA Crossovers, K-55V Mids, wire replaced, spade lugs replaced with gold plated ones, horn damped w/dynamat. I am near Burlington, VT.

  20. No takers on $1000 Khorns or $400 La Scala's? Wow, I am suprised! Maybe I should post under the HT or 2CH sections of the forum. Belle's anyone, anyone.
  21. In the late 70's I had a friend with a full size van that had the top of the line Alpine cassette deck, feeding Zapco preamp/eq's and Zapco amplifiers connected to four Heresy's in the rear of the van one in each corner. It was the most incredible system I had heard back then. This was before the advent of subwoofers in car's but it certainly had bass and it was LOUD!! I also had a friend that took the lower seat cushions out of his Trans Am and had Heresy's in their place, in addition to the monsterous Cerwin Vega HED 6X9's (8 lb magnets on these babies with a dome tweeter)in the rear deck. His source unit was a portable Nakamichi cassette deck that was mounted above the center arm rest. Power was provided by a Fosgate (not Rockford Fosgate) PR-2100 which was 50W X 4. Let me tell you that setup was clean, clear and extremely loud as well. I myself for a time in Germany used a pair of Heresy's in the back seat of my Mercedes 240D powered by a Carver M240 Power amp with a Nakamichi TD-500 cassette deck and an Alpine 3015 Equalizer. So while Klipsch does not officially have car audio products I have seen Klipsch in cars and they sounded awesome.
  22. BBB don't let a future cab driver get under your skin. He does not even live in the USA and therefore is not entitled to an opinion. He is responding merely to irritate people, the truth is he does not know his a** from a hole in ground (sand). May the fleas from a 1000 camels infest his armpits.
  23. Why not move the center channel speaker on top of the TV, and put the component on the TV in the place where the center channel is now so that the dialogue is properly centered? Just a suggestion.
  24. WOW! What a transformation! Very nice work. Love the choice of stain looks really sharp.
